About Verde at Church Road
Church Road Winery offer exciting a la carte lunches at the Cellar Door and Restaurant.
With an emphasis on Hawke’s Bay sourced artisan products, the menu reflects Church Road’s winemaking philosophy by combining traditional influences with innovative flair. Chris Scott, Church Road Regional Winemaker and Head Chef Grant McHenry have used their expertise and passion to wine match the dishes on our menu, providing the complete wine and food experience. We offer an extensive a la carte menu along with delicious platter and cheeseboard options.
After our main were not offered an opportunity to have another drink or dessert
Disappointing beginning - waitress in training couldn’t even put her “in training” badge on the right way. Despite being on the menu there was no juice of any kind available - if not available, don’t advertise it. It was nice of the maître d to move us to a quieter table. Not sure $25 for 3 small scallops was value for money. Thought we may have been able to sit outside but this was not offered.
Wonderful food. Disappointing not to be able to have spirits as not everyone likes wine but enjoys good food. Chairs are metal, cold and uncomfortable a cushion or blanket for inside dinning is nice coz its very cool🥶 Everyone was cold at our table male & female! Age range 60-86! Service was excellent. Think the coconut milk was rapeseed based as tasted aweful and had reation to it all afternoon. Becareful when offering dairy free that it is not substituted with Rapeseed? It is local to us and the venue and gardens looked outstanding.
Wonderful food, great staff! Will be back with visiting friends!
We’ve eaten quite a few meals at Church Road over the last couple of years and usually are very impressed by a) the quality of the options on the menu and b) the flavours of the dishes we receive. This visit was quite disappointing compared to previous ones - the options were a lot less adventurous and exciting than usual
I really love church road but was highly disappointed with the food today. The Yorkshire pudding was extremely small, only bite sized. Being English I was looking forward to this dish but was quite upset when I saw what had been constructed. The carrots were rock hard and both myself and my partner left these. There was only one potato and very little veg served to compliment the dish, leaving me with a big chunk of meat to eat on it's own. I had high expectations for this meal, given the price of $39, I came away feeling slightly ripped off. I love Church Road as a winery, but unfortunately the restaurant didn't match or live up to my expectations.
We had a fabulous day sitting in the sun with our bean bags and gorgeous wine! The only thing that would make it even better is outdoor tabs but didn’t change the great team looking out for us. Thank you!
Could definitely recommend. Great staff and the food left us wishing we had more time for a return visit.
We were so looking forward to our lunch here but had such a disappointing experience. After a lengthy delay of waiting for our meals and needing to follow up on our food, we received 3 of our 7 meals (one starter and two mains). It was10-15 minutes later when the next two meals arrived and much later when we received the two children's meals. So essentially there were three shifts of us watching each other eat and no apology by the waitress as these later dishes were served up. We needed to chase up on the basics like knives and forks and a drink order was missed. No one followed up on how the food was during or after our meals - there were problems with cold potato and sauce on the duck - but we just ate it given the experience so far. We had planned to stay for desert but chose to leave. The head waitress did apologise during the wait and one meal was deducted from our bill but overall the experience was one quite unlike I've ever experienced at a cafe or restaurant, let alone would expect from somewhere with the reputation of CRW.
Fabulous service and food, enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting first before a delicious lunch.Friendly, knowlegeable and attentive staff.
Wow atmosphere. Elegant food and top service
Such a beautiful setting, loved the seating by the wine barrels, food, amazing, wine...perfect. Overall a great experience. The lavender was lovely, restful surroundings.

We booked a table. We were well looked after. The platter and wines we ordered were delicious. Would have no hesitation in recommending this winery. And would visit again when we come to the Hawkes Bay.
Shared platter was delicious and of course the wine was excellent, but disappointed that outside seating wasn’t available and that wasn’t made clear when booking as we would have gone somewhere else if we had known.
Always a great dining experience when coming to the Bay. Fresh fish, scallops and wine to match. Yum!
Great team, We were well looked after and had a very enjoyable lunch . We will certainly be back.
tuna entee was fab
Food was delicious as always
Deb greeted us at the beginning and looked after the table very well. Food was amazing. Perfect Service!
The Tempranillo I had tasted earlier was a great accompaniment to the superb sharing platter. All staff were excellent: friendly and professional. The venue is delightful. This was one of the highlights of our NZ trip.
