About Canalside Pub & Grill
We want to provide exactly what our customers want, and have 10 draft beers on tap, including a 'punters pump', serving the beer voted for by you. We have a fabulous restaurant with a large fireplace, a chargrill oven and an affordable menu featuring tasty daily specials, sandwiches, breakfasts and bar bites made from local produce.
Whatever your favourite sport, we show all the most important matches live. Combined with our popular live music events and weeknight happenings, the Canalside is the perfect place to enjoy a pint and a bite.
It was lovely to be back dining and Canalside is one of our fave places to dine. I had lunch with my two boys and we really enjoyed our lunch. The lady who served us was lovely! Very bubbly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely relaxing place to eat. We will be back!!
Staff were fantastic and friendly. Food was lovely as usual. Best local restaurant by far.
Nice to be back, starters were delicious (Nachos, Pitta Bread), mains a little below par ( Fish and chips, firecracker pizza). However still remains a favourite haunt of ours.
Staff very helpful and friendly,we had the fish and steak pie, both very tasty and price was good
Staff very attentive and food very good.
Absolutely love this place. Always friendly and a relaxing atmosphere. The food is unbelievable also. First time with my wee boy and the staff engaged with us all. Lovely place and recommend it to everybody.
Food was good, menu limited with choices. I’m sure there was more choice when I dined there a while back. Just hoping it’s all to do with COVID restrictions .
Came for the first time since moving to the area since its been shut down since we moved here (for obvious reasons). Really enjoyed the food, the service was excellent and all the staff that seen to us were really pleasant and attentive. Glad to consider this a local and will definitely be coming back in the near future.
The service was slightly disorganised, however, we appreciate that you are still finding your feet since reopening after lockdown. Will be happy to see your full menu restart.
Was really good, knew we only had table till 1430 so didn’t really need waiter telling us at 1405 that needed table back soon. MaYbe tell us 1420. Apart from that really enjoyed it.
First time visiting the Canalside and I’ll 100% percent be back me and my partner both loved it!
Husband was very disappointed with quality of the sirloin steak. Very tough. I had fish which was delicious as were both desserts. We definitely intend to return but will not be ordering steak.
Food excellent but prices gradually creeping up
This is a great place for food and drink and the staff are always so helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever a problem. The food is lovely. We visit regularly and have never been let down with the quality of the food and helpfulness of staff. Great value for money and doggie friendly too,
Disappointing there was no cocktails being served plus having to pay for mixers would rather have the price of the drink increased to cover that cost, food was nice however slightly dry. The outdoor area needs more heaters and wind protectors.
Great service. Very helpful
Can't fault the customer service - or the attention to detail. The wait staff were also flawless in their service. The amount of food certainly provided the value for money scoring but it's just so unfortunate that the food wasn't very good. I hate to score it so poorly but I barely ate anything - the starter of mushrooms on sourdough was slimy and sickly, the turkey main course was floating in goose fat and the vegetables tasted like chlorine, the cheeseboard dessert was the most foul mountain of stale slabs of cheese and crackers. I wonder if it's COVID that's perhaps affecting the quality of food but I want to be honest because everything else was of a very high standard.
I'm a regular at the Canalside - bar and restaurant - and couldn't believe they were opening for Xmas day after the year we'd just had - CoVid 2020. There had been a total refurbishment of the restaurant during it's short closure too. Anyway that aside - they excelled themselves........everything from reception, setting, food and service were top notch. There have been many compliments on my personal Facebook page where I shared photos of the courses - especially the desert........the Chocolate Torte which was amazing. I'd highly recommend visiting - I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Food and service was great as always. Covid measures didn't ruin the atmosphere. Gutted it has had to close again.
Fantastic meal on Christmas Day, amazing service from the staff, great atmosphere x
Service was slow, food ok, staff friendly
Had a booking for Christmas Eve dinner. Turned up and was told there were a few things unavailable on the menu - which is understandable. However, by the time it came to us ordering our first choices were also unavailable and by the time it came to us picking second choices they had sold out of everything except a salad and a hotdog. Had to leave and walk all the way back home hungry. Very disappointed since we had pre booked the table. Not a great start to our Christmas.
Disappointed that mo christmassy food but what we had was lovely.
Great food served by super friendly staff, made to feel very welcome and never felt hurried, will definitely be back.
