About Coal Grill and Bar Telford
Delicious fresh food full of flavour and a rainbow of cocktails all served in a welcoming, relaxed and friendly environment
Gluten free menu is fabulous. Starter ,main & pudding felt same as everyone else eating. .
Fantastic service from Celina.
Fast service, polite & pleasant waiter
We visited this restaurant last weekend - never been to a Coal Bar and Grill before and the menu excited us both. We got seated rather tucked away and sometimes felt the staff had forgotten us although there really wasn't enough staff actually there. It took a while to be served, a while to get each course of food and to try and get anyones attention was practially impossible. The food itself was lovely, well worth its money in that respect. The portion sizes were good but the brioche burger on the bun would have been better toasted! The restaurant itself was cold, fine when we entered but after 10 minutes I literally put my jacket back on. The other annoying part was I wasn't aware a service charge was automatically added - when there were only 2 of us!!! And...it said right at the bottom of the receipt which I only noticed when entering the VAT number for my accounts - this was not mentioned or clear enough and should be an option not you have to opt out - more importantly, it really wasn't worth it the service we received. I wouldn't rush back which is a shame as we both had high hopes for this restaurant.
All the staff were very attentive throughout the evening
Very nice for casual dining. Food was nice and the menu has a good selection available for all tastes.
Waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't seem to know much. I asked for my burger to be plain but when it came it wasn't plain and they forgot a portion of chips that we ordered. Apart from that it was nice, very nice cocktails.
Had a really lovely evening and the food was fantastic. Then with 2 for 1 on cocktails, that just made the experience even better. We will be back!
Great food. Service wasn't great.
This was our first visit and i was really dissapointed. The food is expensive for what was given. I bought my mother and husband for her birthday. She had the chicken wrap from the lunch menu which she was happy with and was good value. I had the halloumi burger ( I'm veggie) which was double the price of the lunch menu and it was no where near worth double price with very small amount of cheese. My husband had the combi meal at £20 . The steak was tough and the meal was poor for the price. I'd say basic at least. If I was reecommding your restaurant I would only eat of the lunch menu. The rest is well over priced. Very dissapointed that a birthday meal for 4 came to over £65 and was basic to say the least. And be prepared to wait for drinks. I ordered than sat and saw my drink at the bar for what seemed an age. I went to collect it myself !!!
Lovely food and very attentive service.
Food was good quality and service and staff very helpful
The staff were fabulous, very friendly, lovely place, amazing food. Will definitely be coming back and will 100% be recommending to friends and family.
Food brilliant, but worst cocktails I have ever tasted, very watered down
It was early and there weren't many people in.
We have eaten there before and enjoyed it but very disappointed this visit. The staff were great and very attentive but that's not difficult when only three tables had anyone sat at them. The food was so disappointing . Ordered nachos and flat breads for starters. The flat bread was doughy and under cooked. Ordered full rack of ribs as a main and they were so overcooked and dry that parts were crunchy with just a brush of sauce down the centre. Not sure if I'll be returning any time soon.
We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday and the choice of venue was hers. I didn't get the meal I ordered the sauce of which was so drippy it constantly dripped in to my lap ,my wife's chicken schnitzel was so chewy it was difficult to eat ,it should have been a nice end to her day was spoilt. The way the service charge was added to the bill in advance was not to my taste at all I frequently give a tip of my choice I don't expect to be told how much to give ,we will be not returnung
I reserved a table and informed via the booking form that it was my birthday. The member of staff greeting us wasn't friendly at all. We had to ask to order desserts and for the bill. Food was lovely, staff not so.
we actually arrived later than our booking but didn't have to wait long for another table to be made up...just long enough to buy a cocktail! A wonderful evening, with great staff/customer service.
The waiter (may have been manager as wore suit trousers and a shirt). Very rude. When we asked questions regarding the menu he was was rude in replying to us. Asked about drinks when ordering and again rude. Added on chilli cheese fries, which didn't come, when asked about these he replied "i know" and walked off, he came back with his pad of paper and said you didn't order any showing us the order, we replied we did as when you wrote it down you repeated "chilli cheese fries". He wasn't happy we responded, he did go and get some put can tell rushed and compared to another persons they were rubbish. The food was good, but the man who serviced us was very rude and abrupt, it appears as if he doesn't like his job and would say has no people skills. We don't come out for food to be spoken to like rubbish.
I really enjoy the Coal Grill and Bar in Telford but on this visit I only realised once I got home that I had paid the optional service charge without being asked. I must have paid it on my last visit as well without being asked. If I was asked I would decline as we are not in the USA and we have a minimum wage so staff don't live on their tips. I would like to be asked if I want to pay an 'optional' service charge in the future!
Amazing service, friendly staff and delicious food.
Really enjoyable meal, great food, fast, attentive service and a really enjoyable night.
Our starters took over an hour to arrive, despite providing a pre-order, even though we were told a pre-order wasn't necessary. No one came to apologise to us for the wait, or explain why we were having to wait. Some of the special requirements on our pre-order were not provided, sauces, substitutes etc but the food was tasty and once it arrived, the courses were all provided in a timely fashion. Would probably be better in a smaller group, wouldn't recommend for a large party.
