About Crossroads Bar
Crossroads Bar is a re-introduction to the classic hotel bar, a place where traditional ideas and impeccable service unite with modern designs.
Lunch at the Crossroads Bar is an excellent way to sample delicious chef-prepared cuisine with a soft drink and takeaway tea or coffee at a budget-beating fixed price.
The cheese fondue was overpriced. Too much bread. Its great that each person has their own cheese pot but with the sides we should be able to pick and choose our own rather than having 2 big plates of bread, salads and pickles. The service was also slow. We asked the waiter to take a picture for us and he said he would come back but never...
The music was off for the first 30 minutes so that’s why 4 stars for atmosphere. Food was delicious, portions generous, and service was wonderful!
I celebrated my 50th birthday with my girlfriend’s on Sunday with an exceptional high tea buffet, the service from Paul was excellent, the food was delicious and plentiful. The drink service I would have liked it abit more efficient, but over all I would definitely recommend the high tea buffet for a get together or a celebration, great value too.
Good food, more needs more savoury selection. But the highlight of the day was the staff. Absolutely amazingly best service.
I've never been to High Tea before and as a first experience, the Swissotel was amazing! I can't wait to do it again.
Excellent experience. Perfect for a work meeting.
Lovely quiet place with good atmosphere
Have been many times and always find it a lovely experience
Something we have been going to try for ages. Wet weekend in Sydney made the perfect opportunity. Very pleased we have now had High Tea at the Swissôtel. Definitely recommend this experience.
The booths are perfect good for a private discussion.
Poor variety of savoury foods. Desserts delicious
Friendly but not intrusive service. Will definitely return for business meetings.
Amazing buffet and service! So happy!
Terrible service and the food was not good
Sandwiches in the high tea clearly not fresh Worst scones I’ve ever experienced Coffee was the only enjoyable part.
Great service but limited food choices.
Service was unprofessional, slow, and very subpar for the price and was extremely below expectations for the hotel image. The waiters/waitresses seemed to miss seeing our table and tea/coffee orders took a very long time. Just because some customers use a groupon/coupon/discount price, this doesn't mean that customers should be served with such low standards. We paid full price and received such lacking service. With each order of tea the waiter was unwilling to serve each person an individual small milk serving and instead we had to share. Plates were never collected from the tables and spoons for desserts were plastic and small, the spoons usually used for icecream samples. Spoons for dessert had to be from the teaspoons that came with coffee/tea. Would never go back, the whole experience in my opinion and all the others on my table would be no higher than $40 a person, which is almost half of the actual price paid, $79.
Overall a lovely experience. The food was very nice - my favourite was the seared tuna. Regarding the drinks package, I would suggest including a non-craft beer in the selection next year, as well as a rosé. The staff were very attentive and polite. One of our party was in a wheelchair and the staff were very helpful. My only quibble was that there were not enough staff to attend to all the drinks in a timely fashion.
Our Christmas tradition has been to have Christmas Buffet at a hotel every year because we don’t have family here. We were really happy with Crossroads. We were impressed by the range of food offered from the seafood, to beef, turkey, chicken as well as all the desserts. The kids were happy too. We’d definitely look into booking for next year too.
We had a wonderful Christmas lunch. The food and service by the friendly staff was of a very high standard. Thank you for making it a special day for us.
Tony was amazing. Really attentive and polite. He was bit nervous at the beginning
I have been coming to the Swiss for years, and last time I came I swore I would never go back because the service is always SO bad - waiting up to half an hour to order a drink, trying to catch someone's eye to order another drink and eventually having to get up and go to the counter because you are ignored, then waiting another half hour for the drinks to arrive, just shocking - however I decided to give it one last try on Friday because the location and the venue suit me so well and I like the food; and I have to say that the service was definitely improved on my previous visits. We actually had someone come and ask if we wanted to order more drinks (you would think that's normal, but not at the Swiss) so I was happy enough with the service this time to go back again. I must add, though, that every time I go there I book a table, and they have never once EVER known about my booking, so I have never had a table waiting. This time I booked through ResDiary for the first time and got a confirmation, so I was optimistic, but still they had no record of my booking.
Michael gave excellent service
Very relaxing venue
We came to Crossroads Bar for my mother in law's bridal shower and there were 12 of us. After being seated, we were offered a mocktail or a sparkling wine. We had to ask twice for a sparkling wine to be served. We were also told that we would shortly be given a tea menu, and 1 hour after sitting, we had to chase up for it again. When the tea was served, it was done in 3 lots- the first lot of teapots were put in the middle of the table with minimal explanation of what the teas were or who had ordered them. The second lot, half the order was wrong and it took them 3 goes to get my earl grey to me. We then had to request for milk, which they brought separately and some time later. Considering it was a high tea service, I was pretty embarrassed and appalled my guests had to experience this sort of confusion around the serving of tea. I would have expected that my sharing it as a special occasion when making the reservation, ours being the largest group in the place, the place being half empty to start with, and our multiple requests for service would have encouraged them to keep an eyes on us... As a positive, the food was delicious and although the hot foods and some of the sweets ran out, they were restocked after not too long. I would revisit based on the quality of the food but would only recommend it to friends and family if they were in groups of 2 and were seated near the food where they could flag the attention of staff if needed.
