About Buttermilk and Maple
Buttermilk & Maple
Buttermilk and Maple is located on the famous Welsh Back waterfront, close to the historical Bristol Bridge that gave life to the city.
For centuries the bridge was the only crossing of the Avon for miles around. As Bristol spread to the southern bank of the river, the bridge joined the two halves of the city. A Georgian bridge toll caused outrage and led to Bristol’s bloodiest riot.
Relax history is the past! Buttermilk and Maple is the perfect place to meet with colleagues, catch-up with friends, share precious moments with family or just to be on your own chilling out, we have free Wi-Fi and plenty of power sockets near tables to keep you connected all day.
We serve great food from an early buffet breakfast, trendy brunch, light lunch… or not, afternoon tea and dinner that you can enjoy in a very laid back atmosphere. Don’t forget to order the pancakes!
Our team will also be delighted to guide you on a journey through our bar discovering wines, craft beers, gins, whiskeys and other spirits which combined together will create our fantastic Welsh Back themed cocktails .
We also have meeting rooms and a mezzanine for special events.
Just pop in, contact us …… and follow us on social media to keep in touch and see what’s happening every day!!!
Beef roast sunday lunch....tender beef large Yorkshire pudding patatos light and fluffy (over seasoned my preference ) good veg. Not piping hot but hot enough to eat. 4/5
Waited 40mins for abit of breakfast. The full breakfast wasn't the best especially for a 10 pounds. I'd save your money and go elsewhere.
We love Buttermilk and Maple! Always have a lovely time here.
Food very good but service slow considering the restaurant was not too busy.
After several good conversations over phone and email, we were very disappointed with our experience here in the end. We had come to Bristol for the weekend and had chosen Buttermilk and Maple over a very broad option of excellent brunch places. Online it looked exactly like what we were hoping for. In reality not at all. The atmosphere was more bar like rather than cosy Cafe. We were asked to pre order our meals but we still had to wait 1 hour before our food arrived! So it was no longer breakfast but lunch time and safe to say we were starving! I ordered the veggie breakfast and I actually couldn't eat the veggies as they were not close to cooked. The drinks order took an age before they all arrived (I think some were actually forgotten). And finally we had several extra meals added to the bill that were not ours to pay for. Disappointed
Staff very polite. Food was great. Fantastic experience.
My friends and I only ate here. The service was pleasurable and enjoyable. The food was also well portioned and tasty. However, I felt that the location being attached to the hotel was unfortunate as the atmosphere felt 'hotelly'. I also think it might have been affected by the dark lighting, particularly in the booths on the far side. As well as being dark, the fixed table lights are too big if you're trying to have a sociable time. I would like to go again. I have heard good reviews about the cocktails!
Dear Lucy, Thank you for your kind comments, we do strive for a excellent service and nothing is ever to much for our staff. We will soon be starting Sunday Roasts and a big menu change coming soon so watch this space, We hope to see you back in the evening maybe one night for cocktails and tapas :) Regards Ben Peacock General Manager
The chicken burger was fantastic. The tapas dishes weren't as good and lacked flavour; the portions were massive but I'd have happily traded some of the size for taste. The cocktails were good and great value and the service was excellent.

Loved everything about the place. Most importantly was the start of their liquor licence always good to know where to go early for the perfect G&T. Great food, had the pancakes with maple syrup. lovely booths to sit in or open tables. Had a lovely time. Will definitely go again and going to take my sister next time for an irish coffee before shopping.
The staff were great and the food was lovely. It would be good to see some more interesting vegetarian options in future, but the quinoa burger was delicious. Thanks for a great evening.
Good food, service occasionally a little inattentive, pleasant surroundings
Had to wait quite a while for food, brought over the wrong drinks and the bill wasn’t correct. However food was lovely, just the service staff were poor
We came for brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was a lovely warm touch that she was offered a free glass of prosecco. The staff were polite and friendly. There was some building work going on which was a bit off-putting as we couldn't find how to actually enter the restaurant at first, and then we had to navigate our way around red tape and scaffolding. The pancakes and coffee were great. The 'Simple' was nice enough, but the portion was very small.
An amazing looking place especially from the professionally taken photographs of the food. I walked in expecting it to be a five star worthy restaurant only to be partially disappointed. While the food looked good, there were too many onions in my Veggie Brekkie. The dish could have tasted better as the ingredients didn't really blend well and seemed isolated. My friend's bacon didn't taste good either. 3.5 Star I think for the food. However, the place and website looked good.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service with excellent pricing. Definitely recommend.
Brilliant! Had a lovely experience here, food was outstanding & presentation was spot on. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend.
I expected a bigger selection of pancakes/waffles. Given the name of the place. Very friendly attentive staff. We arrived early when hotel guests were also enjoying a breakfast buffet. Which didn’t really add to the atmosphere.
Service was quite slow and seemed quite frantic but it was polite
Food quality was good, but very small portions (some mains felt like starters (and for £12.50 felt slightly robbed). Atmosphere felt like you were waiting in a hotel/airport lounge, clean but slightly soulless. There were some nicer sofa table sections at the back which we asked to sit at, but were told they were reserved...and by the time we left they were still unclaimed. Service was slow but friendly.
Took wrong order Food is simple and still could not get it right, burnt pancakes One meal came out without everything that was described on the menu Overall very poor
Thoroughly enjoyable breakfast and first experience. Would definitely recommend and return!
Was extremely happy with the quality of food and service here - great brunch selection! Very glad you do brunch until 4pm.
