For formal yet relaxed evening dining, Culpeper’s award-winning restaurant near Maidstone offers a menu of seasonal modern British dishes. To accompany your meal, delve into the wine list – our experienced team will be happy to guide you through our selection, including our rare whiskies and brandies.
The elegant Marble Lounge offers an idyllic setting for traditional Afternoon Tea – with plenty of contemporary touches – and in the summer enjoy a light bite out on the terraces where you’ll feel every bit at home.
My wife will be turning 40 in a couple of weeks and I had booked afternoon tea to mark the day. However due to the second lockdown restrictions, I had to bring this forward. We had a great time exemplified by friendly and professional staff making the day memorable. My wife and I are looking forward to returning and spending a weekend at the hotel.
Excellent evening through out, great attention to COVID safe, wonderful atmosphere and of course excellent food and service. well done it surpassed our expectations, which were high! thank you.
Difficult to review atmosphere for a take away but loved the food, communications and the thrill of picking up pizzas at Chilston!
absolutely lovely setting alongside fabulous food and service...we shall definitely return..
We had a very enjoyable evening. Very friendly and helpful staff
the service was very good, covid protocols adhered to. seating was comfortable, if a little low for the table. the food was good , fresh and the scones warm. clotted cream did not have the unique cream taste, in fact it had very little taste at all. my pot of tea was only luke warm but my second pot was nice and hot.overall i would go back again because the ambience was very good and the service fine. Certainly not fine dining but for the price it was adequate.
Have been to you for afternoon tea a few times now, you never disappoint. Covid measures good too, which were explained on arrival.
Lovely setting and the food was really nice. Staff friendly and ever so helpful. We will be come back when we can.
We were made to feel very welcome with nothing too much trouble.
We love coming back to Chilston, food was great, staff were brilliant even during uncertain times of a pandemic. Cannot wait to visit again after lockdown 2.0!
Staff were excellent at social distancing and providing a memorable experience under current climate. Excellent staff and hotel.
Both had scallop stater was lovely and couldn’t fault. One had lobster, prawn and squid main, was very nice but wasn’t that much seafood considering cost. One had beef Wellington which was stunning, again couldn’t fault. Both had tart tatin for desert, sadly the caramel had been slightly overcooked resulting in a burnt taste. Sadly couldn’t finish it because of this which was such a shame! The score of 4 for the atmosphere isn’t a fault of the hotel but with covid it’s harder to have the same relaxed feeling and mix/chat with other people but the restaurant did really well with the atmosphere and service. Incredible cocktails too, had several flavours/mixes and all were delicious.
Lovely afternoon tea, beautiful setting. We will be back!
Went with a friend and had a lovely time and really enjoyed their afternoon tea. Would recommend as a special treat or occasion.
We had a fabulous time celebrating our wedding with a cream tea with our close family. It was extra special being given a congratulations board with chocolates and strawberries. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Lovely afternoon tea in the lounge
We attended on Saturday evening and the food was exceptional (as always). We thoroughly enjoy visiting Chilston as the food is amazing, the venue is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. My husband had the goats cheese soufflé, followed by the lamb shank and a coffee and petit fours for dessert. I had the steak tartare, followed by the duck breast and followed by the black forest gateau. I have to say that everything was absolutely incredible but my favourite was the Black Forest gateau - I’ve never tried anything like it in my life, it was full of flavour and just fantastic. The venue was quieter than normal, given the current circumstances - I’m not surprised. However, I must say that the measures they’ve put in place to minimise the risk of COVID are fantastic, they check your temperature open arrival, there are clearly signposted one way systems and there are hand sanitising stations everywhere.
Service is absolutely spot on
Great place to go for afternoon tea amazing food and helpful staff and the grounds are beautiful too.
Simply wonderful in this mad world of covid it is wonderful to relax and enjoy something that seems normal I have shot here on many occasion as a photographer, matt james photography and it was great to be on the other side for once
We were well looked after from start to finish... a lovely Sunday lunch.
I have been to Chilston Park on a number occasions for different events. The last time was for Afternoon Tea. I cannot fault the service and value for money and the majority of the food was of the usual high standard. However, unfortunately there was a piece of bone in one of the chicken sandwiches. Luckily it didn't cause any damage but not what we have come to expect from Chilston Park.
Food was great (the best scones we've ever had!) and the waiting staff were very attentive. We had a lovely afternoon tea and a great experience. We'll definitely be returning.
Such a lovely atmosphere dining here, service was flawless and that was down to Charlotte and Zac looking after us. The only disappointment was I had the sea bass for £17, I only had one tiny fillet I would have liked two pieces.
