About Countryman Inn
The Countryman is surrounded by stunning open countryside set close to the small village of Shipley, the 3,500 acres of farmland owned by the Knepp Castle Estate provides the perfect backdrop for a pub lunch in the beer garden or an evening in front of the fireplace.
Inside you’ll find warming log fires in the winter, and cask conditioned Harvey’s and Organic Horsham ales in the cosy bar, together with over 30 wines from around the world.

Great food and service. We will return very soon.
My wife enjoyed her pate starter & steak meal as she needs to be careful with food combinations. I thought my sesame prawn toast starter was top price for what I had.My crab meal with a salad was straightforwardly presented. Enjoyed the music and atmosphere.
As usual, the food was excellent-slight criticism parsnips with fish seemed odd-my wife left hers.Unfortunately our waitress forgot the jug of water I ordered with our wine. She also forgot our dessert, and I had to go to the bar where she was having a chat to get her attention. She rushed to the kitchen, and we waited a total of 35 minutes for our dessert. The music was good, but due to forgotten water we watched it for an hour with nothing to drink.
Food was excellent, will certainly be back.
Amazing food as always.
Delicious food and great service!
we had a fabulous meal as usual at the countryman, dissapointed with one first course, but that was explained to us by the lovely young lady who served us. Excellent service, and as usual a fabulous meal. thankyou lynn
Please please change the music!!
Friendly and welcoming. Sunday lunch was good and although busy the meal came promptly.
Another excellent meal at the Countryman.
Had venison and pheasant from the specials menu..yet again outstanding! Repeat customer!
Food was fab & both ladies that served us were absolutely lovely will definitely be returning.
Great food will definitely be back for more
Fantastic food and great value in a unique setting. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Countryman for making our Christmas Eve so special,
Lovely evening great company, good food would recommend to all my friends
Excellent country pub and superb fayre
This is a great place for us as a family to eat as we have such varied diets including two vegetarians, one gluten free. The food is excellent and I have waited all Summer for the vegetable curry to come back on to the Winter menu. Yum! Service is efficient and very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent value for money
We go here regularly despite the fact that we live in Essex.
Lovely attentive staff, tasty hot food and happy atmosphere.
Superb food. Creative choices along with some old favourites. Very highly recommend.
Always a pleasure to dine here- food excellent quality.
Always reliable for a jolly good meal and good service. Thank you, Countryman.
Sunday roast is always excellent here.
An ideal venue for a family get together. Place was busy but service was not affected. Excellent time had by all and will definitely return.
Very busy resturant but service and friendliness of staff was excellent. Main course standard menu has become more limited which is a shame but quality still first class
