About Croes Howell Restaurant Bar and Grill
We are surrounded by some of the county’s finest producers, which is why our menu is based on fresh, locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients. The Croes Howell is set on the border of the Cheshire Countryside, offering beautiful views during the day and a relaxing atmosphere at night, and is within easy reach of Chester and Wrexham.
Food was excellent the quality of the cooking was a cut above normal restaurant food. A limited menu but we would happily have chosen anything from it.
Very good service, staff are welcoming and friendly, as always.very nice food, good gluten free choices.
Food was Amazing drinks were ok, lager Carlsberg
Sunday lunch was good.
Very nice-will be back!
Menu was inspirational something different to what you eat at home, and did not disappoint on arrival, looked lovely and tasted great. Will definitely return.
Wonderful meal& service
Always great food and service. One of my favourite places
Always made to feel welcome. Service was excellent. We attended with our 12month old grandson. He was also made to feel welcome and the staff made a big fuss of him. Food was good and enjoyed by all.
Brilliant service, very good quality food and the evening was made extra special with all the little personalised touches that was very much appreciated. I have already recommended this restaurant to friends, family and work colleagues, and tagged a picture of my very happy parents in my Instagram story. Couldn’t fault the service or the food and will definitely be coming back soon.
All v good. Only had 4 stars for atmosphere as it was a quiet night when we ate with you.
After being bought a voucher for the croes howell we decided to use it for our wedding anniversary. On going last Saturday night we were sorely disappointed. On arriving we were seated and had drinks brought quite quickly. However, we were left waiting for quite a while before ordering our food. On asking the waitress what the soup of the day was we were told cream of vegetable which my husband ordered along with a rolled beef brisket with broccoli and a mushroom jus for his main. When my husbands starter came the soup in actual fact was tomato not vegetable and my husband could not eat it. We complained and we're told it would be kncoked off the bill and then the owner offered my husband a free drink as an apology which was a nice gesture. When my husbands main came, not only was it only lukewarm but was nothing like the description on the menu. Instead of a brisket rolled with vegetables and tenders temperature broccoli with a mushroom jus it was a bed of horseradish mash with what can only be described as a casserole poured over the top with pretty raw cabbage not broccoli next to it and there was no sign of a mushroom jus at all. It was so disappointing as we had been looking forward to coming here after wanting to go for a few years. The setting is gorgeous and the views amazing. It was just such a shame that the food was nowhere near the standard that we were expecting. The owner could not have been nicer however and had knocked all of our drinks off the bill. I hope that once he finds his feet here and that things improve for the better and there will be more people dining there as, by 9.10 pm there was only my husband and I still there. The chefs were very young and obviously inexperienced. It just put a dampener on things for us as it was our anniversary celebration.
Lovely food, staff very attentive. Decor nice. Only thing I would say is that the hand wash in the ladies loo could do with replacing but apart from that - lovely !
Had a lovly evening, my only comment would be that the starters could be a little bigger , as they were so nice I felt I need a bit more , many thanks sc
Awesome afternoon tea brunch with sausage rolls and amazing cakes! 👍🏻
First visit to Croes Howell and definitely be going again. Party of 9 people and everyone enjoyed every course. The fillet steak is to die for!!! Staff lovely, pleasant and nothing too much trouble. We will see you again soon!
Myself and 5 friends came for afternoon tea yesterday. The sandwiches were plentiful and the cakes were to die for. The lemon drizzle and blackberry cake was amazeballs! Staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, a perfectly plesant afternoon.
Actually was quite pleasant, food in general was of good quality, the duck egg was questionable and once it got busy the service was none existent, we skipped desert and just paid the bill, would however use again and book a window seat
All in ideal location for a lunch time meeting, service very good, food very good only minor quibble would be possibly a little high on price for a steak at lunchtime would attract more people. Thank you and I will be back.
Always a great place to eat.
Lovely food in lovely surroundings.
Cons - Menu a bit pretentious, two out of six items ordered unavailable, main man (Italian bloke?) has seemed miserable on the two occasions we've been. Pros - food good, decent portions and reasonably priced, wonderful view.
I had sunday lunch with my son and we both thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the view! Beautiful venue - excellent experience - would highly recommend.
Love dining here always have a lovely meal and staff are so lovely and welcoming
Croes Howell staff went above and beyond when looking after my parents for their 40th Wedding Anniversary meal. They allowed us to decorate the table with personal touches and even personalised their dessert for an extra treat. Both my parents thoroughly enjoyed their amazing food and said the staff were attentive and so welcoming and polite. Thanks everyone, we can’t wait to come back.
