About Cannonball Restaurant & Bar
Cannonball House is one of the city’s oldest and most important buildings with stunning views to Edinburgh Castle. Our cosy bar lists over 120 Scotch whiskies and is open for lunch, cocktails and pre dinner drinks. From the bar we will escort you up the atmospheric old school staircase to our award winning Scottish Restaurant, serving delicious, seasonal quality dishes in a truly unique location.
Fresh East Coast lobster, oysters, Bellhaven Smoked salmon, seasonal Scottish game and the best Scotch Beef from Inverurie are always on the menu. And, of course our haggis cannonballs are not to be missed!
Serving old fashioned fish and chips all day.
Un’esperienza unica, piatti ottimi, qualita’ eccellente. Servizio, disponibilita’, gentilezza TOP
We had a lovely meal, the setting is beautiful and the service was great, friendly and professional. We will be back. Thank you
Fabulous Quality food with great customer service Hospitality top notch
5 course taste of Scotland menu - good food and lovely staff. Castle view definitely makes it a unique dining experience!
Our waiter Sebastian was first class. Very attentive to our needs when required. The food was excellent, though the wine was over-priced, even taking into account the SNPs price hike, though it shouldn't have affected a Multipulciano. At £27 too much.
We havent been for years, but the first floor bar is a great addition. We took Dutch friends who tasted haggis for the first time and what better way to start than the Cannonballs...!
Love this Restaurant. Go as often as we can.
Very nice place, hard to find the way out. LOL
Genuinely could not fault anything. Service, atmosphere, food were all second to none which is rare these days. We probably had the best table with view of the castle which was beautiful. I liked the owner coming round and chatting to everyone and being genuinely friendly. The waiters and bar staff were all exceptional too. Definetly coming back!
Exceptional view on the castle in an unique atmosphere. Great welcoming and service. Exquisite food. Highly recommended.
Thought the food was very good ... had the cannonballs (Haggis) and venison haunch. We ordered a bottle of red and a bottle of white and the white took too long to get to the table. One of our party had ordered white to go with her starter so we were sat waiting for it. Had a similar problem at you sister restaurant on George street where red wine arrived when we nearly finished our main course. Setting is really lovely and we would definitely come back.
Everything was fantastic from drinks service on arrival in the bar until we left with staff thanking us and wishing us a lovely evening! What else can I say?
Nothing but praise - excellent setting, service and food for my party of nine all of whom (apart from myself) were from out of town. Thank you for providing the right mood and atmosphere for a most enjoyable evening.
What a terrific place .... Wonderful food and service. The best meal during our stay in Edinburgh.
Excellent food and service in an atmospheric restaurant. I have never been disappointed on any of my visits. On my recent visit to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we were particularly well looked after by our server, Emma.
Lovely evening. Great welcome, service and food.
Perfect location and amazing food at a good price. The service was great and so friendly. Would recommend this to anyone going to the city. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Excellent on every count from the friendly welcome to our reluctant departure.Food and service flawless and loads of atmosphere. Deserves to be better known by Edinburgh diners.
We had a beautiful view of the Castle. However the Heavy jazz music was too extreme for an almost empty Restaurant.
Service was rather slow , about 40 mins before we were shown to our table. Starters were mixed up and not brought out at the same time. Otherwise fine.
The members of staff were excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and struck just the right note. We will definitely be back. The restaurant and bar are beautifully located in the old Victorian Castle Hill School with wonderful views towards the Castle esplanade and down the High Street.
We had a lovely evening. The food, drink, service and atmosphere at Canonball we’re great. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We had the best table in Edinburgh
