About Coal Grill and Bar - Gloucester Quays
We are set in the stunning Pillar and Lucy Warehouse in Glocester Quays. We have heaps of atmosphere, with exposed brickwork, low ceilings, timber beams and a waterside view. Sit back and enjoy the
south facing terrace or have a drink in our cosy cocktail bar.
The restaurant is directly opposite the cinema and adjacent to the factory outlet centre.
We had a lovely time
Food overpriced for the amount you get although it was very nice, you don't get much with the steak. It is still a chain restaurant, nothing too special very average
Amazing food and fantastic friendly service, will 100% be back!
Service was superb and food came out hot and quickly, especially as it was a busy Saturday night. The leather and metal chairs however caused my legs to ache badly and we were sat opposite a party of 30 which had 0 noise control and were shouting at each other for the whole time we were there.
Lovely food and a great night. Bit of a shock at the 20% added to bill.
Lovely food, very reasonable price! Great atmosphere too.
Excellent service from waiter nothing was to much trouble. Food was good only thing that would say is that the chips aren’t anything special! What I didn’t like was on the bill is an optional service charge- it is very awkward when the server asks which one you want to pay and you say without it. I did without it as I don’t like being told what I should tip.
Very poor service from a young lady who spoke poor English and wasn’t friendly or particularly attentive throughout. Other staff sitting on tables inside using mobile phones. My steak was over cooked and when I finally managed to attract the waitresses attention to advise her of this she admitted that she thought I’d said “well done” when I’d actually asked for medium rare. She did offer to replace my meal but as it’d taken so long to make her aware I’d eaten most of my food so declined her offer. I did ask her if she’d be happy to remove my meal from the bill which she did. This was my first experience at Coal and I was very disappointed given the cost of the food. It represented bad value for money and poor service. Kind regards Chris Hulls.
The salmon I ordered was a tiny portion, plain and didn’t come with the extra it was meant too. My partners ribs were dry, the cocktails we ordered were small and the whole meal was massively overpriced. Not happy.
Great meal and cocktails as always, a favourite place to take our out of town friends always enjoyable 😄
Everything was fine, little slow in offering drinks after arrival. Did not like the way you put tips on receipt as your waitress was about to charge me the big bold amount, which I’m sure many people don’t realise is not the total! Food fine, nothing special and over priced but ok.
Service was very slow & there was only 4 tables of people. Salad was awful, tasted really bitter & I've never seen a greek salad quite like it. Service charge of over £13 (more than 10% of the bill) was added the bill, there was only 5 of us & I object to being told how much to tip. Will not be returning there are nicer eateries at the quays most of which have deals. They have better food, better service & a nicer atmosphere
Wonderful service and wonderful food.
Meals reasonably priced , drinks ( especially cider ) very over priced. Nice food overall but table a bit squashed in amongst large groups so couldn’t really talk to friends . Would return but not on a Saturday eve
Service was poor and didn’t realise there was a service charge applied automatically until after we had paid! The food was way over priced for the quality and quantity! Had grilled halloumi starter for £7.. could barely see it there was so little of it hidden by mass amounts of salad leaves and a pepper! Main course my partner had the philly steak sandwich.. the steak was poor quality and thin and only filled half the ciabatta it was in the rest was just salad and he didn’t get the second side he was meant to with the meal. Poor all round!
My qifes food not great dont try the veggie lasagna it's not good. Staff great and lovely place
Lovely food. Friendly waitresses. Good service. The food did take a while to come out.
The food and service was lovely. I’d been here once before and had not such a great time but came last night and could not have complimented it enough. I really enjoyed it and the price wasn’t bad either for what you get.
Although a little on the pricy side for drinks we all enjoyed the food very much the service was attentive and friendly
Our first visit. Service was quick and good. Food was delicious. We will definitely return.
Great place to go for pre cinema food and drink
We were rushed into ordering drinks even though the place was not particularly busy. I was then told my favourite cocktail (long island) is no longer available even though it is still advertised on the online menu. I asked if the barman could make it anyway and was told no. I ordered an alternative which was very poor value for money. A fine fizz. Before drinks had even been served (1 was forgotten so waiter had to go back afain)we were being asked to place our food order which felt very pushy and rushed. We decided not to stay so asked for the bill for the drinks. It never arrived so I chased this up at the bar, paid and left. Very disappointing birthday experience.
Everything was amazing great staff great service and ambiance amazing salmon best i have ever had only thing is the prices of drinks are abit over board besides that everything was great
Good night until the optional service charges were just added onto my bill without asking!
