About Crathorne Hall
The original dining room in the mansion house is where you will now find The Leven Restaurant - awarded an AA Rosette - which retains a wealth of period charm from its high ceilings and original sash windows.
Providing an elegant setting for dinner, the menu at The Leven is characterised by modern British dining, offering the best of the season with plenty of local influences. Dishes change regularly though diners can expect to find wood pigeon from the Yorkshire Dales, Pork from Bishop Auckland, Yorkshire ham and cheeses from Harrogate.
Sit back and relax in our elegant lounges for a classic afternoon tea, or enjoy a cocktail, freshly brewed coffee or glass of fine wine in The Nancy Tennant Bar, where the period detailing really stands out.
service was very good and the food was excellent and certainly not expensive for an establishment of this standard
Sandwich fillings were very scant. Not up to usual standards
Once again fantastic afternoon tea and perfect service
Brought my mum and daughter for champagne afternoon tea. It was delicious as usual and the lemon syallabub was fabulous. The service was outstanding and Our waitress, Annabel, was a delight and made my mum feel special.
We had a champagne afternoon tea for four and from arriving to leaving the staff were very friendly and pleasant even putting them selves out to come over and have a chat. The afternoon tea was very nice with a excellent mixture of flavours . Also the room in which we had afternoon tea in was lovely and comfortable. Definitely will be going back again soon .
The only thing I could pick fault with was at breakfast the sausage was over done and quite tough, apart from that everything else was delicious I would definitely recommend the tasting menu.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and great value for money. Will definitely be returning.
We came for afternoon tea and had a sweet and a savoury which were both delicious. We were in the 2 for 1 deal which was fantastic. Thank you so much x
Whilst eating our Sunday meal a number of tours entered the room as part of the wedding fair tour which ruined our meal and made it uncomfortable
Really really nice
We were disappointed with our visit. The food was luke warm and lacked flavour unfortunately. A drink was dropped on us while serving. The dining room is very nice and a great place to eat but unfortunately the food lets it down. We were over charged initially and even when this was corrected it was a surprise to be charged full price for a 9 year old.
We had a savoury and a sweet afternoon tea between us which was quite sufficient. We also had a glass of champagne. The quality of the food was very high and I would certainly go again.
Enjoyed afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. Will book an overnight stay for Anniversary.
An excellent relaxing time in a lovely hotel. Thank you
Took my mum for afternoon tea ..what a beautiful setting. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. Will definitely be back for a longer visit later on this year. Highly recommended
A lovely afternoon tea in beautifully elegant surroundings. The staff were attentive and provided excellent service even though they were very busy. The quality of the afternoon tea was outstanding. Thank You for an enjoyable afternoon.
Hostess was very observant and noticed my tea hadn't arrived with the other drinks. Very chatty and friendly. Food was gorgeous. Drinks were expensice, £25 for 3 shandies and a tea
We had a fabulous afternoon tea with you. Everything was just great. You make everyone so welcome and nothing is too much trouble for you. The food was delicious as always. Especially the gluten free, dairy free option for my daughter which she said was the best ever. Thank you so very much. Happy New Year to you all.
Very friendly asiatique woman for the welcome and the service
We got two festive afternoon tea and it was not really festive, there was a mini mince pie and a mouthful of a turkey and cranberry roll. Not particularly festive. The pasty on the chocolate and cherry dessert was very soft I would say not cooked. There were two types of scones and the fruit ones were very poor, flat one one was squashed, not what you would expect from a AA rosette. The staff were welcoming and lovely but the room lacked Christmas flare and the food disappointing. This is why it is not aloud for money.
Fantastic service from very attentive staff who made us feel welcomed. The food and atmosphere was lovely, a lovely Christmas Eve treat, we will be back
Booked for festive afternoon tea and the waitress/waiter service was 100%, very friendly and polite staff.
Beautiful place , excellent food and extremely welcoming friendly staff, what more can you ask for
Food was very good. Savoury option was a great idea. Tea was a little cold. We were in the bar area which got a bit loud and crowded for a while but staff did move us to a much better table. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. They were very helpful to my elderly mother who is partially sighted. We had a great time.
It was cold.
