About Crust Woolton
'The best pizzas in town, all served up fresh from our wood-fired oven, topped with the freshest ingredients from trusted Italian suppliers... no matter what dough you choose, our pizzas are that good; we won't need to tell you to eat your crust!'
After waiting to be seated 40 minutes later than our reservation time, with 3 kids & elderly parents😢 we were offered complimentary garlic bread to start 👍 until that order was wrong and when it was pointed out the waitress said "ah well" it was rectified. Drinks ordered & delivered no problem. Food ordered & delivered no problem. Mostly pasta dishes we had all a bit bland, as pointed out by my 15 yr old! No problem once seasoning applied, although had to ask 3 times for salt & more cutlery. Seafood linguini a little disappointing in terms of flavour, adequate quantity of seafood, but not as good as my parents said they've had previously. Pizza Nduda was also "ok" according to my husband but not worth the money in his opinion. Chilli was listed as an ingredient on the menu but it was a few chilli seeds :/ Kids were happy with tagliatelle Bolognese. Soft drinks ridiculously expensive for 3 children. Service was ok but I don't like asking for the obvious repeatedly.
We just didn't enjoy it here. We had booked a table for two at 7:30 on a Friday night, and had been sent an email to confirm. When we arrived, the staff told us that the table wasn't yet ready so there would be a short wait. Despite having a booking, we ended up waiting in a queue of walk-ins for nearly twenty-five minutes without so much as an apology or a drink while we waited. At one point, I approached the manager on duty and asked her to check if they definitely had the reservation. They did, and she immediately reeled off a well-rehearsed script about having had an unusually busy night and how grateful they were that we were so patient. This wasn't good enough. The restaurant is clearly very poorly managed and it was unacceptable to leave a group who had booked ahead standing in a crowded doorway for so long without even apologising. The only reason we stuck it out was that on a Friday night getting a table anywhere else would have been practically impossible. Not all of the service was terrible. I found our server Antonio to be extremely friendly and polite. He was clearly rushed off his feet having to be in all places at once, and I'm impressed by how he managed to remain professional and helpful in light of that. Unfortunately he was the exception rather than the rule, as I found the attitude of the rest of the staff to be wholly lacking, not least the management who left us stranded, or the staff member who walked away winking at us when we tried to ask him for the bill. The restaurant is obviously clearly focusing on its margins as they've crammed as many tables into the space as is humanly possible. This makes for a stressful atmosphere, as you're eating on top of other people. This wasn't helped by a large family on the table next to us, whose toddler kept running between the tables and bothering other customers, with no intervention from the parents. Plus, the fact that the staff had only a tenuous grasp on the dining room fed back into the atmosphere. We simply couldn't relax and enjoy it. The food and drink are objectively very nice. The drink selection is extensive, and I was excited by the list of craft beers on offer, although it took me four attempts to order one from the menu that they actually had. For a Friday night it's quite disappointing that they clearly hadn't stocked up. The cocktail list was also really interesting and my partner ordered one that she really enjoyed. We ordered two pizzas, one with spicy salami and the other with porchetta. Both were really tasty. However the porchetta pizza didn't actually come with porchetta on it. Porchetta is a type of roast pork flavoured with herbs such as fennel and rosemary, with crackling on the outside. The pizza we were given only had some slices of bog-standard cooked ham. The only thing it had in common with porchetta was that it came from a pig. I'm not sure if this is because they were out of porchetta and were just hoping no one would notice (we did), or because that's what they sell their customers on a false pretence. Ultimately what we ordered wasn't what we were given. We won't be rushing back here. The food is nice, but not nice enough to put up with the cramped, hectic atmosphere and the farcical booking system.
The service was great yesterday and the staff were fantastic with the kids in our party.
Fabulous staff as usual. Food great.
Great service, perfect family restaurant
Lovely food but it was very busy so we sat by the door to the outside space which wasn’t great - the door opened and closing all the time meant we were freezing. We asked to move but there was no room. Fire alarm also kept going off due to the pizza oven. We waited almost an hour for our food as it was so busy.
Excellent service amazing food perfect family friendly restaurant
Yummy food, friendly and fast service and at a good price
We had our sons holy communion here , everything was perfect thankyou , the service was brilliant considering how busy the restaurant was ... this was our first visit and we really enjoyed the food and drinks we will definitely be returning.Thankyou for making our sons day perfect x
Excellent meal and friends we had invited were very impressed as it was their first visit
We booked a table early evening on a busy Thursday, so glad we had booked as the queue was "outside the door" when we were leaving! Service was good and fast considering they were so busy. Would recommend the "garlic bread with cheese" very tasty! Didn't have room for a pudding as the portions were a good size.
This is my absolute favourite pizza place, the service is always amazing and so child friendly and the food is so tasty and authentic I can't fault it! Have been a loyal customer since it opened and will continue to be x
I don't want to affect the * rating, but when sitting outside it would be good to advise customers of the outdoor eating area (with a retractable roof) being a smoking area. The roof was closed, but a couple on the next table lit a cigarette as we began eating. The food and service was not affected, but our enjoyment definitely was and we left as soon as we could after eating.
Fantastic food & service!
