About Catalina Bar and Restaurant
Boasting contemporary interiors and a relaxed atmosphere, Catalina serves a delicious buffet breakfast, with a modern Australian a la carte menu offered at lunch and dinner. Coffee and cake is available throughout the day.
One of the menus that we were provided had pages missing. A suggestion to offer both a spoon and fork when serving dessert as the dessert just floats around the large bowl and one has to use their finger to hold it to scoop onto the spoon. We requested for the bill but it was not presented to us eventually we gave up waiting and walked up to the counter to pay. The waiter on duty was not very attentive and was busy completing their mis-en-place rather than paying attention to the guests in the restaurant. Eventually he disappeared and we didn't see him on our way out. Unfortunately the service let down the whole rating inspite of the food being excellent.
Lovely food and service. Very reasonably priced
As a local though food was a bit over priced compared to restaurants of similar level in Brisbane . Service was very average had to keep looking for a waiter to place order including desert
Service was poor , there needs to be more staff around. 400g ribeye was over cooked , the mushroom sauce was bitter
Wait staff were slow and didn’t seem likely to upsell. No water at the table until we’d reminded the bar staff that we’d requested it. Oysters not available, prior to 8pm on a Friday night, that’s poor!
Front counter greeting us was rude. Pork belly and crackle tasted like it was from the bottom of the fridge and weeks old. Steak was ok and fish and chips safe. Overall for the price and service a big letdown and really disappointing
Very good omelette
Absolutely excellent and friendly service.Good quality food.
Food was quite enjoyable however some options were not available unfortunately such as oysters and scallops. However the service was poor. We had 3 waiters during our visit. Our service experience included: rudeness, not mentioning unavailable items, having to chase down staff to get a drink and a casual attitude to our visit. Given the restaurant was quiet there is no excuse for poor service given it’s a large part of the experience. We would try it again as food was good but hope some effort goes into the front of house staff attitude.
I booked a few days earlier for 5 (3 adults & 2 kids) for lunch. We arrived on time and ordered 3 Caesar salads all with chicken, one was with no croutons. One kids meal from the menu was supposed to come with mash potato. There were only around 6 other patrons in the restaurant. An hour and a half later we had to ask for our salads and were told they were "almost out" anyway when they arrived they were a complete balls up! How you can get Caesar Salad so wrong I don't know but mine was missing the poached egg and no dressing, another was missing the chicken and the kids meal which on the menu says mash potato came out with chips on it which the child does not eat. After another 10 minutes the salads arrived again the correct way they should have been but the kids mash was very substandard! like some old mash that was quickly defrosted. What should have been a quick lunch turned out to be over two hours and The Novotel has such a great name but I was left extremely embarrassed by booking this restaurant. A few days later I ordered a Caesar Salad in Mackay at a busy cafe and it was out within 15 minutes and exactly the way a standard Caesar Salad should be. made.
Very disappointing experience. This restaurant ignores information contained in a Table Plus booking. The pizza was overcooked. 50% was inedible due to being cooked rock hard. Either the waitress or the chef got my order wrong. I get better service at my local cafe.
Enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak in a relaxed setting with very friendly and efficient staff.
As Accor Plus members we look at Accor restaurants for somewhere to take friends/family from time to time. We had friends from England with us and we had no hesitation in taking them to the Catalina Bar & Restaurant which we have been to on many occasions and will continue to go there based on our experience there. Once again excellent and our friends commented highly on the food and service.
Excellent Club sandwich....
Food was good. Parking available underneath.
Possibly add a couple of more salad options in for lunch (with summer) ....
Always a lovely meal.
Quite noisy when there are people in the bar area. No wine list for dessert wine, port, cognac, whisky.
Worst service I have ever had. Had to ask girl to order, for our drinks, to bring us bill, to go get bill, and more and more. She just stood around.
Had a great, relaxed family lunch.
Would have been good for a 3 star Motel but falls short by the standards of a high quality hotel.
Always enjoy a meal at the Catalina when ever we visit
Excellent start to Melbourne cup day
1. Reservation made on line and restaurant sent me a reminder a few days before. But no record of it when we arrived. No matter. It was a quiet night. 2. Notice at restaurant reception said my Accor membership, which I pay for, would not be recognised as it was a public holiday. No doubt there is some fineprint that allows this, but I am not aware of it. Unhappy. No attempt by manager to explain or issue regrets. Now a captive as no convenient alternative restaurant available. Why could the restaurant not advise me when the booking was made, or when it sent the reminder message to me? No matter. I reduced my anticipated order and restaurant probably got less $$ than it would have. 3. Ordered barramundi. None. Salmon. None. No matter. The lamb was good, but not what I wanted. Why not tell diners when the menu is handed out that some items are not available. Three negatives on the first night of my holiday!! Hope the next month is better.
