About Brace & Browns
Since we opened our doors in April 2011 we have been receiving rave reviews as a destination venue in Bristol. With a warm and friendly atmosphere our intimate restaurant area offers a relaxed and inviting dining experience. Enjoy an innovative and quirky take on tapas with a focus firmly on British dishes with locally sourced ingredients.
Very friendly wait staff and amazing sangria!
The food and drinks were great but the service was really poor. Sat us on the wrong table at first and then we didn’t get any drinks for 30 mins whilst we arrived. When food arrived we were waiting for cutlery for a while which the waiter had obviously forgotten to give us. Another colleague didn’t believe we had booked when we were sat on the wrong table and then quite rudely asked me “what my number was” to confirm we hadn’t just walked in. There are much better ways to confirm with someone about their reservation. The atmosphere was great though and I understand it’s a busy time with re-opening after COVID but definitely could have improved the service a lot.
Staff were super lovely and made us feel safe within the restaurant the whole time with covid guidelines etc, unfortunately the drinks weren’t amazing value for money, being quite small and tasting almost mouldy. The food was nice but not much too it so a tad overpriced for the meals we ordered.
We were looking forward to returning however the food quality was really not like it used to be. The mozzarella starter was blend and nothing special unfortunately. The beef roast was a real let down! The beef itself was nicely cooked and the cauliflower cheese was nice but everything else was bad. I’ve never seen such a thin gravy in my life, it looked like pure meat juice with literally water consistency. The pea/kale (or whatever it was) was bitter, the mash was sour and weird and the blood from the beef was dripping into the otherwise lovely Yorkshire pudding. Based on my experience yesterday I would not return for a roast. My partner’s lime and soda was so so sour that he couldn’t drink it. Something went horribly wrong yesterday, mostly with the food. Service was initially a bit slow (10 mins to take our food order when really only one thing on the menu on Sunday so no need for extra time to choose) but staff were lovely overall. Get a new chef please if that’s where the issue lies. It’s such a lovely place otherwise and we used to love to visit. Thanks
Great place, food and drink was fab, staff lovely too!
We had booked a table for 2 and when arrived got seated at a table right on the door step and in the walkway where all other guests came in and out. I asked to move to an empty, more secluded, but still small enough for two, table and was told that it was needed for an upcoming table of 3. So I spent the whole time feeling uncomfortable about the people standing close behind me talking over me during covid and I was trying to eat... What made it worse was that the "table for 3" never showed during our meal so we watched longingly at a nice empty table for most of our time. Then, two people were seated at said table about 15 minutes before we left - insult to injury. I suggest you don't cram tables next to entrances during a global pandemic if you want your customers to feel comfortable.
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon
We had such a great time! The bottomless brunch was incredible and we will be back for more! Thanks again to you all for making our day special
Great service and lovely outside area!
Great location, great atmosphere and great food. Covered terrace with heaters for outside dining. Definitely recommend - looking forward to a Sunday Roast and a brunch here in the near future.
Would love to be able to smoke iqos since the veniew is anyway supposed to be outdoors (I mean, that’s why it’s open from the 12th of April)
Lovely evening on the first time being able to go out! Good vibes lovely food and great outdoor area
Staff were lovely, food and cocktails were fab
Hands down the best Sunday roast in Bristol! Not only for the generous portion, tasty trimmings and veryy instagrammable presentation, but for the amazing service and atmosphere the staff create. Its not often you find somewhere with such high quality food that you can still have a casual lunch with exceptional attention to detail and informal service. (Also not forgetting the awesome Pimms!!) Keep up the good work guys, your smashing it!
