Unfortunately we left feeling that the area was not very clean. The floor was not clean and there was a huge piece of chewing gum stuck to the table underneath on the corner so easily felt.

Myself and my mother in law had a wonderful champagne afternoon tea at the captains club. The only negative I have is, that when making this booking I made sure to note that one of us could not have gluten or raisins, i also followed this up with 2 phone calls leading up to the day. Sadly when they afternoon tea came out one was gluten free and had to be sent back and then when it came out the 2nd time it was gluten free but there was no gluten free scones with out raisins available. This was booked back in August... Aside from this we had a lovely time and the staff in the restaurant were brilliant.

We always choose the Captains Club - its well worth the drive down from Guildford, Surrey. Tank you for a lovely lunch yesterday, we were celebrating ur Ruby wedding anniversary and although we could not stay over this time we still enjoyed the food, service, ambience - just everything was perfect. Two things displeased me last evening. 1 Being told that there was a charge for parking in the hotel grounds, the charge was waived because it was raining. 2 Having a Discretionary Service Charge added to the bill, without being told, which I would have paid had I not checked the bill which can be embarrassing if you are entertaining guests.

We had a lovely meal as usual at the captains club. Staff were lovely, gave perfect service and attention. Thank you. We always enjoy our visits here and are never disappointed with service , quality of food and views. However to be asked to pay for our car parking is a joke. We were celebrating our anniversary and spent £100 on a meal for 2 last night and were made to pay to park in your car park. My partner got soaking wet trying to sort change out as we were not aware that this has changed and sat having his meal wet. He wanted to leave and go somewhere else as he was angry but we did stay as I didn't want it to ruin our evening. We made a suggestion that customers staying in your hotel and customers using the restaurant should not be asked to pay for car parking or at least be given a permit for the time they are there or be refunded the charge. We visit your hotel often and spend a lot of money with you on evenings out with friends, meals, company Christmas party's every year and we won't be returning out of principle until this has changed.

Waiting staff need to be more attentive.. & respond to customer needs more quickly. Car parking situation is ridiculous. After paying close to £200 for a meal for 3.. I really don't need to be searching around for coins to pay for parking my car on your premises.

When we arrived for our afternoon tea we had seen the car park now has a ticket machine and only guests have permits (guests who have a room) Lovely friendly staff on reception who told us where to wait to be seated. However when we waited at the kiosk a tall man in a suit walked over to us and said nothing no good afternoon, no welcome, he just stared at us. So I then said we were here for an afternoon tea and gave him my name and he turned around not really sure where to seat us so felt like we were just sat anywhere. He then took our gift voucher but didn't communicate with the waiter staff who kindly gave us a menu. In the meantime my husband was having to get cash back at reception to get a ticket for parking as he had no signal to do online parking. The food and drink was lovely but at that time sadly we found it extremely noisy so we didn't enjoy the full experience.

Diners arriving at similar times were all placed at one end of the room with all other tables empty until further diners arrived later - no privacy even for 30 mins. I do not expect my dining party to be referred as 'Guys' in such an establishment. Its bad enough in a fast food chain! I do not expect the waiter to state out load the bill total. The meal felt rushed. We were being served main course less than 20 mins after taking our seats, having had starters too. The food was good Atmosphere was somewhat lacking. Sporadic piano music seemed to be it. Overall, I thought it was expensive for what it was and a bit pretentious. I prefer Gordleton Mill which I consider offers similar dining experience, equal quality, better value and better trained staff. I am unlikely to return or recommend.

I would have liked to have seen a set menu for the evening not just at lunchtime. I asked the waitress as soon as we sat down and she said yes so I thought she had gone to fetch the separate set menu. We waited and waited so I asked again and she then confirmed that there was no set menu that evening, very confusing. But as usual lovely food, fabulous cocktails and very relaxing atmosphere. There was also a gorgeous doggy sat under the table beside us which is always lovely to see and I think should be allowed more in restaurants. So well done on that.

Was very dissapointing experience. Service was very poor. No one came to check if everything was ok with our meal. When we ordered our main we asked for 1 medium rare and one rare steak. We really made point that rare steak needs to be rare and it cameout medium rare. For such fine dinning place was very dissapointing especially ruined our special occasion

As a hotel guest who had booked the table in advance I was extremely disappointed to be stuck on a table at the side of the room with a fine view of the toilets. The restaurant was so noisy that, with the table only suitable for sitting opposite each other, we could barely hear each other speak. Not the relaxed evening meal we were hoping for. It took quite a while for us to be noticed and given menus - I was on the point of going back to the reception desk and asking if we could be served - and we weren’t at that stage offered a drink. The food was very good which briefly lifted my impressions of this restaurant. Sadly they dipped again at the end of the meal as, despite saying we would look atthe dessert menu, the waiter disappeared, never to be seen again and the menu never appeared. 25 minutes later we gave up. Overall disappointing.
