About Cub Restaurant
Cub is a partnership, collaboration, restaurant and precious project from lots of folk:
Mr Lyan (of White Lyan, Dandelyan, Super Lyan), Doug McMaster (of pioneering zero waste Silo, Brighton), Krug Champagne, Belvedere and LVMH, Dr Arielle Johnson (formerly Restaurant Noma, now MIT, Boston), and many others. We use considered ingredients and apply sustainable methods to create delicious stuff that does good too. We don't want to go on about that, but it's pretty damn interesting what we've tried to bring together, so please do ask us more about it when you visit!
Cub follows a simple premise of bringing people together through great food and drink. In our home on Hoxton Street in East London, we'll set you up with delicious stuff that makes your mind and belly happy. Our set menu is the best way to experience this; some courses are food, some drink and some... a mixture of the two. Or you can just do à la carte. Boozeless options available too.

Loud music blaring right above our table. Asked 3 times for it to be turned down, and it wasn't. Said there were 2 birthdays at the table, not even a candle in the dessert or a happy birthday from the waiter...Best thing on menu was tomato soup. Rest was seriously under-whelming. And three of the four people at our table didn't eat the tongue you were serving up in a big slab as a main course. Not the first time i came to Cub, but definitely last. And I spent almost 400 pounds on this... sigh.

In regards to the specific points mentioned by you, I would like to add that: We did turn the music down at your request, bearing in mind that we are trying to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all the customers in the restaurant, and the music we play is an important part of this. About the birthdays, unfortunately you forgot to mention that our bartender personally gave you all a round of free drinks to celebrate your birthdays. We will raise this with him to make sure that next time he is more explicit to avoid any confusions. In regards to candles, being a sustainable restaurant we avoid single-use items that can also cause cross-contamination. Finally, about the quality of the food, we are happy to hear that most of our customers have enjoyed the menu created by a Michelin-star chef such as Nurdin. However, we understand that this is a subjective matter and we would have been glad to serve a new round of different dishes if you would have made us aware of your dissatisfaction. I love Cub, I love the concept, the sustainability, the inventiveness, the originality and of course the tastes. It was really exciting to see a guest chef - Nurdin there too - as his menu was complimentary but nicely different too, and as every menu there SUPER AWESOME, like next level. As ever the best freshest tastes, its always a mind blowing experience eating and drinking at Cub, but my fav is always the staff who I am in love with, ALL of them, male and female for their friendliness, passion and knowledge (and outstanding looks of course too). I so very much heart Team Lyan. I would date you all and OMFG the food and drink - it would just be awesome - you should run the whole world. THANK YOU!!! xxx

Great food paring
This was such an incredible experience for my and my partner.weve already recommended this place to friends. The food was delicious and innovative not lacking in any flavour even though it was mostly vegetarian. The drinks pairing added so much to the experience and we were lucky to sit at the bar so we could ask questions to the bar tender who clearly so passionate about what he does.you could tell the whole staff was was in accordance to deliver a unique experience to the customer!!! We will 100% return!!

Third time we come and Cub still amazes. The food changes and delights.The staff is passionate, helpful and knowledgeable, without trying too hard to demonstrate showmanship. The recent focus on fermentation brought tremendous new tastes to the all-vegetarian menu, which is amazing. Just a bit sad about the recent price increase but it is still more than worth it, to be honest...
It was a fantastic meal with excellent service. A really great experience all round and I can't wait to come back!

Honestly the best meal I've had in awhile. I have been to Silo and fell in love with it, so I've been really excited to try Cub. Really love the thought behind all the food, and that there's zero compromise on the taste or quality. The tasting menu that covers food and drink is a new, and nice touch… we didn't have to think about anything! Service was fantastic too — attentive and thoughtful but not OTT. PS: Love the payment process!
Booked in here for my husband's birthday and so glad we did. Service was impeccable, from the friendly welcome of Stevie, and the knowledgable and humorous other members of waiting staff whose names I didn't get. On to the food and drink - a tasting menu for £67 in London is pretty darn good value, but the food (and drink) needs to live up to it. And it definitely did that, with 6 food courses and 6 drink courses all coming with a good explanation and often some back story. The ethos and approach means getting to try some new ingredients or different combinations, all of which were hugely enjoyable. With great service, delicious food, great service, and an ever-changing menu, there are numerous reasons to return, and we hope to do so soon.

Everything was perfect! I’ve been looking forward to visiting Cub for almost a year, so my expectations were very high. I wasn’t disappointed and can’t wait to visit again. Amazing food, drinks and service - proving just how right a restaurant experience can be.

From start to finish everything was flawless. The knowledge and interaction from staff was excellent. The best dining experience I have had . If I lived in London I would certainly be coming back.
