A fabulous restaurant! The food, drink & service were all exceptional. Without doubt the best meal we’ve had in years. Thank you!
It’s not that easy to keep coming up with superlatives about Camille’s inspirational cooking, and Sara’s superb cocktails, but I’ll try. We had another flawless supper there last night; glad to dodge the Burns Night revelry elsewhere. (Love haggis and whiskey, just not keen on Burns...) We slurped our way through herb aioli heaped on slivers of warm Jerusalem artichoke fresh from the pan, further borne to our greedy faces by radicchio leaves and honey roast turnip. Yes, you did read the latter right. And yes, it was delicious. We felt replete and this was just the starter, but with characteristic determination set ourselves to consume everything we’d ordered, in fear of missing out on one morsel of Camille’s cooking. It’s so wideranging. The pasta slid down with squeals of delight, how I wish I could cook cod with such superb timing, and the duck... The duck breast was simply the best duck I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Ever. Lightly seared, then sous-vide for 1.5 hours then another blast of heat to the fat. Sounds like a faff I’m unlikely to emulate at home, but thank you for going to the trouble, Camille. It’s delightfully seared on my memory. Succulent, tender, slightly caramelised. I didn’t know a tapenade sauce was a thing (apparently one adds creme fraiche) but its tangy saltiness completely complemented the tender sweetness of the pork cheeks with which it was served. There was no way we could manage a dessert, and we want to express our regret about that. I haven’t even mentioned the homemade bread, wonderful wine recommendation, and personable and perfect service. Just go to this amazing restaurant we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep.
Good well balanced food but overpriced. Interesting wine list. No frills decor. Nice service.
Excellent food, but small portions and pricey if you get the taster menu
Very creative cuisine based on produits du terroir. Delicious with always a warm welcome from the team. A real gem hidden on Newington Green.
Food was delicious. Wines were lovely. Service was great. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening. We’ll be back!
Our first visit but will not be our last. Really delicious meal, delightful service, an amazing restaurant to have just round the corner - can't wait to return
A lovely evening. The octopus bourguinon was a triumph and the pastry in the pear and hazelnut tart was so so light. Camille is an exceptional chef.
A party of 4, we went for the tasting menu. Great food, lovely wine. Enjoyed it so much we totally lost track of time. will be returning.
A memorable evening of food from Cérès' tasting menu.
Amazing food and good wines ! Very attentive service and very good catch up with the master chef Camille ! Will go again for sure
Ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing, and both the meal and wine were fabulous!
We booked a table for 10 and it went down a treat! You have to have the tasting menu but the portions are big and the meat substitute was great. Loved it!
The food was as excellent as the service was friendly. The Chef made sure that everyone was having the best experience possible and made the occasion very special. Will definitely come back again!
The main courses & cheese board were very nice. The starters were a little disappointing, the carrot tempura was just tiny slivers of carrot so only really tasted of batter. Also our starters came separately, we were forewarned but it does spoil the atmosphere of dining out together when that happens. Over all, nice comfort food, a good wine selection and lovely homely service.
Un nid douillet où la gastronomie et le créativité se mêlent pour le plus grand plaisir du client. A conseiller et à recommander vivement.
Glorious Autumn tasting menu with excellent wine pairing. Very happy local!
The food was delicious, if a bit pricey. The carrot tempura with cauliflower sauce and caramelised hazelnuts was very tasty and wonderful, as was the fish (also nice and juicy). We had a lovely time and would come again. Really curious about what the winter menu will bring.
Superb cooking and wine matches. The flavours were intense and in interesting combinations. The quality of the ingredients, and preparation of them was of a very high standard
Delicious dinner as always!
What a great meal! Went to dinner with a friend on Saturday night, the place was packed and buzzing. Although tempted by the tasting menu we decided to choose some sharing plates and we were not disappointed! First we started off with the most amazing cocktails, the Kiwi-quila (kiwi, tequila, lime) and Figamisu Vodka (homemade fig ice cream, coffee and vodka) then we had the pumpkin ravioli with blue cheese sauce (outstanding), the chicken liver (the highlight) and the veal and burrata (outrageous!). The Jumi cheeseboard, a carafe of Vinsobres and we were as happy as Larry! I'm not surprised they're in the Michelin guide they definitely deserve it. Highly recommend.
We had a relaxed Friday evening meal at Ceres, opting for the early autumn taster menu accompanied by a bottle of red. The food was fantastic, perhaps with the slight exception of the brioche which came as part of the first course.I found a bit too bulky and would have preferred toast with the delicious brown crab topping. Other dishes included fresh oysters, skate and veal - all absolutely amazing. The wine was excellent and good value. The service was impeccable and super friendly. The dining room could do with a bit of softening. Whilst the oak plywood furniture is beautiful (and comfortable) and the lighting is lovely there are too many hard surfaces making the small space a bit echoey. a couple of rugs on floor or walls would do the trick. Will be back!
We’ll be back to taste some more delicious dishes-one to watch.
Fantastic service, attentive and welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal
Interesting & very tasty food cooked with great skill - and a well-selected wine list. Waitress charming and attentive - a very enjoyable evening.
