About Crossroads Bar
Crossroads Bar is a re-introduction to the classic hotel bar, a place where traditional ideas and impeccable service unite with modern designs.
Lunch at the Crossroads Bar is an excellent way to sample delicious chef-prepared cuisine with a soft drink and takeaway tea or coffee at a budget-beating fixed price.
We stayed at the hotel and dined at cross roads bar for breakfast and booked in for high tea. I also had executive lounge access so had canapés there. The high tea was inexpensive however it took over 15 minutes for somebody to come and ask us what drinks we wanted (after having to wave someone down) and by 35 minutes with no sign of food or drinks we actually left the restaurant . Breakfast was similar with drinks being served at the very end of our meal (the only reason we had our food in good time was because it was a semi buffet service ) It is no doubt a busy period but your staff were clearly disorganised and lacked direction. Looking around many people were experiencing the same issue. The service unfortunately does not reflect that of a quality hotel which is a shame as there are undoubtedly steps that can be taken to improve efficacy. For example taking drinks orders the minute you seat customers , having staff assigned to specific dining sections etc.
I booked in high tea for my mother in laws 70th birthday with 29 people. The communication the week leading up to the day with the F&B manager was poor. Himanshu was hard to get a hold of, I had tried to call him twice on the week leading up to the date and he never called me back or replied to my emails. I understand he’s a busy man, but if he doesn’t have time there should be a small event bookings person who looks after these kinds of events. It stressed me out as I was wanting answers about decorations & confirming final numbers. Prior to this when I was booking it in he was lovely and easy to deal with. The birthday girl was also lactose free and I rang and let them know beforehand. On the day we had to ask the waiter about the lactose free and they had no idea. So while everyone else was happily eating the birthday girl waited and waited for her food. I had to ask twice. The chef made up a plate for her to eat but it took forever. With a larger group there should have been another staff member assigned to us. There was only one waiter to take everyone’s coffee/tea orders before even serving the sparkling wine on arrival, and then trying to flag her down for refills of food was challenging. She did her best but service was lacking that’s for sure. The food was yummy! And endless refills meant to left there with a full belly. The venue was lovely too. Overall everyone had a lovely time and it was a great day celebrating my MIL’s 70th bday.
Food was good. Not great. I ordered chicken. It was tasty but the chicken breast was dry. My husband ordered steak. It was ok. . Service was ok. Not personable. Staff seemed occupied by manager who was around and talking quietly with them. . No one came to ask how we are going or if we need anything else.
There was not enough staff working at the venue on public holiday! They using Asian staff to work harder to cut the cost. Two of the Rib eye full of fat.
High tea was generous and tasty and we appreciated replenishment of favorite items. Staff to patron ratio was inadequate and one needed to request attention after initial seating and arrival of tea towers. A group of 6 in an alcove provides a very comfortable environment and we will repeat the experience.
I was little bit disappointed with the pricing I have booked on 22/02/2021 and customer service advised me $59pp for High tea but when we been there yesterday they charged $79 pp. After conversation with few people they still forced to pay $79 which I feel really inappropriate. It’s not about the dollar value but not sticking to the booking condition.
Some of the savory was a bit dry to our liking
the table disappoints no cloth on it also we had no fine sandwiches only bread roll not appropriate for fine dinner which high tea is, the cake not to the standard. Scones where good but the jam and cream nor enough for the scones all in all would not come back to a high tea unless improved this was discussed with my 2 friend and they were also disappointed. Plus when booked told the agent it was my friends 75 birthday I would have though you would put a cup cake with a candle on the table but once again nothing. Not good
Breakfast was a pleasure this stay. The hotel seems to be coming to grips with bookings and a served buffet.
Staff were professional and courteous. Food was amazing. Very impressed as the restaurant was closed and we dined in the bar area. Very well done Swissotel
Great service during a difficult time with all the restrictions
What a peaceful little haven Crossroads Bar is. Service, though very friendly was a bit slow but I think they were short staffed. Loved the high backed seating areas. Plus, it all felt very COVID-19 safe. Will definitely go back.
Food and service was excellent. Only feedback would have been nice to have vegetarian options however I didn’t specify this when booking so it’s more my fault as I’m sure they would have catered for that if asked
We appreciated the calm, relatively quiet atmosphere and the excellent service.
Great food with great service Many thanks
we had a trainee waiter who was excellent
Kind and considerate staff. May the stay and dining enjoyable with two kids.
Great atmosphere, impeccable service and delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas lunch. Thank you to everyone who made it memorable.
Due to work commitments on Christmas day we ordered the take away Christmas menu for 6 people The menu was plentiful and fresh with oysters prawns salads veggies and Ham unfortunately the Turkey was sliced and not very pleasant it looked and tasted like a frozen Turkey you buy from the supermarket we were really looking forward to a nice real traditionally cooked succulent Turkey. Overall everything else was lovely
The atmosphere and food was wonderful. The service was a little hectic at times, but everyone was really trying to please. It was a lovely Christmas lunch with more food than we could eat and fantastic value for money. Thank you.
The Swissotel Sydney provides high quality food, ambiance and courteous hospitality - of a bygone year. It’s the reason I return year after year and recommend to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you again.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was flavorsome and wine was good. We appreciated the distanced seating.
When we arrived me and my friend has to wait for few minutes before we sit down because my name wasn’t on their list despite of calling twice to confirm my reservation. Another wait of 10 minutes until I called the staff asking where is our food, the staff we met in the entrance did not alert the kitchen that we are for high tea so me and my friend are sitting and waiting for nothing. I have been at Crossroads for high tea for around 4 times and my previous visits the food was good. This visit the quality of food dropped. Nothing special. Im disappointed with the scones. Salmon and Red Velvet was good. You can choose either Sparkling wine or Mocktail. We chose mocktail but it is a surprise mocktail from the bar so I was a little bit nervous about that. Towards the middle of the dining the service was better. Staff members are polite. O had a good catch up with a friend, but both of find the food .. so so.
