About BYOC City
The new B.Y.O.C.has arrived in East London. Located just a stone’s throw from The Gherkin and a few minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street, our new venue is hidden in the basement under the James Cochran Restaurant.
B.Y.O.C. East Celebrates all that is the prohibition era, from dimly candle lit tables to homemade purees and mixers. We want you to bring a long your favourite tipple and let our expert mixologists whip it into a cocktail perfectly paired to your palette.
This venue is perfect for a group booking or a solitary escape from the modern day chaos.
My partner had a table booked from 8-10pm. We were seated at around 8:15 and come 8:45 we had still not been served or even approached by one of the barman. We asked the front of house for our money back at 8:50 and said we were going to leave. We needed to cacth a train at 10:30 and didn't want to pay £60 for half the time booked. The front of house agreed to give us £30 back if we stayed until 10pm which was fair enough. Nathan made us some very nice coktails but his colleagues was nothing special. Dissapointing as it was my partners birthday and we were ending our day in London here. My partner had been to BYOC Camden and had a great time which is why we booked. Not sure we will be visiting agin though.
Nathan was tremendous. He offered such exceptional service and produced great quality of drinks for us.
Had a great time for birthday drinks. Very well looked after!
Excellent drinks and service and they took good care of those going for non alcoholic drinks. Would recommend for a special occasion.
We had Jay as our bartender and he was amazing! We all had the best night and a large part of that was the service from Jay! So thank you!
Thank you to Lucas and Pedro who were excellent bartenders. We had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a different cocktail experience. The staff were so accommodating and fun, really made us feel welcome
Although we had a great time here and its a lovely little venue. We walked around for ages trying to find you. The sign is so small. I would suggest you put that you are inside of James Cochran when you send out the confirmation of your booking. So people know what to look for. Apart from that it was great.
30th birthday celebrations for my boyfriend, had a wonderful experience. Great staff, atmosphere, drinks and service. Will always come back
We really enjoyed our night. Our waiter Pedro was fantastic and made the night. We were impressed with every cocktail. They were all inventive and delicious. Only comment was that it was very cold. But after a few drinks we were fine.
The person who was serving us and making the cocktails was extremely pleasant however I felt that one person making cocktails for 11 people was far too slow, especially when we brought plenty of alcohol. Plus we had 2 unopened bottles of alcohol left over which they did not offer back to us. One of these was an expensive gin and so I don't think it was a coincidence that the cheaper alcohol was used first and they were not going to give us back our expensive alcohol had we not insisted. We were also basically kicked out as we were half an hour over our allotted time yet there were only about 8 other people in the whole place at that time and so I don't think our table was needed. It was a shame as I had high hopes and it was my 30th birthday celebration but overall I felt quite let down by the experience.
Had such a great evening. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgable and made us some of the best cocktails we have tasted. We didn’t feel rushed at all and the drinks were always perfectly timed with us finishing the last! Thanks
I went with 7 friends to BYOC East last Saturday. I had been before to the Camden and Soho branch so had On arrival at the restaurant (above BYOC) there was no signage or anyone from BYOC to greet us for a good 5 mins. Instead, a rather prim, quite rude woman from the restaurant told us to "stay where you are until told otherwise" when one of us ventured downstairs to see why it was taking so long. After finally being greeted, we were led downstairs to our table which was in the room on the right. The walls were lined with modern-looking bookshelves, filled with old books. The combo looked very odd if I was honest, and ruined the vibe slightly. Our cocktail waiter Salvatore was very good and came up with a great range of cocktails for us (we brought rum, tequila, gin and prosecco) - would definitely recommend him. The only slight downside was that he was also looking after another big party so was not able to give us as much attention/make us drinks at a faster pace! Overall, compared to the Camden branch, this one felt like a bit of a let down. We probably won't be coming back to this one again.
The cocktails were fabulous. So creative and like nothing I’ve tried anywhere else.
I thought overall it was a great evening. I felt a little bit more attention could have gone in to the atmosphere of the place and the aesthetics. Also, I had asked for an additional person to join but was told you were fully booked however there were empty chairs at our table. I feel more could have been done to accommodate which would have resulted in more money for your business
Really liked the concept; glad to see the bartender could actually mix! Atmosphere was good but could do with hiding the massive glass freezer! Option to extend time would be a good shout! Bigger 'BYOC' sign outside too! Overall; would definitely go again! 👌
Cocktails were great! Admittedly, we were a bit early in the night so it was a bit quiet but had a great time.
Great customer service! Wonderful manager Maria abd staff including Pedro and Mike who ensured we had a great time!
The venue seemed run down and the toilet had vomit in it. The bar man was attentive but made cocktails that were all rich, dense and too sweet and all relied too much on egg white A lot of money and not worth it
Great atmosphere and the cocktail artists were very professional with all the drinks really tasty. We would have liked to discuss what flavours and styles of drinks we wanted to have across the night at the beginning with the cocktail artist instead they would bring each round as a surprise which was also nice but I think it would add to the experience to have an intro and discussion at the start. Also we love expresso martini’s however where disappointed that you didn’t have coffee. Overall was a great night though!!!
I visited BYOC for a joint birthday on Saturday 27th January. It was amazing value for money as we had around 6.5 cocktails each. Our mixologist was very attentive and always made sure we had a drink on the go. She mixed a variety of different drinks with our gin and vodka and made sure to ask us what we thought of each so that she could get an idea of our tastes. The rest of the staff were also incredibly polite and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was perfect, with music quiet enough for us to be able to have a catch up.
Terrible service. I booked this for my 22nd birthday and we were made to wait for a half hour before we were seated. Then an hour into our allocated time we were only given one drink. It was terrible service and poor all round.
We were a group of 8 and really enjoyed our time here and the atmosphere for about an hour and a half... After which there was an extremely rowdy group in the other room (which was fine, just a testament to the strength of the drinks). However, it got out of hand when one of those patrons vomited all over the hallway and in the women’s bathroom. Staff wandered through our section spraying vile air freshener freely (which as an asthmatic was far from ideal). With the taste of copious air freshener mixed with vomit fresh in the air drinks were hard to stomach. The ladies toilet didn’t get cleaned only the area outside. The sink remained full of vomit. The suggestion was to use the men’s, which again was far from sanitary. The group didn’t get removed, which is fine I guess, but the ‘speakeasy’ atomosphere was ruined completely. Drinks were good and the bartender skilled with good suggestions but the surroundings didn’t match the drinks and bad toilets and vomit are more the preserve of student bars and bad clubs not somewhere you’ve paid a min 30pp (45 inc entry, alcohol and tip).
Terrible bar tender who said he hates cocktails and insisted on making us mojitos and daiquiris . Extremely disappointed . Only got 4 drinks before being told to leave !!
Thank you Pedro for a truly fantastic time. You made our visit by being so friendly and welcoming, not to mention knowledgable and professional. We loved it. Thank you for a wonderful time! See you again.
