About Cosy Club Exeter
Exeter Cosy Club opened in April 2013. Located on the ground floor of the old Dean Clarke Hospital’s Halford Wing in Southernhay.
Entering Exeter Cosy Club through what was the hospital’s chapel entrance you arrive into a theatrical space. With high ceilings and striking ‘institutional’ features in addition to the wonderful ambience.
The building is split down the middle with the bar to your left as you enter and the restaurant filling the right hand side of the building. There’s also a terrace cantilevered off the back of the building where you’ll be able to enjoy the sunshine during the summer months. Cosy Club Exeter takes the meaning of the word ‘quirky’ to a different level; the bar is inspired by an operating table and is illuminated with surgical lighting whilst the walls are adorned with oil paintings, taxidermy, anatomical charts, and Eastern Bloc propaganda. Added to which is the usual eclectic mix of reclaimed furniture, opulent Victorian lampshades and original 1960’s Concorde hangar lights and there you have it. Oh, and if you’re feeling fancy, why not dine in ‘The Snug’, a Victorian tarot card reader’s inspired room which can seat up to 14 people. There’s nothing quite like the Cosy Club in Exeter, or even Devon for that matter, that is for sure.
Good food and place, the waitress was not so inviting through which was a bit of a shame, but honestly not a problem.
It did take quite a few attempts to try and find a place where all colleagues would find something they would like to eat on the menu - the Cosy Club provided the ideal menu choices for us. The food was brilliant - no leftovers is always a good sign! It would be great if the cocktail 'happy hour' could be extended to finish at 8pm! A lovely time was had by all!
Really great meal. There was a mishap in the kitchen for our starters, but our waitress gave us some complimentary drinks as apology!
Dining at Cosy Club Exeter was an excellent experience.
Fab lunch with wonderful service! I'll be back
Absolutely amazing place. Couldn't ask for better food, I literally loved everything I ate, the cocktails are to die for, the atmosphere was very relaxed and exciting at the same time. The staff we're fantastic, so friendly and helpful. I wil be visiting again very soon.
Never fails us - each time we have visited Exeter's Cosy Club the food has been outstanding and the service second to none.
Excellent atmosphere made even better with great food
Our waitress was just the right level of attention to our requirements. She welcomed us and settled us and we enjoyed unhurried service. Our meals were average and the wine rather over-priced for what is was. The acoustics made the room quite noisy but as we were celebrating graduation, we expected a busy atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere and great food!
Looks nothing from the outside which makes the impact of the decor and furnishings inside a real surprise. Great atmosphere- relaxed, easy, informal but special
Fantastic retro concept from converted hospital Staff depress looking the part fitting in with decor. All knowledgeable on menu. Really good cocktail menu. We had a big selection of tapas and breads fantastic finger food loved the spinach and goats cheese crocketts
Had a fantastic time and would come here again!
We had a lovely meal - only thing is that we asked for a quieter table (two of us were a bit hard of hearing) and were put right in the middle of the restaurant! Otherwise though, friendly staff, delicious food, fab gluten free menu, great for kids - really nice meal. Thanks very much.
Ideal for a party night with real mates. Great menu, something for everyone. Good quality wine at reasonable prices. Amazing atmosphere. Service is friendly but really efficient, you can trust this place to make your night memorable for all the right reasons. We will keep coming back. Liz
We had a lovely evening out with our friends. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the cocktails were lovely! We would definitely recommend Cosy Club and are planning on visiting again soon.
Friendly staff and really nice atmosphere
We had a wonderful end of term meal in The Snug which suited us really well as we are a party with several Deaf or hearing impaired friends. Acoustics in the main restaurant can be a bit tricky! Service was polite and friendly as well as efficient and the food was great. Thankyou.
Wednesday evening was a lot quieter than usual. Usually we go for tapas at lunch time, which is always delicious. The service was excellent, attentive but not overpowering, friendly but not simpering. Our waitress was spot on. The food was amazing. I don't say this lightly, the belly pork was absolutely sumptious, the steak cooked to perfection. All arrived promptly with care to detail. The drinks were generously proportioned.
Friendly staff and tasty food.
Food was very tasty and brought out quickly despite it being busy
Had an amazing time for our wedding anniversary with our son , will definitely be coming back soon
Service was very slow. There were not many people in the restaurant. We ordered drinks and a jug of water - the water did not arrive. We ordered food and reminded the waiter we wanted water - the water did not arrive. Eventually we just went to the bar and got it ourselves. When the waiver cleared our plates, we immediately asked for the bill due to the slow service. When he brought the bill, we asked to pay immediately and the waiter went off and served other people, and it took us getting up to go before he came and took the payments.
A great place to meet friends. Always top rated service and excellent food. Just love the place.
