About Chances R Restaurant
In the spring of 1976, the Chances R first opened its doors in what was then called the Shopper’s City mall on the corner of Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue under the direction of the Ottawa 67’s Hall of Fame coach Brian Kilrea and shortly thereafter, Niagara College Hotel and Restaurant graduate Nick Bouris.
The restaurant was embraced immediately by the local community and quickly established its reputation in providing a casual dining atmosphere. Our menu offered a wide range of choices, with a strong emphasis of using the freshest and finest ingredients … a principle which holds true to this very day!
By the turn of the millennium, Brian and Nick began drawing up the blueprints for a new restaurant at the then future College Square. In March 2003, the newly designed Chances R opened its doors with unbound enthusiasm and with new addition to the partnership team, Mike Bouris.
Since then, the restaurant has received outstanding accolades and has served millions of customers. The Consumers Choice Award for “Ottawa’s Best Family Restaurant” had been awarded to Chances R for seven consecutive years. We are also extremely proud to be nominated in 2009 for the “Service Excellence Award” by the Nepean Chamber of Commerce and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Ottawa Restaurant Association.
To continue to improve, grow and innovate while being mindful of what brought us here in the first place. We pledge to continue to provide the finest ingredients in our meals with the same friendly service that you have been accustomed to for the past three decades.
Thank you for choosing ‘R’ restaurant.
Nick Bouris, Mike Bouris and Brian Kilrea
THere is NO restaurant in Ottawa which is better than Chances R!
The patio was very nice, as usual your entire service team is excellent in every way. The food was very good and served hot and all 15 were served together.
We all had a great time, the food was good and the service was great.
We were pleased with the restaunat's effort to set aside a table in a quietish area much appreciated!
One of our favourite places to dine.
I grew up in the 60's & 70's with this location being the restaurant on one end of the Shopper's City strip mall. It eventually became part of College Square but it was not until lately I chanced a visit there after all those years and I am so glad I finally did. It was a wonderful experience which I will repeat. We were four of us this time and we all enjoyed the various menu options, the food and the service. Personally, I appreciate that I was able to make a reservation for a Saturday evening for only four people; that goes a long way to making me a happy customer, and a return one! We will be back often.
Hi, My family and I attended for Mother's Day breakfast. It was nice and although the waitress was very, very nice and pleasant, she took a really long time to serve us. It's not a big deal but what really made the day disappointing is when I got home and actually looked at my bill, I noticed that I was charged for a side of baked beans and a gingerale. I paid for my mother's meal and neither of us had either of those two items. My brother had ordered a side of beans and two gingerales but both items were on his bill so I was charged extra for these items. I am not sure what can be done at this point. Thank you, Travis Wildeman
We were on the patio and it was great. I find it more quiet than in the restaurant. The food was amazing and out server was very attentive and kind. thank you for the great evening!
Good for family dinners.
Chances R is my "go to" restaurant - especially when I am heading to Centrepointe Theatre for an event. The service is outstanding, the menu is varied, and the food is good. I particularly like the fact that never once have I felt rushed to eat and leave, despite the fact that the restaurant is always busy. Well managed, and well presented. I recommend this restaurant regularly. Thank you!!!
We had a lovely lunch on Thursday May 10 with friends. The food was delicious, service was very courteous and prompt. It is very handy for us and we will be back again soon......only problem is the parking at lunch time. Must be lots of Algonquin students using that parking lot.
Excellent service. We were a large group who sat and talked before and after dinner and was never made to feel like we should leave. We were offered refreshments even after paying our bills.
I’ve been a patron of Chances ‘R since it was in the old location. Never been disappointed & always enjoy the staff & management.
More options without garlic and onions. My friend is allergic to these and found very few items on the menu she could eat
Have been a customer since the restaurant opened and you never disappoint. Staff are excellent and the food is always very good and very reasonably priced...
Thank you for your my birthday gift! It's always a pleasure coming to visit with you.
Excellent and friendly service. Food is always great!
Our experience was an excellent one. We all enjoyed the food and especially the service, very helful and attentive. Thank you Chances R!
Very noisy hard to hold conversation
Love ChancesR and brought two couples with us that do plan to return!!
I am there all the time even in the old mall and Judy the server is amazing. Thanks Nick and Brian
I received a refill on mine and other two people’s glasses of water after reminding the server three times.
Always excellent - always good - always great! Nor restaurant in Ottawa area surpasses Chances R!!!
We started hanging out at Chances R in 1978 while attending Algonquin. Now, we have like to have our class reunions there. 40 years of enjoyment.
