About Buttermilk and Maple
Buttermilk & Maple
Buttermilk and Maple is located on the famous Welsh Back waterfront, close to the historical Bristol Bridge that gave life to the city.
For centuries the bridge was the only crossing of the Avon for miles around. As Bristol spread to the southern bank of the river, the bridge joined the two halves of the city. A Georgian bridge toll caused outrage and led to Bristol’s bloodiest riot.
Relax history is the past! Buttermilk and Maple is the perfect place to meet with colleagues, catch-up with friends, share precious moments with family or just to be on your own chilling out, we have free Wi-Fi and plenty of power sockets near tables to keep you connected all day.
We serve great food from an early buffet breakfast, trendy brunch, light lunch… or not, afternoon tea and dinner that you can enjoy in a very laid back atmosphere. Don’t forget to order the pancakes!
Our team will also be delighted to guide you on a journey through our bar discovering wines, craft beers, gins, whiskeys and other spirits which combined together will create our fantastic Welsh Back themed cocktails .
We also have meeting rooms and a mezzanine for special events.
Just pop in, contact us …… and follow us on social media to keep in touch and see what’s happening every day!!!
Had a wowcher but the gentleman who was front of house on 18th Jan was amazing... he was so polite and accommodating really relaxed and made us feel very welcome. Food was nice but without the wowcher I'm not sure on value for money.
Friendly attentive service. Food was piping hot, quick and delicious with good portion sizes.
Lovely staff and food!
Unfortunately, a really poor evening. We waited over 15 minutes for our drinks order even to be taken. Once we had found someone to take our order, our mains arrived after 30 minutes, the steak cold, and my salmon was really surprisingly small (and I dont have an enormous appetite but for £14 I felt this was a real rip off). Really disappointing evening.
Booked as a birthday brunch treat but very disappointing! My eggs Benedict was stone cold with rock hard eggs! The waiter apologised and got the kitchen to remake but my mother had to eat her meal alone while mine was remade. Not a great experience especially as the restaurant was particularly empty!
Lovely, friendly staff, good food, nice setting
Very nice food and the service was great. Nice place
Lovely place. Friendly staff, and really went that extra mile for my sisters birthday
Staff were friendly and fast. Although our reserved table went to someone else as we were late on arrival, we were offered a table just as good and had plenty of room for all. Relaxed atmosphere, great to catch up with friends with some excellent food and drink.
Everything was great, we will definitely be back.
We met for a family brunch an had an amazing time. Food and drink were fantasic and staff where very kind and helpful. All in all we could not have asked for a nicer experience.
Really nice but expected better
Exceptional brunch spot. I took a bunch of friends here that were on a weekend break from Newcastle. In such a great location, I decided on Buttermilk and Maple. Easy online resevation, flexible staff, as we arrived late for our booking. All slightly fragile from the weekend, we had coffees and brunch. Iced coffees were particularly nice, as was the different choices of food, including pancakes, chicken dish with avo, eggy bread and the full english. My only criticism is that portions werent huge. Plenty for me with the fried chicken dish but the couple that had eggy bread left wanting more.
Great location, good food. We were a group booking, thoroughly enjoyed.
Lovely food, great service, would definitely go again
Calm atmosphere, friendly staff, clean, good quality food.
Lovely friendly staff, prompt service and the food was delicious.
We went here for a Hen do and the staff were enormously accommodating. They even offered the bride to be a free bottle of prosecco for the table. Good prices and the location right by the water and the high ceilings made for a very lovely open and light feel to our lunch.
It was potentially the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. The waitress who looked after us clearly had no people skills and was very rude and then when it came to the food we were waiting for over an hour and it was absolutely awful. Would never go again.
Service was really slow, thankfully the restaurant took 25% off the bill before we had to ask which was appreciated. Food was good when it arrived but it was too long to wait for pancakes and avocado on toast!
Absolutely awful experience! We had specifically booked for a 'Sunday Roast' a couple of weeks before the date of our lunch. When we go there we were told they had stopped serving Sunday Roasts the week before our booking, we weren't informed of this. Then, prior to our table booking on the day, we rang the restaurant 15 times to ask if we could change the time of the table from 1pm to 1:30pm. As we didn't get a response at all, we managed to make the table for the original time of 1pm. When we arrived, we questioned this to the member of waiting staff who greeted us and her response was 'oh well we were probably busy'......no apology, nothing!!! We were sat down at our table after realising that the roast menu was unavailable but because of the lack of respect towards us, we decided to leave. The rest of the party left to go onto the next place but I waited so i could inform a member of staff that we were leaving. I was stood at the front desk waiting to speak to somebody and 3 members of staff walked past but avoided eye contact with me and no one came over. In the end i just left!! Disgustingly disappointing. We will never go back, not even for the bar.
Atmosphere was good, food lovely. Staff not very approachable, borderline rude and food service very slow considering it wasn't overly busy.
Chefs need to learn how to cook a poached egg rather than a hard boiled egg..
Lovely brunch. Great atmosphere. Delicious cocktails. Good service.
