About Chances R Restaurant
In the spring of 1976, the Chances R first opened its doors in what was then called the Shopper’s City mall on the corner of Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue under the direction of the Ottawa 67’s Hall of Fame coach Brian Kilrea and shortly thereafter, Niagara College Hotel and Restaurant graduate Nick Bouris.
The restaurant was embraced immediately by the local community and quickly established its reputation in providing a casual dining atmosphere. Our menu offered a wide range of choices, with a strong emphasis of using the freshest and finest ingredients … a principle which holds true to this very day!
By the turn of the millennium, Brian and Nick began drawing up the blueprints for a new restaurant at the then future College Square. In March 2003, the newly designed Chances R opened its doors with unbound enthusiasm and with new addition to the partnership team, Mike Bouris.
Since then, the restaurant has received outstanding accolades and has served millions of customers. The Consumers Choice Award for “Ottawa’s Best Family Restaurant” had been awarded to Chances R for seven consecutive years. We are also extremely proud to be nominated in 2009 for the “Service Excellence Award” by the Nepean Chamber of Commerce and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Ottawa Restaurant Association.
To continue to improve, grow and innovate while being mindful of what brought us here in the first place. We pledge to continue to provide the finest ingredients in our meals with the same friendly service that you have been accustomed to for the past three decades.
Thank you for choosing ‘R’ restaurant.

Our server was great. I wish we had her name so we could give a proper shout out to her.
My wife and I were surprised at the amount of food offered fir the US Thanksgiving special. The food was nicely plated and importantly served good and hot the way we like it. It was delicious and to cap it off, we each had the excellent Chocolate Mousse Cake (that should never come off the menu). With fine service, we had a most enjoyable meal in a Co-Vid-safe environment. Two 👍👍
Great meal. The pandemic precautions that were on place provided an elevated sense of safety. Thank you
My turkey dinner was great.
Been eating here since they opened. Always great food and great service.
It has space out the table very well
I have been a regular at Chances R for a number of years and have never been disappointed. Both the food and service is great!
Excellent meal as usual. Feel very safe. Always great service. Have been dining there over 30years
I’m a repeat customer and am always happy with my visits.
Service and Food was excellent. Never a bad experience at the R
The excellent food and service keep me returning for more.
The food at Chances R is always good but I keep coming back due t the excellent staff and atmosphere.
We eat here often as we like the booths are well distanced and like the plexiglass surrounding each booth.
We always enjoy the food and atmosphere at Chances R...the service is outstanding
A favourite for a good meal with friendly service
My favourite place to dine out. I’m never disappointed with my choices.
Excellent food, efficient and pleasant staff, adhered to covid precautions +++ . Felt very safe being there.
Excellent service, friendly staff
Very good food with lots of choices. Priced very reasonably.
Excellent as usual!
The chicken brochette was delicious. I would definitely order it again.
Excellent as always!
The patio is a wonderful spot. It definitely saved my sanity this summer. Wish it could stay open all winter!
