About Carrier's Restaurant at Hintlesham Hall Hotel
Fresh – Seasonal – Local
Fine dining to everyday dining
Welcome to Ipswich’s Carrier’s Restaurant at Hintlesham Hall. We offer guests and local residents a taste of history and passion through our seasonal menus filled with rich flavours, designed for maximum enjoyment for our guests while remaining at reasonable prices. The restaurant offers a menu full of options and flavour, perfect for any formal and informal occasion from birthday celebrations to family meals out.
The re-naming of the restaurant also includes a full restoration of Robert’s old herb garden and vegetable patch, which is now in full swing once more, producing a mass of vegetables for the Kitchen including: Fine Beans, Broad Beans, Peas, Heritage Carrots, Courgettes, Swiss Chard, Radishes, along with a variety of Salads and Herbs appearing on our seasonal menus.
Hintlesham Hall’s Head Chef demands the best quality ingredients to build a well-balanced carte which appeals to gourmet and health-conscious alike. Many of the dishes encompass fresh herbs from the Hall’s famous garden, and our extensive wine list ranges the world from France to Australia, and includes a marvellous selection of half-bottles.
Our Head Chef is passionate about offering the best cuisine possible, appealing to all tastes and encompassing all dietary requirements. We have a full a la carte menu running alongside our Table d’Hote Dinner menu and we also have our informal lounge menu (available daily from 7.00am to 10.30pm) offering lighter bites to enjoy in any of our lounges, bedrooms or within our beautiful gardens.
Excellent as always!
Nothing to fault food and service were excellent. Tables well spaced out in lovely surroundings, excellent.
We are not fans of inclusive service charge so that is always a minus for us. The food was nice but not outstanding, a little underwhelming / lacking in real flavour we felt.
In the climate of Covid, this was a great experience as all care was taken by staff and in the whole set up of the hotel and restaurant. We will certainly return at some time in the future. Also - food was excellent!
I think the whole afternoon tea experience would have benefitted from some background music. The service was quite poor. My mum got served the wrong tea, nobody asked if everything was OK for us. My mum hadto go and look for a staff member to inform them of the wrong tea. By the time her tea arrived, I had finished my coffee. I also found a small bone in my chicken sandwich which could have been a potential choking hazard. When mentioning this to a staff member, nothing was done, apart from a quick apology. We were then left waiting for an age to finalise payment. The whole experience was meant to be a special treat, I cannot complain about the food as it was lovely, apart from the bone. But we were not given a choice of bread etc. Slightly disappointing to be honest.
It was a lovely lunch and we could not fault it! Look forward to coming back and actually staying next time.
Three delicious courses, with friendly but unobtrusive service. Our fixed price lunch, inclusive of wine and coffee, was simply excellent value.
Such a wonderful lunch we had celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary here. Hintlesham is so lovely, the staff are first class and also so welcoming. Head chef Jon’s food is always amazing. I can’t recommend Hintlesham enough for their outstanding food and service. Thank you Xxx
Excellent service, lovely food and all very Covid safe and well organised.
We had a hugely enjoyable family Sunday Lunch at Hintlesham Hall. We received excellent produce and hospitality in surroundings we are very fond of. Good to see the Hotel are working hard to protect their customers and staff in the current challenging conditions. Cannot wait to return.
Excellent meal We will come back soon
Surprised to see the 12.5% service charge added to bill, albeit discretionary
Pleasant and quite meal
Everything was up to your usual extremely high standard but it just lacked the atmosphere in the dining room, despite the efforts of your great staff the tables looked if service had finished. That accepted looking foward to joining you all again very soon
We very much enjoyed our afternoon tea but did feel that others we had tried were better value for money. We had to wait quite some time for service when we had to move inside because of the rain. Outside was lovely but when we had to move inside there was no real atmosphere as we were alone in the room and I felt guilty being there as we had waited some time to be told whee to go and then just sat at a table. We brought our food in but waited a long time for a fresh tea although this was recognised at check out. We were also confused as to whether coffees such as lattes were included in the price or extra and whilst we were not charged we felt it should have been made clearer. Overall though it was very nice.
Food and service first class
A lovely afternoon spent in delightful surroundings. Friendly professional staff provided a delicious afternoon tea treat.
The set lunch menu is excellent value for money and even better during August's 'Eat out to help out' scheme. Good food in a lovely setting with attentive service. Many thanks.
Food was excellent and would have given 5 stars however, I wasn't happy with my red wine, the smell and taste, I did mention it to the waitress and no response, I may have been just not to my liking but I think a staff member should have investigated, I didn't drink much of the wine, and it was the first time I'd ever left wine at Hintlesham. or anywhere else. On arrival we ordered a bar drink but no offer of nibbles, as we had done in the past, we had to ask. It was lovely having our coffee in the garden. I was very disappointed when coming to pay as I was given a bill for the full cost, the £20 government allowance was not deducted and it was only taken off when I queried the bill. I did mention the red wine issue when paying and was very disappointed with the answer, perhaps I should have made more of an issue of it, but it was our wedding anniversary lunch I didn't want to spoil the day for my wife. All said and done we will dine at Hintlesham again as the food is so good. I Have recommended Hintlesham to a number of golfing friends but I will think twice in future especially as a 12.5% service charge has been added so the lunch deal, I'd rathet it was left to my discretion.
Good service, excellent food, classically beautiful atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for more.
Lovely afternoon tea very well presented and adhering to covid19 perfectly without intrusion
I want to say a big “thank you” to all the staff concerned. It was a fantastic experience as usual, brilliant Quality food, with great customer service.
The food was exceptional.
I can’t praise it enough, It was such a lovely evening! The food, drink and service was fantastic, as normal. I couldn’t fault it at all & would highly recommend this experience to anyone. Plus, for the whole experience, it gives such fantastic value. I would like to say, once again, a big thank you, to all the staff, for making it a brilliant evening.
Absolutely wonderful afternoon - such a lovely atmosphere and surroundings, thank you so much for looking after us so well. The food and the selection of coffees and teas available was delicious and the staff were polite & attentive.
