About Cranston’s Restaurant
Cranston’s Restaurant sets the tone for truly memorable meals. Set in a graceful dining room with high ceilings, elegant crown molding and the best views of Princes Street in Edinburgh,
our restaurant offers fresh, local Scottish fayre for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Please join us at our table, where the Victorian ambiance is as comforting and cosy as the cuisine.
Booked online for Monday 3rd August as the website said they were open and I received a booking confirmation via email. We were running a little late so called to advise only to be told the restaurant was closed. Not only was I disappointed from the representative that advised me of the closure but to rub salt in the wound I received an email to rate my experience. Joke!
We had a window table with great view of Edinburgh Castle and Scott Monument, although it was a little draughty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the food was well presented and tasty, and the service was efficient and friendly.
The restaurant had a very nice warm feeling, with lovely views to Princes St gardens. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.
I was with a Canadian gentleman who thought the place and views were outstanding and he'll definitely go there again before he goes back to Canada.
I will be very honest. We stayed at the hotel for the weekend. It’s very clean. There are some very pleasant staff there. Not all staff are aware of the need for effective customer service. The food at this restaurant is dreadful. Do not waste your money - the server was wonderful but clearly Chef was either a night off or having a bad evening. My partner was very ill all night from the food. It’s a shame it’s a wonderful hotel, very nostalgic, the dining room is beautiful but the food appeared frozen and reheated. This may suit some people but it didn’t suit us. We all work hard for our money and it pains me to leave a bad review but there are better places to eat in Edinburgh. This restaurant could be wonderful - it’s a shame.
Helpful staff and flexible chef. A very pleasant lunch.
Great staff , very attentive. Will return next time I am in the city.
Meal for my dad's 85th birthday. Staff were extremely helpful and food was excellent
