The Coppernose restaurant takes its name from Henry VIII who was nicknamed “Coppernose” after he issued cheap currency. During the English Reformation, Henry’s kingdom amassed great wealth and property by confiscating Catholic monasteries. Nevertheless, by the end of his reign Henry’s funds ran low and he was forced to lower the percentage of silver in British coinage, to the point where they were mostly copper with a silver coating that wore away from the relief image of Henry’s face, starting with the nose
A vibrant, stylish yet relaxed place to eat and drink with a great selection of wines and tasty food. Sample dishes include Flamed English Asparagus, broad beans, watercress and fried duck egg…Atlantic Lobster and Prawn Cocktail, gems, sriracha and lemon…Mediterranean vegetables and puy lentils, basil oil, confit garlic and baba ganoush.
Very dirty outside on arrival . Dog poo in outside pots and empty beer bottles. Staff nit behind screens. No masks on waiting staff Not acceptable leaning over people on tables Without masks First time ever been to a restaurant and found this. No hand sanitiser on tables Too much handling of cutlery Waiting staff standing about chatting not social distancing Waited a long time fir a drink and service while they chatted. Tables wiped over too quickly with the same cloth Chairs should be wiped too especially handles Thought I was coming fir a nice dinner and found ourselves in a bar with drinkers only Did not feel nice Whole place did not feel Covid safe Came because you came knocking on doors with offer No wine offered Front of house Staff continually walking about Chef coming out and sitting with mates during service The whole thing was utterly unsatisfactory
We wanted the 1665 but not open. So cafe food was a disappointment. This was assembly-line 'cooking' Melon/Prosciutto, Asparagus/Beans. Looked pretty. But my Lobster/Prawns at £12 was 'cheeky'....tiny prawns, mainly lettuce, avocado and tomatoes. And tasteless sauce.I couldn't see any lobster. The lack of meat on menu meant I had to have a 'burger'. Cafe OK for ladies who lunch and nice view. But you'll need to do better than this. But accept you've only just opened and you'll learn as you go along. General impression 'over-hyped'.
Beautiful place with very nice staff
Excellent food and service. I'll be back again soon!
We loved our visit to Coppernose- we are local and have been waiting for a place like this to open . Service food and ambiance was so good . We will be back very soon .
It is new but more marketing when appropriate will attract more clientele and provide more atmosphere
Stunning setting overlooking the river; elegantly and interestingly furnished; excellent range of choice on the menu; charming and helpful staff.
Excellent lunch experience yesterday, I would highly recommend!
Can’t recommend highly enough. Sensational food beautifully presented. Attentive and professional staff. Lovely ambience. Fantastic riverside location.
An excellent addition to Thames riverside dining.
It was the 2nd day of your opening so we just had some cocktails and a dessert. Despite needing to book we were accommodated in a timely manner. The service staff were impeccable and very friendly. I loved the decor and am looking forward to coming back for dinner in your other restaurant 1665
I really like what you have done with this venue, it was such a hidden gem that so needed what you have done to it. You have done a fantastic job, and as a local, will be somewhere I will come a lot. It would be great if in the future (I know you are under covid restrictions re numbers) If you had a section on your website for booking a table outside in your garden area. So you could sit outside without taking up the internal reservation slots. I also think your orangery would be a fabulous area to do your afternoon teas as has a vibe that would be great for that . Well done fabulous venue
Excellent and beautifully presented
Service was shocking, sadly. Waiters clearly not trained. Slow service. Strange customer care skills. Lack of attention to detail. Food fabulous. And new decor, lovely. Shame we didn’t have a better experience as it’s very local and was looking forward to making it a regular dinner/drink spot.
Lovely place beautiful scenic views
What a delight The Mitre is! The interiors are truly spectacular and really make the most of the hotel's incredible riverside location. The food at the Coppernose restaurant is exactly what you want to see on a relaxed yet stylish menu. Chef Ronnie Kimbugwe's food is exciting, original and most importantly - absolutely delicious. The service was excellent too. I can't wait to return.
Lovely warm welcoming atmosphere with delicious food and drink. Looking forward to going back.
Very relaxed, informal atmosphere, however the food, service and wines are of an excellent standard. In my opinion this is the perfect mix. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, with wonderful views of the river. Shall go again
