About Brasserie at Sopwell House Hotel
The Brasserie at Sopwell House boasts a vibrant, open plan kitchen serving delicious classic dishes, beautifully prepared by our talented Chefs. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served a la carte with daily specials available.
The Kitchens closed barbecue Mibrasa oven is perfect for the grilled fish and steaks on offer.
Dinner is served à la carte - ideal for a Saturday night feast with friends, family celebration, a relaxing breakfast or a working lunch with clients or colleagues.
At the dinner, table wasn't ready when we arrived. No prosecco was offered (even though it was in the package). Lastly, the waiter forgot to put through my 2nd mojito order. On the other hand, spa treatments were excellent.
Food and drink was amazing. Staff were very friendly. Also bought out a little cake for my daughters 16 birthday. A lovely surprise.
I booked the Spa Day which included lunch at La Brasserie. I can’t offer an opinion about their full menu as we had a 3 course menu already arranged, so my feedback is based on this: - Tomato soup portion was very small. - Bento box felt like we were eating at the Canteen. - Strawberry cake tasted very artifical. I expected a much more elaborated menu from a Restaurant at Sopwell House. The Afternoon Tea and the Spa there are great, but unfortunately not its Restaurant for lunch.
Staff were a bit rude and abrupt. Tables were sticky, had to ask for seats to be cleaned. There were dead flies on the window sills. Overall given the pandemic would have expected more!
Only issue was in regards to our AC in our room not blowing enough cold air (tbh no cold air). Reported it 3 times, twice face to face, but no one came to sort it out. The room was way to warm, especially being one of the hottest day of the year.
Food was great as always, service was a little disappointing this time around. Food and drinks took extremely long to come, wrong drinks brought out or forgotten completely, no cutlery, open sachets left on the table from previous customers. When we went back for breakfast the following morning, we were given the same table and some food that had obviously dropped on the floor the night before was still there. I am unsure if the gentleman serving us most of the time was new which is why he kept messing up orders and forgetting things or just not serving us at all, we were served breakfast by some other ladies who were delightful, quick and knew what they were doing. Unfortunately the bad service didn't go unnoticed by the group of friends I took here as a treat and I was really disappointed.
Lovely food and a nice atmosphere.
The food was good but after getting our afternoon tea and drinks we were completely ignored for the rest of our afternoon. We weren’t offered any sandwich refills or any more tea. Quite disappointing as we’ve been many times before and always had great service. I don’t know if was because we were having tea as part of a spa afternoon. We were the only people in the pantry and I think the staff just forget we were there.
I have emailed the managers PA as I had an extremely dessapointing experience
It would be better if drinks were charged to our card as it was annoying having to retrieve payment for drinks in the middle of our day when we were also going to have more possibly. Drinking water should be available in the pool area. Massage was amazing felt like it lasted two hours instead of one. Would have liked nibbles available in the sitting room before spa treatment too.
My Daughter and I had a lovely day at sopwell house we would certainly recommend it to everyone
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The covid bento box idea was great & plenty of food. Drinks were a bit pricey. Rhubarb cheesecake didn’t taste of rhubarbs.
Terrible food and service would never recommend.
Really pleasant and mannersable staff. Very enthusiastic waitress, I think she said she was new but she was particularly pleasant and obviously an asset to the team. In light of everything thats happening its quite difficult to convey enthusiasm and friendliness through mask but all the staff did this very well in particular the lady aforementioned.
Very good We wanted to eat outside which we did but more tables need shade.
There’s only one word to describe our experience at Sopwell House Brasserie...dire! Avoid at all costs would my only advise. Now I understand times are hard and the venue is clearly trying to recoup costs anyway it can, but that is no excuse for the completely bizarre and appauling food that we were served. We were staying for 3 days and had lunch and dinner included each day as part of our package. Let’s start with lunch - a bizarre bento box that you would think would contain Japanese food - wrong! Sopwell’s take on the bento box includes three cold and stale salads, one featuring stale bread and left overs from the night before, alongside a mystery meat of your choice. My husband selected lamb - clearly yesterday’s Sunday dinner menu leftovers - which was served with gravy. Yep that’s right, salad, lamb and gravy! I decided to for the tomato gnocchi, which resembled Heinz Baked Beans tomato sauce. Just the kind of yummy meal you’re after when you’ve paid £1,200 for a luxury stay! Much of the same food repeated itself over the next couple of days, in fact it was the exact same menu and the exact same soup to start everyday, so we decided to opt for the other starter option - bread and butter. Exciting stuff! When it came to our evening meal we were so sick of the place we opted for room service in our room. To be fair to the restaurant, the breakfasts were delicious and lots of choice. Just wish I could say the same about the rest of it!
Pleasant staff, with good atmosphere and good food. Lovely evening!
Attentive service and delicious food. Excellent organisation to ensure everyone is safe
Attentive staff, well cooked main course but limited menu in Brasserie.
The food was lovely but was disappointed that it was not clear on the menu that the sharing platter was a set dish. My son and his two cousins were advised that they could pick three dishes to be on the platter.I was therefore changed for three starters plus the platter. This needs to be made clearer! I understand that we couldn’t sit on one table but was surprised when we were served our main meals at the same time as they received their starters [ we didn’t have starters) It then appeared that they had forgotten that they hadn’t had their main meals as it was some considerable time before these appeared.
Had a wonderful evening with friends celebrating my birthday last night sitting outside on the beautiful terrace enjoying our first meal in a restaurant after we were allowed out from lock down. The evening certainly didn’t disappoint, the service was great we had a very attentive waiter serving our food and all done under the new current rules for covid!!!! The food was good our only complaint was that a bottle of ordinary Prosecco was £42 rather exorbitant!!! We thought. Didn’t spoil the evening.
The staff were brilliant - very attentive. Lovely setting and fanastic steak!
Dinner was great, the servers were friendly and efficient. The food and cocktails were amazing!
Everything was wonderful except for the price of a glass of wine, which was really really expensive.
This was the first time going out for a meal in over 4 months. It was safe, professional, great service, as a health and food safety manager i trust them to do it right, they did that and much more. Welcome back, you was missed
