We went during the COVID restrictions just before Christmas, so it was quiet, so difficult to comment on the atmosphere. The chap that served us was pleasant enough. The food left a lot to be desired. We went for afternoon tea. I don't like to say it, but the afternoon tea was quite poor. It looked like they had just opened a packet of cakes and put them on the plate. Two of the cakes were definitely Mr Kipling cakes. Nothing seemed freshly made. Maybe the scones were, they were quite nice. I rang on the way to see if I could change some of the sandwich flavours (for the children), but the chef wasn't in, so this wasn't possible. I wouldn't rush to go back. This was a gift so very disappointing. I only gave stars for value for money as a Groupon deal, had we paid full price it would have been one star.
Sandwiches were very cold, chilled almost, scones were hard. Would have appreciated hot water to top up teapot's as ran out of tea very quickly. Im glad I got a Groupon deal as the experience was definitely not worth the money. Quite disappointing as it was a birthday treat for my mum.
Excellent clean hotel
We enjoyed our afternoon tea and the service was very good.
Very good value for money. Will book again when life is back to normal
We had a fantastic prosecco afternoon tea, the service was fantastic and food was incredible!
I do not like egg sandwiches and explained this when booking. The message was passed on by Lorna and we had a tasty replacement. Our sparkly waiter was lovely, the tea kept coming and we relaxed and really enjoyed our afternoon tea.
The fingers sandwiches were so small and only 2 each. Cakes were very goey and scones were so plain, have been before and were disappointed this time.
It was what we expected for a groupon deal, we have been before. It’s a shame there was no atmosphere but under these circumstances I understand why. I was very impressed with the social distancing and care taken to protect the public. Thank you
The food was lovely and the service was brilliant and very welcoming.
Member of staff was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Food lovely and service great
Lovely setting which we have now visited a number of times. I would highly recommend a visit.
The service was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea. We took our two younger daughters & they catered to their needs by giving cheese & ham sandwiches, which we didn’t ask for, but was absolutely perfect. So nice & thoughtful. Was very impressed. Thankyou to all the staff. Definitely shall be returning.
Really disappointed with the afternoon tea we had on Saturday 10th October. It was a celebration for my 40th birthday but nothing about it felt special. The service was poor from arrival to us leaving and the food and drink was basic.
Lovely afternoon tea with my mother in law.made very welcome .the waiter was very accommodating and funny.loved his striped suit!woukd definitely come back again
A really disappointing visit I appreciate things are difficult with COVID however once seated we waited for ages to be asked what we would like to drink, there was only us and one other table. Once the food was delivered we never saw anyone again, no one checked, even from a distance, if everything was ok (the scones were dry) did we need anything etc - we left. This is the second time (not both during covid times) I have had a bad experience having an afternoon tea here I shan’t be visiting again
Wonderful time and could not speak highly enough about Jake who looked after us thanks Sandwiches and cakes and scones well presented
A very nice tea.
Better choice of sandwiches in better quality bread.
Difficult times so no atmosphere. 1st lot of tea was luke warm, 2nd was hot. weren't asked at anytime by waiter if everything to our satisfaction. Did not acknowledge us on leaving. Receptionists warm, helpful and welcoming. The tea was a gift so cannot comment on value for money.
Excellent afternoon tea plus friendly staff.
This was the worst afternoon tea I have ever experienced. Service awful tea awful scones stale. Not enough cleaning for coronavirus. Not even worth one star. Had to fill it in to submit form
Although I appreciate the current Covid situation, there was no atmosphere as we were the only people in the restaurant. The tea was rather meagre for the price. Even with Groupon deal. No assorted teas as on previous occasions. Only one fruit scone each. We asked to have the Prosecco at the end of our meal but when we were ready we waited around 15 minutes for a staff member to appear and then spent a good 5 minutes trying to attract their attention. Having said that the waitress who initially attended us was very pleasant and helpful. I would have been very unhappy if I had paid full price of £49
Very pleasant staff and delicious food, very enjoyable afternoon
Had a lovely afternoon tea with friends and family. Sandwiches and cakes were lovely, great service from staff especially Jake. Will definitely be going back.
