Modern Portuguese dining in a relaxed, casual neighbourhood setting.
A new restaurant in Ancoats from Simon Shaw and the team behind El Gato Negro Tapas
Wonderful, loved it. The off the bone chicken wings had a real kick to them & I didn't think I'd enjoy a carrot so much! Thank you. Class place
I met my boss and a new client at Canto and it was absolutely perfect. Really relaxed, gorgeous menu and great wine! Not too complicated and a good reflection of Portuguese cuisine and culture. Keep it up!
I noticed after I had paid that there was pink lipstick on the glasses so they had not been cleaned properly. We were then offered another glass of wine as a way of apology which I declined. The food was average so we would not recommend or eat here again.
Lovely as always
Great Food and Atmosphere. Really attentive service. Nice that the dishes arrive at well spaced intervals. Gin nicely presented - a little steeply priced perhaps - food worth every penny.
Little slow on taking and receiving drinks orders but overall very good. Thanks!
Excellent meal. Very creative dishes and high quality ingredients used
Baby squid and polenta particularly good!
Lovely, chilled atmosphere! Friendly staff and we were even given a complimentary plate. Food is delicious and would highly recommend for Friends.
Beautiful food and great service!
Nice food and friendly service
Been to El Gato Negro numerous times but this was the first visit to Canto. Food and service were excellent but the atmosphere of the restaurant was not quite as good as El Gato Negro.
All of the dishes we had were so good! The staff were attentive and helpful. We loved it!
Great as usual!!
Great food, great service!
All the food was lovely, my fave was the chocolate tart!!!
First time at Canto, loved it, food fantastic, service equally the same, wouldn’t hesitate to return thanks Canto team :-)
Real shame we were made to have the set menu due to the fact there were eight of us - not the best selection of the food I’ve had here previously and we’d definitely have spent more money had we been able to choose freely. We’d ordered one veggie set menu and my friend waited over an hour to get anything she could eat (and we had to kick up a fuss to get that brought), which was disappointing. Staff were lovely and we’ve had much better service in the past so maybe a big group on Saturday night isn’t the best idea.
Food was really good, although a handful of dishes were very pricey for what you got - for example the lamb skewers at £13.50 aren’t that substantial. Good selection of wine and cocktails. Staff very friendly.
Great food amazing service
All the food served was very tasty, just like it’s sister restaurant El Gato Negro it’s consistently good. Great Service. The Mushroom Croquettes are surprisingly very tasty The desserts in my opinion at least could be better. Would definitely go again.
Waiting staff were very friendly, but not the most competent. Something that could be solved with a little training and better organisation.
Just lovely. V tasty and good atmosphere. House wine was super too. Many thanks Anne
Visited Canto before but was nice to see new choices on the menu and the restaurant itself had been changed too which was really nice
