Welcome to Borough, a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Leith.
We’re passionate about good food, great wine and unforgettable experiences and we cant wait to meet you.
The food was excellent and a very good wine list. The concept of choosing a combination of dishes to make your own 3 or 4 courses is both novel and very refreshing. Will be visiting again
Festive Menu is a delightful deviation from the usual tired Yuletide fayre on offer in so many eateries. The interesting menu did not disappoint, exciting combination of fresh produce in each of the 4 courses and the guinea fowl was cooked to perfection. These guys really know what they're doing
Great restaurant with delicious food and fun service, will be back
The food & wine was flowing, many delicious mouthfuls and wonderful flavours.
4 of us ate here Saturday night, had a wide selection of dishes particularly enjoyed the egg confit (watercress purée delicious), beef rump (loved the accompanying greens), lamb sweetbreads with haggis amazing & Lanark blue endives refreshing. Friendly attentive service, would highly recommend a visit, & hope to be back again soon.
Everything was spot on! Can’t waut to visit again! Big love for Borough!
The menu offers a great selection of seasonal food, a fabulous drinks list and excellent and friendly service.
Very nice evening at the Borough! Had a little incident with wine being spilled on my trousers, but the staff acted very professionally to apologise and offered comp drink. Highly recommended!
We spent a wonderful evening here, the food was wonderful - nice to see an unusual menu that, for once, wasn't meatcentric, no problems catering for the veggies and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all helpful and friendly and there was a lovely calm atmosphere about the room - even amongst the chefs working in the open kitchen. There was absolutely nothing to criticise, we all left very happy and will definitely be back.
Thank you for a lovely evening. Food was fantastic, especially the veggie options.
Great restaurant with great selection of dishes all seasonal based. The dishes are rather on the small side but very delicious and creatively put together. The service was excellent and really enjoyed my dining experience.
All the good vibes, tunes, wine and cooking of the highest order.
We had a great night at Borough.
Loved the food concept . Smal portions , perfect to share and able to try quite a few. Loved it.
Food was excellent - dessert a triumph
Great meal with interesting well cooked and plated ingredients. Loved the Jerusalem Artichoke desert! Service excellent. Shame that we were the only people in the restaurant. Deserves many more diners.
Bright and airy restaurant, lovely atmosphere, food and wine simply delicious, highly recommend.
Fantastic and exciting food served by attentive staff in a beautiful surrounding. Can't wait for my next visit to Borough.
We tried six out of the ten dishes on the menu, they were all as good as each other. We could not find fault. High quality and extremely clever cuisine. I would thoroughly recommend for anyone who loves food to go.
I really like the casual but quality experience at Borough. The staff are friendky & knowledgeable. The food is seasonal, well-executed and interesting (as well as delicious, of course) and I feel the drinks menu caters to most budgets.
Wonderful evening in this Leith based gem of a restaurant. Deco is simple and minimal yet elegant and stylish, music deserves a mention. Really enjoyed service which was attentive and with a dose of good humour. And finally food delicious, simple but innovative and interesting all at the same time. With five of us at the table we managed to try most of the menu (I believe we missed one or two dishes) including desserts (one complimentary) and cheese. not one dish disappointed to say the least. Our Picks of the night: pork belly with beans, venison (cooked to perfection!!!) truffled tartare, beetroot and crowdie. even liver parfait was delicious and it's not something that usually appeals to me. finally oats and honey dessert was the general favourite but the other two were just as good (chocolate and coffee - my personal favourite but lemon curd with black currant granita had a light refreshing note to finish the meal) wine list that came with recommendations from our server/restaurant manager suited white and red drinkers, including one fussy one ;) We also had a bottle of biodynamic champagne to start which was fab. Five Edinburgh girls who like to drink and eat out would highly recommend this restaurant and we all give it ***** and we will be back.
Love the fact that you are trying something new. Felt the warmth and genuineness of welcome and attention. The complimentary dish because we'd been waiting and the chef wasn't happy with the pheasant seemed a bit weird - given how quiet you were. Too many dishes of our dishes felt they were still being developed / tested. The cooking precision was missing - the promise of the menu wasn't delivered often enough. The beetroot just didn't deliver enough beef fat flavour. The pheasant was pleasant - but nothing too exciting. The belly pork was cooked well but the flavours weren't there. And as you know the un announced beans in the mussels were awful. But when the kitchen got it right - it was sublime. The dessert was truly unforgettable - Jerusalem artichoke, malt and oats. So potential which now needs to turn into delivery if you are going to make a go of it long term. There are too many other good eating options in Edinburgh - you've got to stand out with your food flavours not just your menu or your service. Wanted to come away feeling we'd found good food and unforgettable experiences but honestly didn't. Will give you another try to see if the kitchen can find its sweet spot more often. If not then we won't be back.
Excellent food, wine and service. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
