About Cox’s Yard
A once thriving timber yard, this charming and ruggedly handsome building now welcomes the visitors & locals of Stratford-upon-Avon as a lively riverside pub & restaurant.
Serving up honest eats, an impressive range of lagers, real ales, wines & spirits as well as weekly live music performances, we offer a relaxed dining & drinking destination that can be enjoyed by everyone.
The room we were allocated was too small for the numbers we had (22) and we had been allocated 6 tables of 4 which for a work meal was not fit for purpose. The drink orders took far too long to come , if they came at all and i'm pretty sure we were charged for ones that never came. We were missing a starter so i got mine once most had finished. We then didn't get a burger until again nearly everyone had finished. The lights went off several times and this wasn't mentioned/ apologised for at all? no one came to check if things were going ok or to ask if we needed anything. The food itself was ok with large portions and the majority coming out in a timely manner( apart from the missing ones in the first two courses) The drink service was shocking- one of the worst i have experienced.
Booked a reservation 2 weeks before visiting.. to then be told on the day they wasn’t doing food inside (where we had booked) as they was short staffed. It wasn’t until I raised what they was going to do to help us did they try and offer us something else. They was serving food outside (where we’d asked to sit half an hour before our booking time) to then be told we couldn’t reserve a table ?! After dealing with the fourth memeber of staff we was shoved in some “snug” which wasn’t clean and absolutely no atomosphere!!!! To then be told we had to go outside to order our dinner. No sorry from any staff, just made to feel like we was being a pain !!!
Greeted by the manager , we asked if we could sit outside he said no we would have to wait in the queue if we wanted to sit outside . We weren’t actually that bothered about waiting although we had booked but his nature was aggressive and unwelcoming, we had never been there before so this instantly left us feeling uneasy and not happy to be there . Because the weather was beautiful we decided to wait. The food was good but the service was very slow. Such a shame the manager wasn’t more accommodating he is literally the difference between a good review and a bad one. Although the location was idilic we won’t be revisiting.
Thank you for the friendly service.
We held my Husbands surprise 50th at Cox's yard with 100 people in attendance and it was the most fantastic evening, every aspect! Food, drink, service, band, and Stuart coordinating from booking to the evening, all fantastic! Thank you
Made a booking but they didn't check too see if we had. Sat on very high booths with a small baby that needed a high chair but the table was so high the high chair was too low for my child to comfortably eat at. The staff were friendly enough Food was ok, kids serviings were way too big. The pie I had was very average and tasted too sweet got sick of it after about half way through. The onion rings were massive but just greasy, didn't eat any of them, tried one but wasn't great. Overall very average and I probably wouldn't dine there again or recommend to anyone.
A fantastic relaxed venue for our wedding celebration party. Our guests thought the food was brilliant with plenty of it. We and our guests enjoyed every minute.
Unfortunately it was freezing, I can only assume your heating had broken and so we couldn’t warm up. I loved the fairy light but being cold was awful. I enjoyed my starter which was a scotch egg but the burgers were disappointing, the bread wasn’t nice and the burger was cold. So not that happy with it. We were ordering drinks as people arrived and it took ages for them to get to the table, not sure why as there seemed to be plenty of staff waiting around.
Service could have been better. Had to keep asking for things. One member of our party had to wait over 15 mins before his drink arrived. Waitress not good. Food very good. Quite a chilly building wear a jumper.
We have used cox's yard on a monthly basis over the past few months for a social event of between 24-45 people. The venue is perfect, allowing us to setup the room to suit our requirements and the staff have always been accomodating and helpful.
