My starter, the duck salad was poor. Grey meat that had clearly come straight out of the fridge. The main course of pork belly was nice though. At lunchtime, I waited for 50 minutes for a burger meaning I was then rushing to get to my tee time. Not great.
Excellent value for money. We could have as much tea to drink as we wished. Staff were friendly. Food was good value.
Very good value with fresh, varied and tasty food and very attentive staff. Thank you
Absolutely love spa days here, massage was incredible , afternoon tea was really nice, only thing that I would complain about is waiting until 2.15 for afternoon tea to come out after it was ordered for 1.45 and we were starving! However didn’t really ruin the day was just the only bad thing .
Lovely afternoon tea the food was fab and plenty of it . It was lovely as the sun was shining so we able to sit outside in the beautiful grounds x
Lovely afternoon on Mother's Day Weekend
Easy to book. Value for money. Excellent service from Wayne very attentive.
Thank you for a lovely ecening
Food and drink lovely can't complain re food. Receptionist Abbie lovely and helpful ! Found the bar to be pleasant atmosphere. Room nice However there were a few major let downs. Waited 35 mins in resteraunt at dinner to be asked for a drink then order. Then had to chase the water we asked for not great. It seemed under staffed. Disappointed you didn't get a robe for the spa this is standard in most places. Cancelled treatment due to having to walk to a room with no robe just a towel in front of a golf store! Terrible service from the staff on spa. Once on booking and 2nd when we asked for robes she said sorry they're in the wash and packages only. Shame as its a lovely venue.
Lovely Afternoon Tea in the Terrace bar, very friendly and attentive lady behind the bar
First time I've been here.. We had fish and chips. The fish was a bit like I have in my freezer. Wasn't impressed at all. We were almost charged too much too as the till price was showing £12.95 but actually was £10.95...expensive and don't think we would return.
Much improved since my last visit but please ensure there are enough pigs in blankets to last the whole lunchtime and always ensure plates are hot.
Really enjoyed my stay. Staff couldn't do enough to help and the food was excellent.
Lovely stay with our niece and nephew. Any issues we had (minor) were dealt with immediately! We were disappointed that the hotels health and safety policy meant we were unable to upgrade to the Penthouse room, think this could possibly be reviewed pending age of children! Other than that- thanks for a lovely stay!
Staff very nice and helpful. Room needed up dating ,pelmet broken, carpet, and chairs/ settee stained .wardrobe rickety not enough hangs only 2.shower screen dirty.bubble gum on back top of settee.breakfast ordinary and evening meal lovely .
Blind in room didn’t work
Members of staff all very friendly and helpful, especially receptionist. Pool good, lockers a bit hard to operate! Food was all good although breakfast wasn’t that hot. We booked the Cadbury weekend, would be helpful if email reminders/confirmation showed that as each email I got I emailed to make sure it included the tickets as it didn’t show it on there. My son wasn’t included on the email either. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return.
Coffee was cold and the staff were stretched so the service was slow. We had afternoon tea which was very average.
Overall very disappointing. The same serving spoon had to be used for condiments and vegetables. The yorkshire puddings were inedible. We were told the meat selection was Beef, Pork and Gammon, it was actually Beef, Turkey and Gammon. When asked if the meat was outdoor reared, there was a shrug of the shoulders, followed by 'No idea'. The gas heater keeping the hot pudding and custard had gone out, so they were cold. The dessert selection looked like it hadn't been tidied since the start of service. The cheese on the cheese board had dried and gone hard. Drinks were placed between the cutlery on the table, so on returning to the table, you first had to move your drinks before you could put your plate down.
Hotel was not able to cope with number of people they had booked in for the weekend. At evening meal they had run out of many options for wine, at breakfast it was chaos as two many people not enough table, running out of food and cutlery very quickly. The staff worked very hard but put under extreme pressure by the poor organisation of the management team
We've been to the carvery before but this weekend there was a smaller selection of starters and vegetables with the mains. Quality of the food was fine, but...
We were not advised that there was refurbishment taking place and that the bar was closed. The only bar was at other end of the building and stank of chlorine from the pool. As to the food itself the main course was fine but the fish cake seemed like it had been pre heated I cannot however fault the staff but there should have been a price reduction for the lack of facilities
Great staff, friendly accommodating and really went out the way for us
We ended up being seated in the bar rather than the restaurant and it seemed like the bar were not prepared at all. As it was the bar area there was no table service so we had to go up to ask for more tea, no one came to check. And when we did ask, it took 15 mins to come over and then take the tea pots to be refilled. The food itself was nice enough, but I would point out that even though this was for 3 people, there weren’t 3 of all the cakes which seemed a bit disappointing.
Lovely Sunday lunch as always, but service and general atmosphere was virtually non-existent. Hotel is being refurbished so maybe this was why, but no one around in the makeshift reception area or at the bar, nor anyone to seat us at our table so we just walked in and found it ourselves. Table only cleared after we had stacked everything ourselves. Was also charged for coffee after lunch, which has always been included (have been coming for Sunday lunch for the last 4 years). Will return after the refurb is completed and service and atmosphere is back to normal.
