We came here for our last meal in New Zealand and it was great - a worthy location and great meal.
Fabulous dining experience- staff were friendly and efficient & food was excellent and very reasonably priced . A lovely dining oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We've started coming to Cooke's for our family events and anniversaries and so far have only been delighted.
Lunar High Tea was excellent. The staff were very attentive and genuinely sincere, and the chef even came out to explain the vegan/dairy-free desserts. It was absolutely lovely.
The staff were efficient and attentive which makes the dining experience all the more enjoyable. Of course, the high tea was absolutely delightful.

My mum and I came in for the Lunar high tea last Sunday and it was absolutely fantastic. From the food to the service, we had an amazing experience. We've gone for many high teas around Auckland and this one was by far our favourite. Thank you!

I use a wheelchair and there was 4 stairs. They did have a lift but it was up 1 lift along a corridor and down another and their reasoning was there was no room for a ramp which I didn't like.

Small plates were awesome but the lamb shanks were not great. The cut was a foreshank rather than hindshank and the meat didn't taste fresh. the waiting staff was fantastic though and the ambiance classy.
With having a dietary option it would have been a lot nicer if it was presented in the same way as the regular high tea because it really destroyed a lot of the atmosphere and also ruined my partner’s birthday. The food was the highlight of the high tea the service was mediocre I used to work in two hotels that did a high tea and we told them about the tea where it comes from and what the tasting notes are and that is what made the experience for us when we went hereto was not a great as when we were sat down at the table we were not asked about our dietary needs and who had them, I had to go up to the reception of the restaurant and find out for myself. Over all this was the worst high tea experience I have ever been too and I might not come back ever again.
We stayed at the Grand Windsor from 30 Dec until 1 Jan and therefore we had breakfast twice as well as New Year’s Dinner. The menu for the dinner was very nice - 8 course meal and one of us chose the paired wine menu. However, the waiters were clearly not trained very well and not attentive at all. You would definitely expect more from a restaurant in a hotel like the Grand Windsor. Examples: one glass of champagne was included in the menu and when my husband asked for an extra glass the waiter didn’t think of asking me as well. They started serving the menu without asking what kind of wines we would be interested in which meant we got the food but had to sit and wait 10 min for the wine. Next course again the food was brought in and we waited another 5-10 min for my husband to get the wine - AFTER he went to the waiter and reminded her that she hadn’t served the matching wine. Next course the wine came first but then again we had to wait for it. This was really unsatisfying. Also we had to ask for cutlery after the second course as the waiter forgot she had taken it out with the plates! Next morning we had to wait 10 min to get a table for breakfast - even though tables were available. We had to ask for spoons, butter, glasses...... Simply not attention on filling up. I had to go and find a waiter to order coffee and eggs. Coffee came after 15 min - we never received the eggs as we left after having waited 35 min and reminded 2 waiters. We had a plane to catch and needed to check out. So no breakfast that morning. The first morning the waiter was very attentive and recommended the egg dish - unfortunately he wasn’t there New Year’s Eve and in the morning he was behind the bar preparing coffee. We live in Asia and are used to not very attentive waiters but this experience was one of the worst ever. Kind regards, Anja & Nicolai Jensen

It took 10 minutes for any sort of service after we’d been sat down and 45 mins to receive the ‘champagne on arrival’ for Xmas day champagne breakfast. This was only as we asked for it. Food selection on the whole was good and courses arrived slowly which was perfect for a leisurely Xmas breakfast. My pet hate is to sit with dirty plates for 15 mins after I’ve finished eating. French toast was very dry and the duck glaze difficult to spot so this dish was also dry. Had a long chat with the maitrde when we left and then he didn’t recognise us at all when we arrived for Christmas dinner that evening, amateurish. Atmosphere was good as busy but not noisy. On the whole, fairly average.

Way too overpriced for the food served! Not very warm and pleasant atmosphere pretty dark with no windows or view outside.
We didn’t get our waiters name but he was very professional, polite and friendly and worked very hard. He was ok top of everything from knowing about my dietary requirements due to being pregnant, to clearing our plates and topping up our water. I was actually going to email the hotel to give our very positive feedback about him as well as the amazing food!
