About Crossing The Rubicon
We were using an Itison voucher which made this exceptionally good value for money, but the food, drink and service were very good anyway
Great food, great value, music was top drawer. Will definitely be back x
I enjoyed the food on offer and really enjoyed the retro background music, chilled out atmosphere and genuine friendliness of the staff.
Food was amazing and great value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Had a lovely night at CTR as part of an ITISON deal. Lovely staff, very attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Lovely relaxed vibe. Food was tasty and plentiful and excellent value. Would happily recommend.
I'd been to Crossing the Rubicon before and really enjoyed my visits but this visit wasn't up to par. Having made a reservation we were given a table but didn't receive menus and no-one came to take a drinks order. When we then collected our own menus we were moved to a new table. We were at the table for 15 minutes before someone came to take our order (we had to then make our drinks order as the staff member didn't ask us if we wanted drinks). Although the food was great the newer menu is very limited and the dishes weren't as easy to share around the group. After bringing our food to us the next time a staff member spoke to us was when they came to collect our plates at the end of the meal (which was a bit disappointing as we felt a bit forgotten about). We knew that there was due to be a pub quiz, so we booked a table earlier so that we could finish before it started. Although the quiz hadn't started yet the host was playing music quite loudly, to the point that we couldn't hear each other across the table. I understand that the host's job is to get everyone in the mood but it definitely unsettled some of the tables around us too. I'm sorry to be giving such a negative review but I feel that my experience fell short of the service that I've had at Crossing the Rubicon in the past and the other guests at our table said that based on that particular visit they probably wouldn't return for food.
Booking was fairly last minute and in the comments I requested a table with a view of the screen for the rugby if it was possible and this was done for us. Food and service was excellent. I requested a spicier chicken tikka and the kitchen nailed it. Will definitely be back.
Excellent food, beer & service
Food was excellent
Brilliant food Needs a children's menu We will return
Had a lovely time!
Lovely food at a great price. The service was great but there was only one other couple in the restaurant at the same time so can’t be sure that it’s always so quick. Only criticism is that we could have done with a plate to put the food onto. We had the curry and rice served in small individual dishes on a wooden board unlike other restaurants that give you a heated plate to spoon your food onto. Overall very nice.
We had a wonderful lunch. The staff were attentive and the food was amazing!
I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We were late and the staff were accommodating to this. I ordered the masala chips, chicken tikka and chickpea taco things. The chips were so overcooked and the chickpea tacos were basically just coriander. The curry was amazing if I'm honest. Beer selection is good but due to barely any service or check ins by waitressing staff you barely get a chance to try anything. The interior was cool and the music was fun. I would go back but would like the waiters to have some form of direction.
meal was enjoyable liked the different otems
Great service!! Food was amazing and will definitely recommend to friends and family.
A thouroghly enjoyable experience for our first time to Crossing the Rubicon. The food was very tasty and we really enjoyed tasting the various beers. Overall, a great place.
Good beer, food and pleasant service.
Such a great concept; a great pub with quality Indian food. Have been a couple of times now and am always thoroughly impressed - a small menu but with plenty of options for vegans/gluten-free folk which is great. Service and atmosphere always excellent too. 5*
We had a lovely night. Staff could very attentive. Food was lovely. Was really busy. Had a good table. Will be back.
Really love the menu here - so different and exciting. A few small gripes but overall a great experience. We had booked online for last Wednesday and requested a window seat but were shown to an internal table without any acknowledgement of our request. However, the staff were otherwise extremely friendly and helpful if a little overstretched. We wanted to try so much and got great advice in narrowing it down. Unfortunately we ordered the vegan version of the Mumbai Sandwich and were told this wasn't available. So we came back specially on Saturday to try this and again the front of house staff weren't sure if vegan version was available - although at this stage we said although preferring the vegan version we would take either, when it was brought to the table we weren't told if it was the vegan one or not. The food and beer over the two visits were really good especially the masala chips and vada pav which were exceptional - some of the best food we've ever had.
After reading some great reviews I was genuinely looking forward to trying this place out. However, after being kept waiting 15 minutes for our table the disappointment continued when as soon as we sat down a pub style quiz began. We were the only people in the restaurant not participating and it was the most awkward setting for a romantic meal! I don't understand why they couldn't have warned us this when we booked? The choice of beers was fab and the food was quite nice but I don't think we'll be back. Too much of a disappointment.
Good food, nice range of beers, awesome quiz night!
Outstanding food with loads of choice and superb taste. Staff are brilliant. Great beers.
