Told no cocktails on a Saturday night - then had cocktail added to bill despite not getting it Put at high tables under VERY harsh white light Ordered 6 meals, 5 of which arrived together, last one (Dahl) 10 minutes later. Main meals were very nice food, particularly specials. Deserts were a bit of a let down (tablet cheesecake were just had a couple of bits of tablet on the top, and the raspberry coulis was not coulis, it was cheap ice cream sauce). Service was good given that it was so busy. Pity about the delay in foods, the lack of garnishing in drinks (I.e Hendricks and tonic really should come with cucumber or at the very least lime), and the lack of cocktails on a Saturday without explanation.
Husbands 30th birthday, was hoping for something special. Wasn’t asked how our main courses were (2 great, 2 lacking flavour). Offered the feedback to the waitress who didn’t comment, even to say would pass on to the chef. Left feeling pretty underwhelmed.
Great Christmas meal. Small group of four, all four enjoyed the quality of the food and service. Many thanks, and a Merry Christmas to you and your staff. Regads, Iain MacEachan Marine Scotland Compliance Oban
Excellent Food & Service
Fabulous food as always. Friendly and attentive servers.
This is the third year we have made a booking for a large party in your restaurant. The service was faultless and the food was great. Looking forward to next year already.
Always a pleasant experience in this restaurant. Food was great and service satisfactory. Girl on the welcoming area was pleasant and made iur table feel welcome.
Buzzing atmosphere, good food.
Was very busy both times we visited this week but staff were very helpful. Food was served piping hot and we didn’t have to wait to long between courses. Cocktails were also fab. Children’s menu also good selection of mains .
Enjoyable evening with lovely food returned today for lunch l. Another fab meal .
Great restaurant in heart of Oban with good menu so everyone will find something tasty to eat.
The service was excellent and the sea bream was divine.
Lovely atmosphere and really enjoyable meal
Great service and good food.
We ate here 3 years ago & had a delicious meal so decided to book again as we were in Oban for the night. I am coeliac so the fact you have a gluten free menu & last time seemed very knowledgeable I was looking forward to a good meal again. The experience could not have been more different. I sent a query through your website in advance just to check a few things regarding gluten & cross contamination but got no reply. I directed my queries to the waitress who had no idea of the answers but did go & check with the chef. Apparently the hand cut chips were cooked in a fryer that is also used to cook foods containing gluten......which begs the question why are they on the gluten free menu? I ordered pate for starter which was mediocre followed by the bacon cheese burger. The burger bun had obviously been taken out of the freezer & microwaved so was brick hard & inedible & the burgers looked like they’d had the same treatment, they were completely anaemia looking & certainly hadn’t seen a grill, the coleslaw definitely didn’t seem home made & had a horrible greasy taste like it’d been made with cheap mayonnaise & the salad was just a pile of leaves with no dressing. The rest of my party didn’t fare much better with their meals, my daughters ordered steak cooked medium rare & it came well done & one was missing the potato gratin, another member had the bacon cheese burger which was not gluten free & he said it was tasteless. We could not catch a waitresses attention to complain as first they were very busy then stood chatting at the bar. When we finally managed to get the bill I explained about my burger & said I wasn’t happy to pay for it they did take it off the bill. All in all the place has really gone downhill since our last visit & we certainly won’t be returning. So disappointing!
Fantastic food and service I will definitely be back , there was 6 of us and we all thought the food was fantastic.
A better selection of bottled real ales would be an big improvement.
Had our work night out dinner here and it was brilliant,we had someone who required a special menu and it was no trouble for staff to accommodate for her.Great food, good staff can't ask for much more.
Food was lovely however poor selection of gins and very poorly made cocktails was disappointing
Waited longer than we expected for our meal but it was really busy , staff were lovely and meal was really tasty.
It was v busy and staff did well but we were a bit surrounded by lots of people waiting for tables. Starters and Mains were good but deserts a bit basic and far too sweet. We didn't know about the back bar and perhaps a clear door into it would make more people aware of it and likely to use it.
