About Cannonball Restaurant & Bar
Cannonball House is one of the city’s oldest and most important buildings with stunning views to Edinburgh Castle. Our cosy bar lists over 120 Scotch whiskies and is open for lunch, cocktails and pre dinner drinks. From the bar we will escort you up the atmospheric old school staircase to our award winning Scottish Restaurant, serving delicious, seasonal quality dishes in a truly unique location.
Fresh East Coast lobster, oysters, Bellhaven Smoked salmon, seasonal Scottish game and the best Scotch Beef from Inverurie are always on the menu. And, of course our haggis cannonballs are not to be missed!
Serving old fashioned fish and chips all day.
What a wonderful evening, your staff were so welcoming and helpful, the service was prompt and very courteous and the food was delicious. Thanks for a lovely night
Food is ok. Service can be improved.
Excellent food in a lovely location right next to the castle.
We held our 25th Wedding anniversary meal with our extended family at the Cannonball Restaurant. The team really went out of their way to look after us and the service in the Restaurant was excellent. If you are staying in the Old Town and looking for a special venue to hold a special occasion, then this would be a good choice.
The food was fantastic, every single course! Kim was a fantastic hostess, top serive, very friendly and engaging! Would defo recommended and will certainly return!
Good food. Wished the cider tap wasn’t broken when we were there
Great experience at your restaurant. Good food and fantastic staff
One of the best afternoon teas I've had. Lovely selection and very filling! The staff were so accommodating as I'm 35 weeks pregnant and they made sure I had replacements for the food items I couldn't eat. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The decor and ambience was cosy and relaxing. We would definitely recommend, it was an extremely satisfying and pleasant experience.
I was given ‘afternoon tea’ as a gift to celebrate a BIG birthday, never too sure of what you’ll get when your given a voucher... but, no fear, it was lovely! Would definitely recommend and hope to go back again.
Me and my boyfriend had a lovely time, everything was perfect, the food was excellent (expecially the Chicken) and Joanna was really helpful and friendly and her service was the best touch for made our evening special and memorable.
We felt the sandwiches, apart from the smoked salmon on cheese scones, were distinctly ordinary, Overall we were disappointed with our tea.
A nice respite away from the crowds. Great food and atmosphere.
Cosy restaurant with excellent food and excellent service, on the doorstep of Edinburgh Castle. The haggis cannonballs are a must try!
My friends from Kent came up for the fringe, and I decided to come here for lunch ,52years ago I attended catering college here where the restaurant is now is where we did our theory lessons, lots of lovely memories and a delightful luncheon ,the cannonball haggis was a treat ,also the hot smoked salmon salad ,we then walked to the Caledonian hotel and finished our day with a G andT lovely day thank you very much Janette Steele
Very good food for reasonable prices. Great service.
Lovely afternoon tea
Table too small for party of four, felt an little cramped. Food and service good.
Wonderful spot literally right next to the castle!
A Nice place to visit for a tea, a lunch or a dinner !
Absolutely delicious food. Excellent service. Great location.
Excellent afternoon tea as before and my husband enjoyed the Glengoyne whisky!
The highlight of the Tea was The Teapot dram. The waitress brought the pot of tea 30 minutes prior to the sandwiches ect, safe to say it was finished by the time the main event arrived. This was refilled for free. I have to say, the main event was nothing like the picture on the advert for it. Very small finger sandwiches, small dry scones & I think it's the smallest cakes I have ever seen. Very disappointing to say the least.
Afternoon tea was lovely. Excellent service too.
First time I have had haggis, and it was excellent. Every dish I tried was delicious! The wait staff, owner, and food was amazing. Thank you.
Gorgeous afternoon tea, atmosphere, staff and prosecco! Had a lovely time thank you :)
