Lovely Sunday lunch roast potatoes a little hard but otherwise very tasty

Excellent food and service as usual .
Excellent food and great service. Will definitely book again. Looking forward to seeing the refurbishment.
The food and staff are amazing x
We booked for 10 people here for my wife's birthday and we had a fantastic night. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and The food was great with a wide range selection on the menu to suit all tastes. The staff were brilliant and couldn't ďo enough for you. We will definitely be back. Thank you all at Croes Howell for making my wife's birthday a special occasion.
I booked the Croes Howell for a Leaving Party for my colleagues and we had a fantastic night! The atmosphere was buzzing, the food was delicious and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Could not recommend more and will be booking again!!! Thank you to you all!
Nice food. Not much choice of desert, how about a cheesboard
We came as a party of 12 to celebrate two birthdays. We had been before for lunch on a week day a few months earlier as a party of 3 and as it had been so fantastic we decided to book again. Sadly though, for a number of reasons, it was no where near as good. Initially the staff were very accommodating, even whilst there they tried to be but to me there was too few staff working for how busy it was. There were very long delays between courses. The drinks were incredibly expensive, virtually £5 for a pint of San Miguel. One of the party had the fish dish which was incredible he said, the majority of the party had roasts but all had minimal vegetables and the roast potatoes were hard and the whole meal tasteless. The two members of the party whose birthdays it was had the worst food sadly. I had pre-ordered macaroni cheese for my vegetarian daughter and it came on it's own with nothing else, no garnish, no veg, garlic bread, nothing. The worst thing was though that it was burnt. There were black bits in it and it reeked of being burnt. She couldn't eat it. No member of staff came over to apologise after I had explained why she hadn't eaten it to the waitress, no-one offered her anything else to eat or say we wouldn't have to pay. We had to refuse ourselves to pay for it. The other member of the party whose birthday it was, my elderly mother-in-law, had ham and chips with egg. She actually had to leave the ham as it was hard and she couldn't chew it. The chips we agreed were certainly not as nice as before either. Better cutlery would be advantageous as well. We had a lot of meat dishes yet the knives were not for meat, they were so blunt. We all struggled. The setting of the restaurant is stunning and we do know it can produce excellent food, it was such a shame though that it wasn't on the day we went. Maybe, if the restaurant knows it's going to be busy as it would have done, it should have thought more of staff levels, in the kitchen and waiting on. We paid A LOT of money that day, it would have been nice to have felt it was worth it.
Very good service and good food choice
The only thing I would suggest is more vegetarian options on the menu rather than too many rice dishes, the service was excellent and the food was lovely
I was disappointed there was no vegan option as a starter and none for dessert although I assume the sorbet probably was. Luckily I am not a strict vegan so as it was a special occasion I decided to have the lemon meringue tart but was a little disappointed when it arrived as I was expecting the more traditional lemon meringue tart with the soft topping that I used to love. I think a better description of your dessert would be a lemon tart with a meringue crumb. I also felt that the vegan main of stuffed sweet potato a little overpriced for what it was compared to other things on the menu, and I found it a little too salty and a bit small in portion size. The other two in the party did enjoy their meals though and the service was good.
Our first visit, rather disappointing. 2 of the 4 of us had mussels as a starter, only 10 mussels between us, 4 of which were closed. We did mention this and nothing was said at the time or later!! The other 2 said their mains were poor!
Nice food, lovely staff. No complaints!
make sure the cutlery is clean, otherwise as usual food & service very good
Lovely lunch, and beuatiful setting. See you again soon. Thank you Sandra Forkin
Lovely food Had haddock & chips Was amazing Mushy peas to die for Attentive friendly staff
Serving a party of 10 is not an easy thing, however, your team managed to serve us all with our respective meals, mostly from the a La Carte menu, simultaneously which doesn’t always happen in other venues. Our meals were served well, looked appealing and tasted great. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
The food quality and presentation is even better than the dishes sound on paper!
Excellent service and food as always. Would highly recommend to anyone
Lovely lunch. Good value with Gourmet Society card.
A lovely evening with friends & the food choices were great. I felt that the vegetarian/vegan meal I had was rather pricey compared to the traditional meat and fish dishes my friends had.
