About Coal Grill and Bar - Gloucester Quays
We are set in the stunning Pillar and Lucy Warehouse in Glocester Quays. We have heaps of atmosphere, with exposed brickwork, low ceilings, timber beams and a waterside view. Sit back and enjoy the
south facing terrace or have a drink in our cosy cocktail bar.
The restaurant is directly opposite the cinema and adjacent to the factory outlet centre.
Waited 20 minutes just for a jug of water, had to ask twice for a drink, asked the starters to come with the mains however the starters came out bar one persons, as they were too busy and we had to wait for our mains another 20 minutes, food came out bar one persons and had to wait 15 minutes till that main came out in which it was stone cold, gave us discounts however still unacceptable as was for a birthday meal pre booked
Lovely food, a little bit of a wait for the food to come out, which was a shame as we were supposed to be on our lunch hour, but wasn't overly a problem. Looking forward to visiting again
Waiter came to table asked if we were ready to order food didn’t ask us if we wanted drinks had to say can we order drinks first. Had sizzling chicken fajitas they were not sizzling only two small pieces of chicken not enough for the wraps & not very hot very disappointing
It wasn’t busy and yet the service was quite slow. One of the waiting staff didn’t make any effort to make you feel welcome and then to add on a 10% service charge, for what? I certainly won’t be returning to Coal in Gloucester Quays.
Great service Good Food Defiantly would go again
Really friendly and professional staff
Food was great, quite expensive though
Hi, When we 1st arrived we stood and waited to be seated for 5/10 minuets even though there were 6 member of staff congregated at the bar area doing nothing, we had to go up and ask about our booking. We added additional notes for a high chair to be put in place, this was not there when we arrived and the manager was surprised to see we required one (even though it was on the booking notes) Sorry to say but the service was slow, it took ages for our starters and then mains to come out. My starter was very disappointing for the price we paid (grilled halloumi and peppers) 2 slices of peppers and 1 slice of halloumi was not good. When I ordered my main I was then told after that there was no Beef Brisket so then I had to rush to choose something else (surly we should have been told this when seated and menus passed out?) We ordered the child's menu for my nephew, the ice cream didn't even arrive so we paid the bill and left. The waiter was not really interested in giving a good service. Sorry to say but we wont be returning to this branch of coal. Very disappointed. : (
Been a few times always happy with food and service
45 minutes from ordering for our meals to arrive, without apology meant our experience was let down by poor service.
Best Steak I have had in a long time. Lovely Staff. Will call again for sure
We came for breakfast on mother’s day and were given a table although we were 30 mins early. Service was quick and food was lovely, could have been hotter
Our lunchtime party was very pleased with both the food and the service. The menus were good with a variety of choice and reasonably priced. It would have been a better experience with a lower level of music (is it possible for this to happen in one particular area?) My other point was that on line I was invited to download a voucher code which I found had no value and no pupose other than a waste of time and ink. These ponts aside we enjoyed our visit and have booked to return.
Very good experience.
Was a lovely surprise that I received a candle in my pudding as it was my birthday, yet we had not mentioned that in the booking or arrival. Was such a lovely touch for a lovely meal and was something I found very thoughtful.
Very busy, felt like we were being rushed, staff uninterested and unfriendly. Overall not a great experience and I won't be returning.
The location was lovely, overlooking the water. The food was delicious and we had 40% off mains, so amazing value for money. Great service too. Will definitely come again.
Service was ok, food average, trying to get the bill took forever once you ask for the bill you expect someone to come back and take your money not keep you waiting for 20 mins to pay
Difficult to rate as didnt go. Our reservation was cancelled with no reason assigned. Had an email confirmation saying it was reserved then another day later cancelling it.
Amazing cocktails.& the right price
Of the 4 adults in our party two of the meals were very good & one was average. One of the guests said it was the best meal they had eaten in a long time. Mine however was awful. On the menu it was described as halloumi burger. In fact I had to really search to find the miniscule amount of halloumi. On the other hand the two very large chunks of peppers were overwhelming. Not at all like the halloumi burger that I had in Coal at Cabot Circus. That was excellent & what prompted us to try Coal in the Docks.
Lovely night, great service, excellent food
The service was well below average, we had to wait about 10 minutes before even ordering a drink. Then once we had finished our meal the waitress disappeared and we had to call another for our bill. All the waitresses seemed to be more interested in chatting to each other rather than looking after the clients. For the first time ever i did not leave a tip, i even refused to pay the preset discretionary service charge. This does not please me in the slightest and i do not desire any form of compensation, just wish our experience had been better.
