About Crossing The Rubicon
Our name comes from a momentous moment history and means to take a chance, win or die, the point of no return..... With craft pizza, craft beer, and a great beer list, Crossing the Rubicon is a great place to hang out if you find yourself on Glasgow's Great Western Road.
We went on a Friday night 7.30pm until closing. The atmosphere was buzzy, the pizza was great and it was all round good value.
Second visit and won’t be our last - a great variety of pizzas and great extras
Food is ok but not great. Pizza slightly too oily and no curry menu. Craft beers at the highlight of my visit. Deserts are also ok but something missing. Waiter is smiley but didn’t appeared to be fully confident or knowledgeable about all products. Issue with card machine not able to be fixed by waiter cost me extra on gratuity fee which I did not felt I wanted to pay. Giving 3 starts for location as well but being very generous, should actually be 1-2, service And food miles away from previous Squid&Wale
Great food, fab music, lovely place to spend an evening. Would definitely recommend it.
Superb pizza, great beer & lovely staff!
Great pizza, good service, fab selection of beers.
I would like to say what a lovely place you have and your staff are really friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely scummy and the choice of thirst quenchers was amazing. We'll be back. Thanks again.
We were using an Itison voucher which made this exceptionally good value for money, but the food, drink and service were very good anyway
Great food, great value, music was top drawer. Will definitely be back x
I enjoyed the food on offer and really enjoyed the retro background music, chilled out atmosphere and genuine friendliness of the staff.
Food was amazing and great value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Had a lovely night at CTR as part of an ITISON deal. Lovely staff, very attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Lovely relaxed vibe. Food was tasty and plentiful and excellent value. Would happily recommend.
I'd been to Crossing the Rubicon before and really enjoyed my visits but this visit wasn't up to par. Having made a reservation we were given a table but didn't receive menus and no-one came to take a drinks order. When we then collected our own menus we were moved to a new table. We were at the table for 15 minutes before someone came to take our order (we had to then make our drinks order as the staff member didn't ask us if we wanted drinks). Although the food was great the newer menu is very limited and the dishes weren't as easy to share around the group. After bringing our food to us the next time a staff member spoke to us was when they came to collect our plates at the end of the meal (which was a bit disappointing as we felt a bit forgotten about). We knew that there was due to be a pub quiz, so we booked a table earlier so that we could finish before it started. Although the quiz hadn't started yet the host was playing music quite loudly, to the point that we couldn't hear each other across the table. I understand that the host's job is to get everyone in the mood but it definitely unsettled some of the tables around us too. I'm sorry to be giving such a negative review but I feel that my experience fell short of the service that I've had at Crossing the Rubicon in the past and the other guests at our table said that based on that particular visit they probably wouldn't return for food.
Booking was fairly last minute and in the comments I requested a table with a view of the screen for the rugby if it was possible and this was done for us. Food and service was excellent. I requested a spicier chicken tikka and the kitchen nailed it. Will definitely be back.
Excellent food, beer & service
Food was excellent
Brilliant food Needs a children's menu We will return
Had a lovely time!
Lovely food at a great price. The service was great but there was only one other couple in the restaurant at the same time so can’t be sure that it’s always so quick. Only criticism is that we could have done with a plate to put the food onto. We had the curry and rice served in small individual dishes on a wooden board unlike other restaurants that give you a heated plate to spoon your food onto. Overall very nice.
We had a wonderful lunch. The staff were attentive and the food was amazing!
I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We were late and the staff were accommodating to this. I ordered the masala chips, chicken tikka and chickpea taco things. The chips were so overcooked and the chickpea tacos were basically just coriander. The curry was amazing if I'm honest. Beer selection is good but due to barely any service or check ins by waitressing staff you barely get a chance to try anything. The interior was cool and the music was fun. I would go back but would like the waiters to have some form of direction.
meal was enjoyable liked the different otems
Great service!! Food was amazing and will definitely recommend to friends and family.
A thouroghly enjoyable experience for our first time to Crossing the Rubicon. The food was very tasty and we really enjoyed tasting the various beers. Overall, a great place.
