About Cochrane Inn
A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the Cochrane Inn. Located in the village of Gatehead, on the outskirts of Kilmarnock, this traditional country inn and family restaurant, has a distinctly contemporary, yet cosy ambience. Our cuisine has modern twist reflected in it’s menu and features fresh local produce supplied daily.
The perfect placefor a relaxing family meal or to stop off when traveling through Ayrshire, whether you're dining in our restaurant for a meal, or relaxing at our bar for a drink.
You must be kidding me on !!!
Not the place it used to be and won’t be back. Shame as it used to b a lovely pub
We were out for a quiet Sunday lunch, Friendly staff, efficient service and great tasting food. We'll be back.
Consistently good food and courteous service
Four of us had dinner from the two course menu for £13.95. Great selection, all starters and mains were decent portions, very tasty and well presented. Excellent value for money and good service. Nice surroundings, too. We will book again soon.
Nothing to add
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice food. Good deal. Will be back.
Excellent service by friendly helpful staff. Very good choice on standard and gluten free menus. No hesitation in recommending this Inn.
First class service and food; however tables way too close together, very uncomoftable and felt had to keep conversation to a minimum as everyone else was listening...
Lovely place with great food, fab selection and good service - will definitely be back
Staff were brilliant. Without asking, they served the dessert decorated with happy birthday to my partner s daughter, who had turned 21. Great service from the waiting staff. The food was also excellent
Nice friendly relaxed place to eat a tasty and substantial meal. Will be back.
Found 1 member of staff to be very loud barking orders at younger staff after meal we sat at bar the same member of staff flung open toilet doors and proceeded to clean them very noisy not what you want to see or smell after your meal Food was fine but drinks where very expensive
Disappointing. My wife’s cheesy chicken sauce had a burnt taste, and the ground beef in the chilli did was either poor quality or not particularly fresh. Despite the restaurant being quiet, and appreciating that guests don’t like to feel rushed, wait of nearly 35 minutes after finishing the main course before being offered dessert was way too long!
Lovely setting and cosy feeling. Will definitely be back
Delicious food, great service and lovely, cosy venue
Delicious meal, very good value. Friendly staff.
Had my partner's birthday meal here last night. Loved it, staff were fantastic food was great. Really big portions though, so couldn't finish it.
As always we were delighted with the quality of the food. Would love it if you changed to proper chunky chips
Was at the cochrane on Thursday night with my family for dinner food and service excellent valentines specials menu options we're excellent had the duck for main an was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back soon.
Be good if there was any guidance on the menu re gluten free
I did not enjoy the veggie curry with noodles. The food was not as hot as it should have been, as were the look- warm chips which appeared to be re-heated. The curry consisted mainly of a few bits of potato & red peppers with a sparing offering of very small pieces of mushroom, barely making any impact on the dish.
Lovely meal and lovely service
Great service and food as always, however many restaurants are now incorporating allergen menus for people such as myself who are dairy intolerant, and it would be great to see the Cochrane Inn adopting this. The regular menu is very restricting for me as many dishes contain milk, butter and cheese.
