When I arrived there was confusion over the booking. In addition, despite attention from multiple waitresses - we were not asked if we wanted a drink - other than water. We were asked three times if we were ready to order even though we had just sat down. That said - the staff were very friendly. I would suggest they are given more training
Enjoyed our festive lunch, very relaxed and a lovely dining room. It set us up for a walk in the New Forest, a most enjoyable Sunday. Spied a few Teas going out that looked delicious and the burgers made our heads swivel. The staff where lovely and attentive. Would recommend Thank you
It would have been nice to have seen a menu. Nothing was offered and was unsure what was on offer until it was placed in front of us. |It would have been nice to have a choice of two starters and two desserts and two mains. Other than that we had a nice afternoon.
We had to ask twice for our hot drinks to be served and we had to ask for our afternoon tea to be brought out to us after waiting over 40 minutes. Tables who arrived after us received their food before we did and even after asking we still had to wait ages until it was brought to the table. This was purchased as a birthday present for my friend and the service was terrible .
Booked on Groupon voucher
Took my mum for her 80th birthday treat,t I have never been before, and it was really nice every member of staff couldn’t do enough for you they made the couple of hours we were there very enjoyable and I would definitely go back again.
Booked festive afternoon tea, service good out came cake stand not a festive thing in site no Xmas cake or mince pie,not even a sprig of imitation holly, pot of tea hot ,coffee lukewarm, and tiniest squares of rocky rd and carrot cake ever seen about 1.5inches square, shame as lovely hotel and staff
Wouldve liked something a bit christmassy on the afternoon tea..a mince pie? Sandwiches poor boring and tasteless couldve had the same from a supermarket packet. Scones were fab. 2 small cups of tea and not offered anymore. Servers very pleasant.
Food was a little let down but overall could recommend
Lovely afternoon tea, relaxed atmosphere and good service.
Very friendly staff and lovely food. I did tell them it was for a birthday and saw other tables had some balloons but we didn’t, might have been a nice touch! Beautiful hotel, would definitely return.
Had to ask for plates for our afternoon tea and teaspoons for our tea. I booked for 4 and the booking said 2 and it also had a dietry requirement on our booking which i hadn't requested
Excellent service, food well presented a very enjoyable lunch.
Service wasn’t great no one came to ask if we were ok or if we wanted any thing else or explained why the cakes were ... Also it would have been better to sit in the lounge area as more cosy as we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. Also the festive tea wasn’t festive in any way I could see. The last time I came the deal was much better, so would prob not come again.was just as well a Groupon offer as would not have been happy paying any more.
I had a Groupon Xmas dinner deal and it was really good value, tasty and well presented. I did think the wine was quite pricey at nearly £25 for a bottle but as I had only paid £20 for a 3 course meal for 2 I was happy to splash out on a bottle. I do not like xmas pudding so I asked if I could have ice cream instead. No problem! We did have really good service and I wanted to reward our server with a good tip and this is the only thing I am unsure of. I had already paid for the food and my bill was just for the wine which was £24.50 so I gave our waiter £33 and told him to keep the change. Another man then came over and gave us a new bill and 50p change. I said I didn't want the change and had wanted our waiter to get all the change. So he smiled and took back the 50p. I rather stupidly never looked at the new bill and threw it away. I later wondered if I had been charged an extra £8 for the ice cream and our poor waiter had only ended up with a 50p tip. I hope not!
Excellent value for money as we had a voucher. Willingly cooked something off the voucher deal due to my food allergies. Food could have been a bit hotter and needed more vegetables.
Lovely afternoon tea and great service
Lovely afternoon Amazing service
Lovely 3 course festive meal at a bargain price, courtesy of Groupon. We were a large group of 11 people and despite having booked (and also rung to check the booking) there was no record of us having a lunch reservation. This was quickly put right and a large table laid up but we didn't feel particularly welcome at first. The meal was very nice though - as were the staff.
We had a booking for 3 pm for afternoon tea and twice someone had to go desk and ask how long our food was going to be.... we didn’t get any tea/coffee until just gone 3.30 and the actual food until about 3.45... this booking was a special one for a 70th birthday so the delay did dull the experience a bit. The food though was very nice and we all enjoyed it and left very full! Maybe a couple more sandwiches and less cakes? That is only my opinion though! Having said this we would return for more afternoon tea!
Lovely afternoon tea. It was very busy with two events on at the same time making the hotel busy and noisy but we were sat away from any large groups which was great. Our only criticism would be the lack of tea selection. It was everyday tea or coffee in a mug rather than cup and saucer or choice of flavour but a very minor thing.
Excellent afternoon will be back.
Service was very slow, food was nice, tea was not very hot until we were brought our own teapots
Festive Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches - bread a little dry on the edges. One was wet due to tomato. Not much filling. Chocolate cake was also dry on one of the edges. Scones were dry also. Have had afternoon tea (regular) there before with no problems at all and that is why decided to revisit for friends birthday.
I don't usually leave reviews, but need to this time. Very attentive and personnel service, excellent throughout. For the price you pay on the deal the food is outstanding and presented very well. Well worth a go.
