The meal was excellent and staff friendly. The only downside being that we were charged for a meal that we had pre paid. The Maître D advised he would address this for us, but on checking out the meal price was included with the final bill which caused a delay to check out
I think more variety should be offered in the sandwiches, their wasn’t enough sandwiches either! The cakes should be like Victoria sponge, chocolate cake...I mean if your paying for a cream tea!? You want more cakes with cream? And one scone isn’t enough. Other places offer two different flavored scones per person.
I requested no nuts on the booking form and it was reiterated by the waiter we would have the ‘nut free’ option. We were presented with a cake which had coconut shavings on the top of it (they looked like white chocolate) luckily my partner ate his first so was able to warn me. Very disappointed!
We asked for some tap water along with our wine as one of our party only drinks water. It tasted awful - like cleaning fluid so the waitress offered us a bottle of sparkling water which we expected to be complimentary. Unfortunately we were charged £2.50! Not good customer relations. Also nowhere does it say you can’t pay by cash - good job we had cards on us of we would have been washing up!
I wish I could show you the picture of my son waiting for his child's pudding at 10.30 in an empty restaurant! Good food let down by extremely poor service.
Lovely afternoon tea.scones were delicious and cakes as well.
Great service food was okay When we went there was a few parties held which meant at times it got abit too loud
I had a groupon deal and was happy with the Groupon price we paid, I would have been disappointed if we had to pay full value as I thought afternoon tea was ok and nothing special. Disappointed with the scones and I wished there was an option for plain scones. Atmosphere was quiet but that was fine as catching up with friends. Surprising as the place itself was lovely.
I was very impressed with the service , my very grateful to the attention you paid to my friend especially the balloons
I had booked afternoon tea for my mother and her sisters. I must say the young waitress who was looking after us, was wonderful. As my mum and one of my aunties, are vegetarians ( she catered for them) which to me was superb. As not everyone is kind enough to change things around....so we as a family highly recommend the Hilton's Afternoon tea.
It was a very quiet afternoon so no 'atmosphere' as such. The sandwiches were really fresh and the cakes varied. The scones were really delicious. The staff were prompt and friendly. I went with my mother, we really enjoyed it.Plenty of food for two and my tea was refilled a number of times.
Staff were not very friendly or professional and we were told at 5pm that they needed to set up for dinner despite being seated there . Food was dry and not ideal. No further drink or help offered. Terrible service .
Delicious food. Good service too. Had a taste card so got a good discount
I booked this as a surprise for my wife for our 34th Wedding Anniversary and having previously done 50+ afternoon teas we really do know what it should be like. This was beyond doubt the worst food that we have ever encountered at an Afternoon Tea! Firstly the sandwiches were completely dry and stale on the top and edges, the waitress did apologise for their unacceptable condition and spoke to the kitchen who made fresh ones but they were only average. However, the worst part was the scone, although to call it that would be an insult to all scone makers across the country, it was massively over cooked and so rock hard & brown on the outside and dry as a bone on the inside, and thus totally inedible. Looking around at the other tables I could see mounds of brown lumps on everybody’s plates and so ours was clearly not any different to theirs. It must have made the waitresses jobs very challenging because they must have been able to see there was an issue but unable to bring anything else out other than what was produced by the kitchen, On a positive note, the serving staff were very pleasant and attentive but I can only advise people to go somewhere else!
Paid for a sparkling afternoon tea but were not offered the wine we had to ask for it. Sandwiches not very exciting and not enough would preferred fewer cakes and more sandwiches
We had a lovely afternoon tea, and are waitress was super attentive
On arrival we were told we had ordered already which wasn't the case. This gave us little choice, however I ordered a bloomer ham & mustard sandwich. It wasn't in bloomer bread just basic wholemeal and there was no mustard. There were building works going on but we managed to blank that out. The fire alarm was a little harder to ignore unless you were a member of staff. They didn't advise us what to do and I asked. We were told to remain. The bill was completely wrong only £25 which was just for the puddings. We commented that the mains were not accounted for and asked for a new bill. We were in a hurry to return to work and the bill took quite a while for them to resolve. The restaurant lacked any atmosphere and the service wasn't great. All in all I wouldn't return.
Booked for sparkling afternoon tea but was not told previously of building work and was expected to sit through drilling and banging right near the table. Went to a table outside and had to wait a while for it to be cleared, also it was never wiped over. Service was slow and when the tea/sandwiches/cakes arrived had to then wait ages for cutlery and crockery. The sparkling drink arrived right near the end. Not once was there an apology for any of the problems! SERVICE and ATMOSPHERE thoroughly let this experience down.
lovely time having afternoon tea- would come again
Disappointed that only the scones were home made, none of the other cakes. Didn't even bother to take the tin foil off the cherry bakewells. Also, a large group arrived on a coach for dinner and the host of the group thought it was acceptable to have a microphone and talk to them in German the whole time we were trying to enjoy our afternoon Tea. Service was good from the waitresses.
Shame about the phone call 2 hours before we were due to show up asking us if we would come half an hour later as they were busy! Service a bit slow because they were busy but food quality good
We stopped for brunch returning from a stay in Bournemouth the staff were pleasant and accommodating the food was hot and appetising the atmosphere calm and relaxed. A very pleasant break.
Afternoon tea: sandwich filling was very good but some of the bread was dry and so were the scones. In fact the scones were the worst ones we had anywhere and barely edible. We asked for a second coffee and eventually, after waiting patiently for quite a while, had to ask another member of staff as the first one we asked was gone for a considerable time.
We had a great afternoon tea. It was lovely and the staff were great
Really nice service, will go back again.
