About Crathorne Hall
The original dining room in the mansion house is where you will now find The Leven Restaurant - awarded an AA Rosette - which retains a wealth of period charm from its high ceilings and original sash windows.
Providing an elegant setting for dinner, the menu at The Leven is characterised by modern British dining, offering the best of the season with plenty of local influences. Dishes change regularly though diners can expect to find wood pigeon from the Yorkshire Dales, Pork from Bishop Auckland, Yorkshire ham and cheeses from Harrogate.
Sit back and relax in our elegant lounges for a classic afternoon tea, or enjoy a cocktail, freshly brewed coffee or glass of fine wine in The Nancy Tennant Bar, where the period detailing really stands out.
I booked champagne afternoon tea as a treat for my best friend who is nursing a terminal relative. I rand ahead a day before my visit to say is it ok for me to have tea instead of champagne I was told yes no problem. However when we arrived we were told no you cant change to tea and if you do you need to pay for each afternoon tea and not use ur voucher. I thought this was a naff attitude and response didnt want to cause a scene at hotel so paid and left. However when I got home I rang and complained, Crathorne is my go to for afternoon tea etc as it is beautiful however this has put me off somewhat.
Excellent service and food great experience
Lovely afternoon tea. Fantastic friendly staff as always.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
We are never disappointed at Crathorne Hall. Wether afternoon tea or actually staying there for a break. That’s why we keep coming back. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you. Thankyou so much.
Visited a number of times, for lunch, evening meal etc. Service a little disappointing this visit, few times had to go looking for staff for assistance. Would still recommended.
Our Sunday lunch was just delicious, from the perfectly cooked beef to the crispy potatoes and al dente cooked veg. Our starters and puddings were great too. Always made so welcome by the staff, nothing is ever too much for them. A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly reccomend, such good value too.
Visited several times and have always had a lovely time. Lovely staff, nothing to much trouble for them.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Points that let the day down were as follows- Bar man when for a cigarette leaving the back door open which let all the cold air and smell of smoke blow through the bar area which is not at all appealing when were eating, with a baby and also non smokers.
Fantastic service and great quality afternoon tea.
Excellent food, but the service was quite slow. Staff were very pleasant and friendly however.
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch but my wife is still looking for the Crayfish in her Crayfish and Prawn cocktail, she did mention this at the time but was told the chef must have missed them out ??
Very friendly staff, nothing was too much of a bother, unfortunately the television was turned on for the football results, I suppose we were in the bar area
We enjoyed our afternoon tea very much. Our server, Gloria was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
Great starter and really well cooked Sirloin and tasty pudding. The only reason why food and drink didn't receive 5 stars was the main course was lovely but only warm and the usual complaint that drinks are really expensive, not unusual for a hotel of this calibre but I cannot help thinking that the hotel should sell a lot more wine if the prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was perfect and staff were really helpful and attentive.
Sunday lunch was amazing with very good service. Highly recommended!
Another lovely afternoon treat Spectacular venue and attentive and courteous service from friendly staff.
The sandwich filling was barely there therefore you couldn’t really taste it. In some the taste of butter overwhelmed the filling. The scones were beautiful. The attention paid to my elderly mother was lovely and she was made to feel really special so thank you
Superb service, lovely food.
I booked afternoon tea as a treat for my wife . We were shuffled into the bar area away from the vast majority of afternoon tea dinners who were in a comfortable lounge. The bar was full of drinkers and therefore the afternoon tea experience was rubbish. The food was average at best certainly not afternoon tea finesse. The waiter although very pleasant kept appologising for running out of tea pots cups and food.A cleaner was hoovering the hotel staircase ( it was 5pm on a Sunday). Overhall I felt extremely disappointed and at £21.50 per person a complete waste of money .
Lovely afternoon tea and great service, we brought our one year old son and were accommodated really well
Enjoyed a delicious champagne afternoon tea, service was exceptional, then we had a walk around the lovely grounds.
Beautiful food, friendly service, lovely ambience. Only tiny negative was that the tea could have hotter, but we had a great time.
Friendly and attentive staff lovely afternoon tea would recommend.
Fantastic afternoon tea
