Value for money great as booked through Groupon. Staff were sparse to say the least, although we had a lovely young man (very nervous, first job etc) who made the experience a nice one. We booked a Fizz afternoon tea for 2 and the young lad explained he was too young to serve the Prosecco but an elder employee spoke very curt to him which I thought was not appropriate. We had enough to eat although the food was a little dry
Service was good but quality of food was very bad. Sandwiches were not very good and scones were very dry. Would not come again. Food needs to be more fresh.
We really enjoyed our afternoon tea which was a gift for my husband’s birthday. Very good selection of food and the service was great thank you. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience.
We all enjoyed our afternoon tea and it was good value with the Groupon deal. Only slight negative was we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. However the service was great after that.
Tea satisfactory but sandwiches small and a little dry.
Very nice afternoon tea thank you. We had to ask for ‘top-up’ tea/coffees though..would have been nice to have been asked.
The cakes and scones were a bit stale.
I changed my booking but the staff done this for me although it was very last minute The waitress who was there when we arrived was exceptional and couldn’t do enough for us and lovely and friendly .
Excellent service from server- happy to help us. Food was good for the money spent but I got a discount and wouldn’t have paid full price for what we got. Food didn’t taste like anything special but was nice all the same. Was quite but a nice location.
Absolutely wonderful afternoon tea! Excellent value for money and we honestly could not believe the effort and attention the staff went too for my nans 98th birthday, thank you all SO much!
We love the Doubletree Hilton. We got married here in 2016 and love coming back as often as we can. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary with afternoon tea here aswell.
Unattentive staff. Lipstick on glass, asked for replacement. No apology just took glass and walked away. No offers for refill on tea or coffee. Not a staff member in sight when we were ready to leave. Won't be recommending to anyone!
I booked afternoon tea for my mothers birthday, not only did the staff go above and beyond by putting balloons and sparkles on the table, they also gave her a special birthday dessert it was lovely. Highly recommend
My granddaughter loved it. It was a surprise for her.
Thank for a lovely evening, taking the time to dress the table, and looking after us so well on our anniversary. So a big thank you to everyone
We had been previously and really enjoyed the experience this was a voucher given to us by our daughter. The visit on Saturday was a present from a friend's daughter. We arrived just before 3.00 and waited a few minutes before we were acknowledged by a member of staff. We were told to wait there and then after a few minutes a waiter arrived and showed us to our table then he disappeared and came back with cups and saucers then said I will get some teaspoons. When the teaspoons arrived he asked if we wanted tea or coffee. After about five minutes the tea arrived. It then took about 10 minutes for the afternoon tea to come by this time the tea was not that hot. There was no one around to ask for hot tea and to be honest the staff were not that friendly and I just wanted to get the whole experience over with. There was another function going on in a room behind us and they were quite loud. I bought a voucher for our son and daughter in law and they had a lovely experience.
I booked an afternoon tea for my daughters 16th birthday but we was very disappointed, I booked this through groupon but we was not asked what we would like and the portion size was very small. The quality of food was horrendous, dry and rock solid. We left within 25 minutes and went somewhere else to eat
Really enjoyable afternoon tea. Just a few points, one small pot of jam and cream between two looks really stingy! I think everyones cakes should be the same as when you look to the table next to you and they have something different, you get food envy and feel like you're missing out. The scones were really good!
The atmosphere was good, however service was a little slow and somewhat confusing with us having to prompt the waiters to offer tea, coffee & prosecco (it was a sparkling afternoon tea). When we finally received prosecco, for some reason we only received two rather than for the whole table and had to prompt again for the extra drinks. This was incredibly frustrating, as this afternoon tea had been a surprise for a 50th birthday (the balloon would have given this away) One of our party was vegetarian with a cheese allergy which was declared prior to the day. The waiting staff delivered the non-vegetarian food, explaining that the chef was still putting together the vegetarian plate. This was then delivered and was a plate of sandwiches full of cheese. I sent this back to the kitchen re-explaining the allergy. A while later the waiting staff came out obviously confused as to what you put in a sandwich for a vegetarian who cannot eat cheese - The vegetarian confirmed she could eat other dairy, just not cheese. We waited some time and then a new vegetarian plate came out which whilst didn't have cheese on, did have sandwiches featuring salmon! Fortunately we made a decision that there were enough sandwiches across the plates that our vegetarian could eat, but we were very confused that a restaurant such as this seemed unable to understand this dietary requirement and cater for it - We are only grateful that none of our party was vegan. We did have an enjoyable after getting past these issues, however I do not think we will be returning.
Very dry overcooked scone and had to ask for extra jam. Sandwiches were very cold, some crusts left on, not flavourful due to being cold. Had to find waitress to request more jam and then more tea. Compared to the grand cafe and the devere very poor quality. Would have been upset if I'd have paid full price and not a groupon deal. Won't be coming again.
Food and service was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful and the tea selection was just the right portion. Could swap all of the cakes for carrot cakes. Overall would definitely recommend
we had no choice of brown or white bread, the selection was not as good as we have had previously, the scones were dry
Amazing food all freshly made the scones were amazing but could of done with two per person and not one and very tight on Jam! Found it very odd that no one came to ask if we would like anymore tea or coffee and staff barely any staff to even ask for any more. Have to say tho we requested no chocolate for my mother in law and she was very impressed to have her own little plate of non chocolate desserts that thought went a long way so thank you for that.
I’m afraid we were very disappointed, staff were miserable, and when I asked what some of the cakes were I was told she didn’t know and didn’t offer to find out, no one told us what the sandwiches were or the cakes. We were left the whole 2hrs without being asked if we needed anything or if we were ok. The cakes were boring and very tiny and the sandwiches boring. We wouldn’t be recommending or wanting to rush back there.
Staff very un attentive, one individual jam pot between two, cakes very small and un interesting
