Went on a busy Fathers Day and still had the full attention when required, great atmosphere
Firstly, we would like to congratulate the new Restaurant Manager on how he dealt with a very disappointing evening for us. The food order was wrong, the mains were not hot, the fish was overcooked and dry, delivery of main meal was very slow, over an hour between starters and main! We would not have stayed for dessert, but the Manager said they were on the house. It was not a pleasant atmosphere as there were was a huge party in the main restaurant, who were very loud and seem to get all the attention. They should have booked a separate room, in our opinion.
We held our 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration here and found from booking to paying the whole experience was 1st class
We had a fabulous time at the Mary Poppins afternoon tea. I took my 73 year old mother for her birthday, and my 5 year old son. We had a wonderful time and as it was the opening event day they had "the real" Mary and Bert there! Food and service were amazing. Thank you
It is always a pleasure to visit the Captain s Club. The service is always excellent and the afternoon tea is always a treat. I would however like to suggest that you could maybe serve afternoon tea a bit earlier starting at 1.30.
Always love to come here, food, staff and atmosphere always impeccable. A perfect spot to sit, chat and enjoy the views.
Staff were lovely, food was good, just a little overpriced
Highly recommend, our waitress Romy was lovely and gave us the perfect service! A little disappointed there was no lobster on the menu as it said online however I understand to serve fresh it depends on the catch!
We had a lovely evening with super food, drinks and views Thank you see you in August x
A lovely time had with my friends. Highly recommend the afternoon tea.
Not keen on gratuity added to bill automatically
Everything spot on. Staff were very attentive and food was great. Only issue was that it was almost £14 for a pint of beer and a glass of prosecco from the bar. Seemed a tad expensive.
I object to the service charge being added to the bill. That should be at my discretion
Lovely birthday lunch. The location is superb. The food was delicious, the service was slick and we will return that's for sure! Thanks for looking after us so well.
We've eaten at the Captain's Club a few times. Some visits have been better than others, but we've never been particularly impressed. Nice but over-rated. The food was good but not excellent and the service in the restaurant was good. But service in the bar was incredibly slow. We must have waited for nearly 15 minutes just for a bottle of Prosecco and 4 glasses to be brought to our table in the lounge. The atmosphere is okay when it's busy, with a lovely outlook over the river, but it doesn't have the feeling of a 4 star luxury hotel. Strange open plan layout so when you're having a drink in the lounge, unless you're lucky enough to get a table by the window, you feel like you're sitting half in the entrance foyer/reception area rather than in a lovely bar. Just all a bit underwhelming.
I booked an afternoon tea for a celebration with friends and it was brilliant. Katie, how I corresponded with by email was always very prompt with replying and helpful. The afternoon tea itself was fantastic value for money and really tasty. The staff on the day were mostly attentive and friendly.
Lounge restaurant would benefit from changing the menu from time to time
Amazing gluten free option, best I've had so far
The whole experience from beginning to end was faultless, The Staff were friendly and polite as well as being attentive but not overly where you feel you can't relax. The quality of food was exceptional all round and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our party. I am looking forward to coming back to the captain club again to experience it all over again.
Delicious afternoon tea, served by friendly staff members in a delightful setting. Great selection of sweet and savoury food.
Fab as always x
A very enjoyable afternoon for my mother’s 80th birthday. Katy made my booking experience hassle free and attentive staff on the day contributed to a fabulous experience.
Good location and an excellent hotel that we like returning to. Only disappointment this visit was the evening meal which I found to be very bland and tasteless but it was compensated for when we came to pay the bill when asked if we had enjoyed our meal. Will not put us off returning again
Great Sunday roast, highly recommend it.
We really enjoy our dining experience at Captains Club, everyone there makes you feel looked after and makes it a special experience. Thank you to everyone, we will be back :-)
