About Chance & Counters
Chance & Counters is Bristol’s first dedicated board gaming café, tucked at the bottom of Christmas Steps.
It’s a purpose-built space that board gamers of all ages and abilities can enjoy, from casual players to seasoned strategists.
Great night of games for a friend's birthday. Tris gave us excellent suggestions for games and help throughout the evening. Only slight disappointment was the tofu sandwich- it was raw tofu with a bit of paprika and smashed avocado. The avocado tasted good but the tofu was just texture- I was expecting it to have been marinaded and cooked for flavour. Anyway, the food didn't detract from the great evening and we will definitely be back!
Very friendly staff and a great unique place!
Amazing selection of games, always have the best time here.
Soft Drink options could be better, however food options are the main culprit (very limited for fussier eaters, could have a few simpler meal options)
Fantastic range of games, friendly staff and a great place to spend an afternoon.
A great fun night for family or friends. If you love playing a wide variety of games, this is the place to go.
Love coming here, such a great time every time I visit, thank you guys and gals!
A really great experience, helpful and friendly staff and an amazing choice of games to choose from.
Really helpful and friendly staff- particularly the guru’s. The food was good value for money but there was a vinaigrette type dressing on the chicken and avocado wrap which I didn’t think was advertised on the menu. I I felt it negatively effected the taste and it was overpowering.
Love the place but quite pricey food!
The boardgames we're really fun and the staff were insightful and helpful in pointing out games you might like. The food was really dissappointing. We ordered some small pots and a toast. The toastie arrives half an hour after the small pots and the filling was raw (halloumi and courgette) and when I sent it back kt took 40 minutes again to arrive and was still not cooked properly. The small pots we're also dissappointing as the chicken was really a salad and was cold and the chips were obviously re friend so tasted horrible. The falafel chicken we're also undercooked. I would not recommend eating there but the boardgames were fun.
Really enjoyed the place, staff are friendly and eager to help. Me and my group had an excellent time and plan to go again.
Great atmosphere and great fun. All the staff were really helpful!
The service was great, our server was very knowledgeable about all of the games! The food was okay but felt like an after thought, my halloumi sandwich was pretty underwhelming with a few vegetables out of a jar and a couple of bits of not very cooked halloumi in an over cooked ciabatta. So I think it could be improved - hence my value for money rating. The experience was really good but even better with better food.
Great atmosphere, great food and amazing staff!
Great service, fun evening!
Loved this place! Staff were wonderful and friendly, food was amazing, and it was just such a great place to hang out. Only wish we'd had longer than four hours, it just flew by! Will definitely be back :)
Great little place with friendly staff and huge selection of board games. Wouldn't eat here again as food was nothing special (don't get the hummus bowl!) Not sure about whether it was good value for money as they explain at the beginning it's £5 per head which goes towards the upkeep of the games, but 2 of 3 board games we played hadn't been looked after and had pieces missing. I mentioned the missing pieces to a member of staff and he didn't note down which game or anything so I feel like my comment went unnoticed.
We had a great time! The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. We asked for a couple of game recommendations and really enjoyed everything we played. Would definitely recommend and we will 100% be visiting again.
It was excellent. The place has been thought through completely. Great staff. Great offer and great games!
Very, very busy so we had to wait 15 min to sit on the table we had booked. Betrayal at House on the Hill has a torn manual that is missing pages. Other than that, great place
A brilliant place to play some board games. Wish there was a bit more for meals (as i like going for dinner after work) but its only a minor complaint as there is still lots of food there.
Can't wait to go again next time I'm in Bristol
Brought my parents for the first time, they were hugely impressed and already want to come back. Your staff were great and service was brilliant. Yet again, we’ve come away and a new board game too!
