About Charlottes Kitchen
Charlotte’s Kitchen, established in 2015 brings a fresh approach to dining in the Bay of Islands – with the best location and killer view right at the end of the wharf in Paihia she can’t be missed if you are visiting these parts. Our locals love it!
Charlotte’s Kitchen features a range of exciting menu options - from our larger sharing plates which feature our signature free range pork knuckle (best to pre order one of these) to our smaller plates if you are not so hungry. Plus we have a pizza selection hand crafted with the same love that Charlotte felt for all her conquests! Be sure to try a cocktail when you visit – just fabulous!
And the inspiration for Charlotte’s Kitchen – Charlotte Badger a woman of interest, passion, strength, daring and just a little bit naughty and some AMAZING artwork by Lester Hall.
We look forward to seeing you at Charlotte’s Kitchen.
Waiter guy was very friendly, evening went well. My fish flavour was bit confused. We seated by the wharf, view was really nice. Very convenient location especially we are staying Russell.
We loved it here - food was amazing , staff friendly and efficient - fabulous views

Food was fabulous. We had the salmon pizza and squid ink pasta-absolutely amazing. Good variety of wine. And stunning location.
Stunning location. The sashimi and oyster entrees were sublime. The mains of market fish and squid ink pasta were also delicious.
Fantastic food and service. Best choice for our Christmas Eve dinner. Highly recommend.
Awesome place! Great food, great atmosphere and an even better view.
The food at Charlottes Kitchen is on point! Well presented a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy.
Incredible atmosphere, stunning setting overlooking the bay and the food and staff are unbeatable. This is not my first time at Charlotte's Kitchen, nor will it be my last. The Post-COVID (lunch) menu is broad and varied which suites all tastes and dietary requirements. The vibe is casual but elegant and chic. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their food. I could be happier with you experience and highly recommend visiting Charlotte's for lunch and/or dinner. You wont regret it.
The last time we visited was July 2020 to introduce friends from Wellington to the area and we raved about how awesome Charlotte's Kitchen was. That vist was disappointing...a few items on the menu were not available, certain beers and wines were not available either. Food was average. This time around we thought we'd give it another go as the last time could have been a one off. It was hubby's birthday and he wanted lunch there. So I booked a week prior, kids last day of school so collected them and drove from Whangarei to Paihia for our 2pm booking. We were seen straight away - it wasnt busy (1 table of 6 ladies, 1 couple, a lady on her own and another table of 4 people but they looked like they were ready to go when we arrived. So it was quiet. There were 2 serving staff on and 3 in the kitchen doing a lot of prep. We were given our menus and then waited 30 mins to be served. No water was provided when we were seated so we were aching for a cool drink. We sat next to the table with the 6 women which was cool as they were enjoying themselves and loading up on all sorts of cocktails. I think the waiting staff were more interested in serving the ladies their cocktails than bothering about us. As I said after 30 mins the lady(dark hair) who greeted us initially came and took our drinks order and we also ordered our food at the same time as we had perused the menu several times and we were hungry. About 10mins later the other waitress (blonde) came to us and asked if we were ready to order. Told her we'd done that and were waiting for our drinks. We were assured they are on their way. Anothet 10mins later the blonde arrives with our food and we still hadn't got our drinks. My husband was on the verge of exploding but held it in and asked that getting our drinks would be good. The food was great - cannot fault that but the service was awful. I have now been telling my friends dont go there it is absolutely terrible. When Charlotte's Kitchen first opened it was such a cool place - venue, atmosphere, staff and food were all fab. We have had many dinners/lunches there over the years and for my husband he has taken his staff their for Xmas lunch/dinner. Sadly this place has lost its sparkle and we will never be going back there again. Oh and to top off our experience the blonde waitress charged us the wrong table - it was the 6 ladies table - a $400+ bill! She tried desperately to make friendly conversation but by then I just wanted to go. I really would have thought that due to COVID the hospitality industry would be going out of their way to provide a decent customer experience but obviously not at Charlotte's kitchen. Dismal, appalling, terrible, hideous, bloody awful place. Never again.
Awesome experience. Great atmosphere and the food was unique and with great attention to detail -taste and look amazing. The oyster with pistachio? Salt bae moment!. Will definitely recommend to other people and will surely come back here next time we come to Paihia. 😊
Amazing food in a beautiful spot. Will definitely visit again on our next trip!
