Had a booking for family festival lunch obviously it had to be cancelled due to restrictios however the whole process and refund was delt with very efficiently by events team, I will definitely be booking with the Chevin again in the future. Thank you Merry Christmas
The whole experience wasnt the best. First they was saying check in was a 3pm but my spa package was from 1pm till 4pm. So i would have to leave my things in the car while i went to the spa and then check in after my spa and treatment (Unless i wanted to pay a early check in fee) which i did. I might be been abit picky but there was no toilet roll in the loo, then i paid nearly £5 for a bottle of bud, which is way too much. My other half said the water in the bath was luke warm also. When we went for our spa and treatment you have to go outside through a fire exit ,over some muddy un-even ground to get to it, so it was a bit inconvenient, the the spa itself was good. Into the evening meal- service was very slow which was strage as there didnt seem to be as many people at the hotel due to covid but still plenty of staff. I wanted steak but was told that it wasnt included in my package unless i wanted to pay extra £12.50 ( which i was tempted to do as it was rib-eye), i was then told they didnt have the rib-eye and only had sirloin, which they was asking the same price for (£12 50) so i passed on that!. It was very Small portions, i got 1 meatball, 5 chips and 4 small pork cutlets (as im the size of a £2 coin). Desert was the same, very small, 2 mouth fulls and it was gone, the meals were very nice but very small. Nobody came over to check on us, i waited nearly 25 mins from finishing my main to somebody coming to clear and ask about deserts. We was in the restaurant for 1.5 hours and my food took 6 minutes to eat, that's how slow it was. The room had a small electric heating unit which i didnt feel comfortable leaving on all night, so when we woke up in the middle of the night the room was cold as there was no other heating in the room. Finally the breakfast, there was load of extras to pick from ie.. yogurts, pastrys, juice, toast, fruit. which was nice, but the thing let it down was the main cooked breakfast, again small portion, i had 1 sausages that looked like Prince Charles shrivelled up old finger that had been keeping warm in the oven all night, a spoon full of beans, 1 egg and 2 rashers of bacon with more fat on them then pavarotti. Overall not the best for what we paid. Probably wouldn't come back im afraid.
The stay was nice during these times. The cabin number 45 was very drab run down. The evening food was nice the breakfast was better presented however was only Luke warm.
The place was very cosy and the room we had was very spacious. However the bathroom was dated and the “massage pack” left in our room was just facial stuff not very romantic.
Great service from start to finish After reading some reviews I was apprehensive My only moan is not enough light in our room but again each to their own
Upon arrival check in was quick and easy unfortunately our room was right next door to the stairs to what we can only assume was the hotel's office we had alot of noise in our room throughout the day of people going up and down stairs and moving around above us which is disappointing as we paid extra for an upgraded room. Breakfast was good with a decent selection to choose from. Our evening meals were unfortunately not as good. Food took a while to come out and was cold upon arrival.
Me and my daughter had such a lovely time. The staff were so friendly and helpful, Nicky the receptionist was lovely, the dining room staff and bar staff so friendly and efficient, the treatment staff absolutely brilliant and rooms cosy. Me and my partner booked the woodland escape package. The room and spa facilities were fantastic, despite being a little disappointed that the outdoor hot tub was out of order. The massage therapist was brilliant and the breakfast was lovely, the evening meal was a tad small on the portion size and the options just weren’t really to my taste but overall a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!
So, I wasn't going to write a review or email my complaint but after stewing on the terrible experience I had I feel I have no other choice. We arrived on Saturday the 31st to check in to our room, have afternoon tea then return to the restaurant later for our prep-paid evening meal. We were shown our seats for the afternoon tea and were presented with what I can only assume was halloween cakes from asda and two stale scones. My partner doesn't like complaining so I let this slide. We made our way to our room (12) and were greeted with - Filthy floor with mud and leaves all over - No working heating but an Oil Heater from the 90's. - Stains all over the curtains - Dust and Cobwebs EVERYWHERE - Kettle Covered in Dust - Shower not fit for anyone. It was either scolding hot or trickled out like a broken tap. - A bath which had cobwebs, woodlice and what can only be described as dried Snot all over the side of it. - An ironing board covered in crumbs and stains as well as a broken iron. I thought, never mind that we're away for our anniversary so a good meal will make it all better. We were sat in the restaurant and greeted with 'We have no steak, so its off the menu'. Fantastic. Terrible end to a terrible day, but we had the 'relaxing' massage booked in the morning. We were booked for 10am and arrived promptly. We were greeted kindly and sent to our seperate massage room which I found bizzare as I am sure I had booked a couples massage. What proceeded was the worst and least relaxing massage I have ever had. For the 'masseuse' to cough for the majority of the treatment then half way through decide it was a good idea to begin discussing... - The Corona Virus - How it takes her 20 minutes to get to work, 30 on a bad day - Her and her nan had seen someone in Asda Shipley with no mask - She had paid deposit for a tattoo but wouldn't be able to get it - She's been back at work two weeks but is due to be furloughed I was absolutley appalled that she thought it necessary to tell me all this whilst giving the WORST massage i have ever recieved. Zero aftercare and she walked out and said we were done. Now I'm sure you can see why I am absolutely furious about this. I wouldn't have been paid to have that treatment let alone pay for it myself. Close to £300 for this shambles. I will be forwarding this message to the reception and manager and I expect a reply.
My husband & I stayed here Friday 30th October. My opinions are mine based on our stay & no one has influenced me in any way. From the initial arrival, to the checkout, everything went without a hitch. Bearing on mind that restrictions were still in place because of Covid, the hotel did everything in their power to keep us safe - wearing of masks throughout the hotel unless you were in your room handgel, booking of meals so there wasn't too many guests in one place at the same time. Reminder guidelines posted about the hotel. All the staff were very friendly, professional & attentive in everything they did. Nothing was too much trouble.The hotel was located in beautiful surroundings with its own lake. Our room was lovely & cosy. The meals were delicious & the spa facilities were really good. My only critism (& it is only minor) the food (hence only 4/5 stars) wasn't very hot both the Friday evening meal & the Saturday morning breakfast. I did mention this to staff who were so apologetic & said that this would be passed on to the chef. The meals themselves were simply delicious. The other thing was that the lighting in the rooms, although very cosy looking was not ideal for reading & applying make up. Us women tend to notice things like that...this may have been different in the summer months due to the natural lighter, sunnier days, but not on dark, cold days....apart from these 2 little critism's, we will definitely be returning & would definitely recommend. Well done to all staff ☺️
Really enjoyed our stay, lovely scenery, restaurant is lovely and the food was very good! ... the spa facilities are good and really liked how the pool was with it all. Enjoyed our hot stone massage. Despite covid had a lovely time and feel it was really good value for money! ... Only bad point is we had no hot water in the morning so no showers! However, I told reception on checking out and she was very apologetic! I’m sure it would of been sorted had we noticed sooner!
£180 per night for outdated, shabby, under facilitated cabins Where do I start with this? We got here about 8:30pm and got swiftly checked in to our cabin. First thing I realised was the outdated decor and the uncleanliness of the room. During a pandemic where everywhere claims to 'deep clean' before having new guests, there was dust everywhere and little stickers that had not been picked up from the previous occupants. We could not find a thermostat so it was really hot which made sleeping uncomfortable. When we asked the next day someone came to help it turned out the thermostat was hidden behind the wardrobe which we had to pull out to change the temperature. The room was advertised as having Wifi, but as we were the cabin furthest away from the reception, it didnt. There's also no phone signal, so you can't plan the next day from your cabin, not that we particularly wanted to stay in there. Bed time came, and we had the gobbiest couple next door. They weren't shouting but the panels between each cabin must have been paper thin. I had to go around at 2am and ask them to be quiet. Having finally got back to sleep on the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever been on, it was time to get up and get to breakfast. We'd been asked what time we'd be arriving for breakfast when we checked in, and made it to the restaurant at 9am as arranged. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, and it was a further 20mins before we got toast and coffee. I felt sorry for the staff, but then again the waitresses attitude was off. She snapped at me when I asked if theyd got orange juice saying 'I havent got to that bit yet'. When breakfast came, it was cold slices of burned toast, with a muffin and crossaint that were in plastic packaging. The cooked breakfast came and it was bearly edible. It was really cheap and nasty bacon and sausage. It made me question what took so long to sit us down and feed us, when the quality was that poor. Evening meal was awful. Again, I couldn't eat it. having had a bad experience at breakfast, I thought I'd play it safe with a burger. How can they get a burger wrong? Well, they did. I cut into the burger and the texture was all wrong and it didn't smell right. When a member of staff came over, they took it back to the chef and apologised and said theyd bring me a different one. They told me that the reason for the strange texture was 'because they're trialing a new halal supplier'. I'm not sure how they kill the cow could change the texture of the meat. 30 mins later, they came back with a burger EXACTLY the same. Shocking customer service from one of the staff, who also made us wait 40mins for drinks as well. there was a younger lady and chap who were mega apologetic and felt embarrassed to be there. I think the guys name was Lukas? A classy place this isnt. Other guests sat down next to us and started swearing and playing loud videos on her phone. Most wearing tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers. We feel robbed. For £180 per night, you expect a nice welcoming place, with decent food and staff. From here, we're going to Hazlewood Castle for 2 nights, which remarkably is the same price as this dump.
A brilliant experience for Sunday Lunch. The staff couldn't do enough for us and we felt very COVID safe!

Enjoyed the stay . Staff 5 class couldn't fault the service . Food delicious. Room could do with better TV signal and reception . Needs updating definitely. Also coat hooks no where to hang coats . Clean and comfortable smaller than expected.
This is the second time I've been to otley chevin and it won't be my last. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to help with anything. The treatments are a must. The food is delicious and if you get lucky you might get to see sid the squirrel. Thank you for a perfect stay
The hotel it’s self is lovely we have stayed on a few occasions however this was one of our worst experiences. It was our first time staying in the main hotel room number 19 which was disappointing , the bathrooms are desperate for upgrading , the shower was hardly even useable the pressure was so bad , the shower curtain was too high to use all in all very disappointing room. Our evening meal was fab however breakfast was absolutely shocking , our breakfast was served absolutely freezing cold and un edible so we had to send it back Service on this occasion was not up to standard as prior visits , Service in the bar was very slow we actually waiting around 15 mins stood at the bar to try and get a drink before getting served
We had a lovely stay and it was perfect for a nights get away! The only problem we had was that there was no hot water from the shower or the taps at all.
Great food and lovely, kind staff. The room was very dated though.

Dinner was great, better than expected on an inclusive deal. The beer selection is limited and unfortunately both the wines we selected were out of stock, something that took quite a long time to confirm (we'd eaten our main course in the time it took to get a drink). Other than that, service was spot on.
The afternoon tea was nice and fresh but I didn’t feel that it was particularly good value for money as the portion size was small In comparison to other venues. That said, I would still recommend the hotel Itself, which is beautiful inside and out.
There should be a separate children’s afternoon tea like we have had at different venues as one child ate the brownie and the other ate the brownie and cheese sandwich after asking for it without chutney. But we had to ask twice as they didn’t put it with the other sandwiches. The Parkin has a very strange taste so we were unable to eat it. The decorations were good. My children loved the trail and the staff were really nice.
I thought the afternoon tea would be slightly more aimed at children as it was advertised as Halloween, with a price for children, but it was 2 adult trays. We did ask to swap the sandwiches to plain cheese so the children could eat. This didn't seem a problem for the member of staff that served us.
Poor selection on menu,although what the six of us ordered was very good,we also appreciated that we are in the middle of a pandemic,so staff handled everything very well
