About Buttermilk and Maple
Buttermilk & Maple
Buttermilk and Maple is located on the famous Welsh Back waterfront, close to the historical Bristol Bridge that gave life to the city.
For centuries the bridge was the only crossing of the Avon for miles around. As Bristol spread to the southern bank of the river, the bridge joined the two halves of the city. A Georgian bridge toll caused outrage and led to Bristol’s bloodiest riot.
Relax history is the past! Buttermilk and Maple is the perfect place to meet with colleagues, catch-up with friends, share precious moments with family or just to be on your own chilling out, we have free Wi-Fi and plenty of power sockets near tables to keep you connected all day.
We serve great food from an early buffet breakfast, trendy brunch, light lunch… or not, afternoon tea and dinner that you can enjoy in a very laid back atmosphere. Don’t forget to order the pancakes!
Our team will also be delighted to guide you on a journey through our bar discovering wines, craft beers, gins, whiskeys and other spirits which combined together will create our fantastic Welsh Back themed cocktails .
We also have meeting rooms and a mezzanine for special events.
Just pop in, contact us …… and follow us on social media to keep in touch and see what’s happening every day!!!
Absolutely awful experience! We had specifically booked for a 'Sunday Roast' a couple of weeks before the date of our lunch. When we go there we were told they had stopped serving Sunday Roasts the week before our booking, we weren't informed of this. Then, prior to our table booking on the day, we rang the restaurant 15 times to ask if we could change the time of the table from 1pm to 1:30pm. As we didn't get a response at all, we managed to make the table for the original time of 1pm. When we arrived, we questioned this to the member of waiting staff who greeted us and her response was 'oh well we were probably busy'......no apology, nothing!!! We were sat down at our table after realising that the roast menu was unavailable but because of the lack of respect towards us, we decided to leave. The rest of the party left to go onto the next place but I waited so i could inform a member of staff that we were leaving. I was stood at the front desk waiting to speak to somebody and 3 members of staff walked past but avoided eye contact with me and no one came over. In the end i just left!! Disgustingly disappointing. We will never go back, not even for the bar.
Atmosphere was good, food lovely. Staff not very approachable, borderline rude and food service very slow considering it wasn't overly busy.
Chefs need to learn how to cook a poached egg rather than a hard boiled egg..
Lovely brunch. Great atmosphere. Delicious cocktails. Good service.
The food was good but unfortunately the service was poor. We were a group of 8 so I appreciate that there were a lot of us, but we ended up waiting over an hour for our food and when it came several of the orders were incorrect. I felt sorry for the waiter, was definitely not his fault.
absolutely amazingly service. Our waiter anticipated our needs and was very attentive. 10/10 would recommend
Our waiter was lovely, the food was good apart from the roast potatoes which tasted like theyd been reheated.
Excellent service and recommending to my theatre friends place to go for pre theatre food and cocktails
A lovely brunch with some amazing food! Staff very friendly and helpful.
Good Sunday roast with good helpings of veg and meat. The Yorkshire puddings were delicious. Service very attentive and friendly.
Great atmosphere and our server Alex was amazing! Very attentive and knew the reason we were there which was a nice touch. We went for our anniversary and the glass of champagne and chocolates were so lovely! The food was incredible and I have already recommended this to a few friends of ours. Thanks again and special thanks to Alex for being such a great host!
We attended for lunch. We were a little disappointed that the menu contained mainly brunch items with the only other alternatives being burgers or a Buda bowel. I have been previously and the selection had been far greater.
Great food, good sized portions and very helpful and friendly staff
Pancakes are gorgeous. Staff are friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced and the setting is lovely.
We didn't stay. After looking at the menu online I and my partner were eager to try the place out for Sunday roast. when introducing ourselves we were taking to our table and left. 15 mins later we caught the eye of a member of staff to ask what this week's starters and desserts were (it clearly states online and on the Sunday roast menu that these change weekly and we should ask our server) We were told they don't have any. it's not on till 6 pm despite the instructions being on a 12pm-6pm menu. Without any more explination, the serves walked off and in turn, so did we. Not only will we not be returning but I will be advising my colleagues (We work locally) while catching up over a coffee on a Monday morning to avoid this place at all costs. Our hunt for a local restaurant we can enjoy again and again continues...
Booked a table in advance but decided to sit outside because of the nice weather (along with many other people). Went inside to let the staff know & immediately it seemed like this was an inconvenience & I was told I’d have to order & pay at the bar. Had to fetch my own menu & effectively received no service as all drinks/coffees had to be ordered & collected at the bar! I had the house breakfast which arrived lukewarm & had obviously been sat waiting around. Would not return.
I had high hopes before eating at buttermilk and maple last night. Although a nice setting in a great location it didn’t live up to expectations. The service was reasonable without ever being good. Unfortunately the food really didn’t deliver. A decanted houmous platter was palatable but not great. However, the Mac and cheese with lobster was utterly average. Overcooked and felt like it had gone to die under a heat lamp. Dry and unappetising I didn’t finish it. A vanishingly rare occurrence. Overall a disappointing experience.
Lovely decor and atmosphere, tasty food with a twist and friendly staff. Thanks, Eust!
Great service, lovely food. Went with the whole family for a Sunday Roast (little ones too) and we were well looked after. Thank you
Great service and a very tasty brunch.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and it was a great bonus to be able to take our dog in. He was made a fuss of and even given a bowl of water which was a nice gesture.
Thank you for making the start of my husbands birthday great! Really didn’t expect the cake that was truly a lovely touch! Thank you again will be back for a brunch or roast soon! :)
Staff kept getting orders wrong and seemed a bit hungover. Food was underwhelming. Not likely to come back again
Service was terrible. So so slow considering the restaurant was nearly empty and because of this we missed our next reservation for cocktails which put a dampened on the hen evening. Food nothing to rave about. Will not be returning. Sort it out guys!
