Brel Has Changed
A new look, a new menu but everything you loved left exactly as is.
A magical new garden, a cosy new conservatory stove, amazing new dishes and some of the old favourites...
Welcome to Ashton Lane's most magical venue.
What a find! Fantastic in every way. New absolute favourite
Short staffed the night we were in but AMBER who was moved from another restaurant to help out was amazing.
Service was excellent
Sorry, not very good. Seated at conservatory door that everyone was using to come and go into the garden. Not all choices on menu were available. My main meal of sea bass was acceptable, however my partners vegetarian option of sweet potato peanut curry was missing the main ingredient. Two small cubes of sweet potato was not great. Considering this was a gift, it spoiled our experience, and disappointing to think our family had paid for this. When asked if we enjoyed it. My partner told Declan it was not very good. He gave us our itison voucher back and told us to book another meal as he didn't want us to leave disappointed. This was very thoughtful. Although we have not booked another visit.
Booked the fire pit for 8pm and it wasn’t ready. Didn’t know which member of staff to speak too, quite frankly it looked you had forgotten. Had to wait 20 mins before I went to another member of staff who then said “ready whenever you are”, we were ready at 8pm. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the £90+.
My sister bought me a voucher for my birthday and I booked a table for last Saturday. Unfortunately I was not aware that the voucher was not valid for a Saturday, and was refused the use of it. To say the staff were sympathetic is an understatement, both on our arrival reception and throughout our time in the establishment. We were both very disappointed and will not be back.
Excellent in every respect -what a find!
The fondue was amazing, staff friendly. Will definitely be back
First visit to Brel, we shared the fondue between 4 and it was delicious. Perfect amount of veg and meat with lots of bread. Only downside was the service. It was really poor. We were at a table in the corner and genuinely felt forgotten about. It took 45minutes+ for anyone to take our order for a drink and food. Would definitely recommend it and be back for the delicious food.
Delicious food. Seabass and mussels were amazing
Very good dining experience.
Highly recommend. We were recommended by a friend and loved it. Great selection of food and drinks and good sized portions. Venue is pretty funky too. Staff were attentive but not in your face. Would definitely come back next time we are in Glasgow.
The set-up was conducive to a relaxing time. However, the service was brisk and we felt rushed. There was little real customer service and interaction between staff and our party. No time for any pleasant chat as staff rushed to take orders. When glasses were delivered with bottled beer and water they were dirty - not on one or two occasions but more. No real apology or excuse was offered but simply 'I'll get you another'. Not acceptable. On the food side of things, the food was good and enjoyable. The toilets (particularly Ladies) were filthy. There was a general poor standard of cleanlieness - dust on lights and cobwebs hanging from lights and fingerprints on the tv on the wall near our table, sticky table.
we where arriving little bit later then we had the reservation but the table was still ready for us and they treat us like kings i guess this is the only way to make from a good restaurant a really awesome place.
Fantastic service, delicious food. Be back soon.
Burgers and bread with sweet potato curry were burnt and inedible and we sent them back. Chef apologetic but it spoiled the meal. Nothing offered to make up for it. Waitress wasn’t very friendly. My friends and I spent five days in Glasgow and this was the only poor dining experience we had. Won’t be visiting Brel again.
Hi I wasn't planning on writing a review, but thought I should since I was disappointed with my visit and not what I expected. First thing the food was not a good standard, I ordered the beef burger and the patty reminded me of those Iceland frozen grill burgers it looked grey and the grill parts just tasted burnt. The person I was with has the Mac and cheese and said they were disappointed in it and in my opinion looked like it was a microwave meal. Second the service was slow, we waited 45 mins to get our food, which is surprising as there wasn't that much people. In fairness the waitress did apologies for the wait, but it was alot longer than expected. Third the atmosphere, it was Saturday afternoon / night and was sunny, so I was expecting a few drunk people. However, there was one Ned in a full black tracksuit who punched someone at the smokers area and ran out shouting "say that to me outside" to another person. Bouncers where no where in sight at this, as they were busy throwing out another guy from a different group for the second time after he jumped the fence to get back in. I always thought this was a nice place but after last Saturday it seems more like Campus in Glasgow sauchihall street, than a nice bar in the westend. My advice to management would be stop letting groups of Bams in and also invest in the food, the worst thing a restaurant can do is cut costs in the food. I won't be back back as there are superior bars in the surrounding area. Definitely not a place to go with the family or girlfriend.
Can’t say I love it anymore. The food isn’t as good as it used to be but the real downfall was the service. It was really poor, massively understaffed. And that’s not mentioning the fact our table was turned into a doorway to the garden - people spilling their beer over you as you have your lunch, not at all pleasant.
Lovely food + atmosphere, especially the dark chocolate fondue!
I was really looking forward to a burger! However, apparently there was garlic in the burger mix so I couldn't have it, garlic makes me very sick! Would be nice if there was a few dishes that didn't contain garlic. I opted for the chicken burger, delicious, however I was really sick later! I suspect there was garlic present. Staff were lovely. Restaurant rather cold.
Great place! Loved the quirky layout. Menu was fab, lots of choice. Food was delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere although you could see the staff were super busy but on top of things. No hesitation in recommending.
Great food as always. Mussels were amazing! Good service even though it was a busy night.
disappointing, previously very good, menu same for a long time. slow service, food bland compared to previous
Amazing mussels deal! 2 wine and dine for £22... yes please!
