Came here for our Office Christmas Party. Excellent Food , Warm and Welcoming, Friendly Staff very Tall Tree!! Looks Amazing.. What a beautiful Place. We will be back soon, Thank you !!
Lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. We had the afternoon tea and that was fantastic.
We celebrated our works christmas get-together by booking your festive afternoon tea but there were a few points we thought could be improved on. Although the front section of the bar had lovely decorations and a tree there was nothing in the section in which we were sat to indicate that it was a christmas party! I had asked on booking if there would be christmas crackers on the table and was told there would be (if not I was going to bring some myself), but when we arrived there were no crackers. Although most of the table arrived at around 3 o clock there were no drinks served until almost half past 3. Although most of the food on the afternoon tea was ok, both the scone and the gingerbread man (which was advertised as a stocking on the menu) were very dry - possibly they were not very fresh?
We came for the Bottomless Prosecco Afternoon Tea and couldn't fault it. Food was lovely and there was plenty of it, and our host Simon was brilliant. He was really friendly and attentive throughout. Would recommend!
I only marked down the atmosphere rating because we were the only customers on a Sunday evening. The good was fabulous and the service friendly and efficient.
Lovely afternoon tea went during the day so was a bit quiet. Couldn't fault the service or food but the scone was a bit on the small side not what I would call a scone. Dont let this put you off as whole experience was lovely.
What a little gem . The food was excellent my friend an I had Sunday lunch 2 courses could not fault definitely will be returning. Staff welcoming and friendly attentive but not intrusive. 5 star service. Thank you.
A great venue. Very friendly and helpful staff. Just love the place.
Very pleasant meal with our excellent waiter Simon.
The chef came to our table with our afternoon tea and took the time to explain what was in front of us, she also came back to check if we were alright and had everything we needed, The other staff were also extremely helpful and very pleasant, we look forward to visiting again.
The lady who was serving us throughout the afternoon could not do enough for us, absolutely fantastic service.
Scored 4* for atmosphere because the restaurant was quiet. However people were certainly missing a treat!!! The food was fantastic and cooked to a very high standard. The cocktails and wine also went down very well. Staff were very attentive. We will definitely be back !!
Very nice & lovely place
Will definitely return, food, service & atmosphere excellent, A*
Great food beautifully presented good value
No extra comments necessary
Little or no atmosphere even when the place filled up. We waited a long time for our nibbles and were told that our starters were ready, did we want them all at the same time. No, the nibbles were meant to go with our drinks. My wife's fish cakes had no fish and was basically just mashed potato. Overall, very disappointing.
great night thanks
Very attentive staff and delicious food , we shall definitely return!
Myself and 5 friends enjoyed a 3 course evening meal. The food was superb and the service was exceptional.
Everything was wonderful, especially the restaurant, the food and the staff.
I informed the booking team that we had a vegan at our baby shower for afternoon tea in advance. However, it was apparent that this had not been communicated in advance and my friend was offered quite dry sandwiches with a minimal amount of filling, sorbet and salad. This was not charged for in the end but it did put a dampener on the evening. Also, there are numerous prices for afternoon tea in your site. Under ‘Babyshower’ tab, it says it is £18.85 with a glass of prosecco on arrival. At the end we were charged £23.95 . Again, this was sorted after much discussion but it still caused some inconvenience. The staff were wonderfully attentive and couldn’t do enough. The food was lovely and the chefs obviously talented but there was no communications If such a thing happens again, I would recommend admitting that the vegan has no real afternoon tea and just offering some alternative meal for them.
Absolutely amazing service and food, we managed to have a private dining due to other guests eating out which was great for us. Will definitely be returning
We have just returned from a wonderful two day stay with you and have eaten in the restaurant both days for breakfast and a three course evening meal. The meal on both evenings was wonderful and the lamb we had was the best we have ever had - even better than the lamb we had at The Ritz! We could not fault anything and the staff were so helpful and courteous. We shall definitely be returning not only to enjoy more of Chester but to stay and eat again at the Townhouse Hotel and Brasserie 1699.
We were very disappointed. Offered lots of water and tea but not any re-fill on prosecco which was supposed 'to be flowing'. We had won the experience from an auction at the Mayors dinner and were looking forward to a special and memorable occasion. The sandwiches were uninspired: tuna, egg, cheese and pickle, cheese spread and chicken.
