About Boathouse Restaurant
With panoramic views over Christchurch quay the boathouse has the most unique location in Christchurch
In the summer months relax and enjoy the most of the sunshine by dining alfresco in our extensive outside seating areas, while in the winter months stay warm inside by our log fire.
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every day throughout the year (sorry closed 25th dec) and always have a fantastic selection of homemade cakes and drinks available through the day.
In addition to this we have live acoustic music playing every weekend from Friday through to Sunday.
Please note we welcome dogs on our veranda and outside areas (but unfortunately not inside) .
The whole experience was excellent. Will be back. Will recommend too
Lovely staff and great atmosphere!
Friendly service, delicious food and cosy atmosphere. Had a lovely time catching up with friends.
Service was slow when we arrived, usually we are offered drink straight away but this time had to wait about 15 mins. When they did come to our table for the first time ask for food order too. My partner ordered a pint, which didn’t come full. I ordered a large glass of wine which looked like a small glass. The food was lovely. The girl that served us was lovely
Another fantastic meal here, thank you very much. Great to only come a month after my last visit and already there's plenty of new items on the menu. Service was friendly and prompt and the food was fantastic quality - fish was fresh, pizza has great toppings and the variation of starters/wines/cocktails is great. One of the best meals I've had with my family for a long time. Thanks!
Very quick service from the bar cocktails where amazing especially the Rhubarb Daiquiri food was lovely service good friendly staff pleasant atmosphere will be back
Lovely time spent with friends in a great atmosphere with great food and drinks
Will be coming back.
Lovely as always! The only place for an evening out.
Food was delicious & the service staff were very polite & friendly. Will definitely return
Really didn't enjoy my meal, my burger was average and I didn't eat my chips as they were dry and tasted like cardboard. Very unhappy customer.
Always great, friendly service, excellent food, beautiful location
Great food and service
Staff need re training, not once was we asked how our food was. Not even whilst settling our bill, poor service.
Staff are friendly, atmosphere is nice, Food was really tasteless, no flavour and bland, I couldn’t finish my dish which was supposed to be their best seller (the mussels) Husband returned his dish which was dressed crab, The salad which came with the food was very clearly a ready bought salad, the packed one you find in any supermarket Over priced and we were really disappointed with the food unfortunately
Food a little pricey but would still return
Excellent food & service as always
We’ve eaten here a number of times and it never disappoints. A great menu with a wide variety including burgers, pizza, fresh fish and great steaks. Service good, nice balance of COVID protection, and good value. Some great gluten free options - two members of my family are Coeliac.
Service slow. Meal not as described. Table top sticky.
The food was good but on the pricey side. The waiting staff were lovely but very slow. We waited 45 minutes to order
The food was mixed quality. We were with you for my mums birthday. Two people ordered fish and chips which was ok. My partner ordered pizza - was fair. Mum thank goodness had the bream fillet which came with crushed potatoes and was good although looked fried but was passable - thank goodness (as it was her birthday) I ordered the sea bass whole fish which came with chips and salad. It was dreadful - I was charged £25 for a sea bass whole fish which was deep fried and overcooked - I of course didn’t say anything not wanting to make a scene on mums birthday. We have been to this restaurant a few times before and the food has generally been ok although fairly overpriced. I didn’t ask how the whole fish would be cooked although foolishly it seams assumed it would be grilled or maybe lightly pan fried. I also didn’t ask the price at the table because as I mentioned we were out for a birthday meal. Please please don’t ruin nice food by frying - any decent restaurant would serve a whole fish grilled or lightly fried and at least say on the menu it’s fried as I would certainly not have ordered it . Although we love the location will be reluctant to return - at least for a long time.
Service excellent, disappointing Crab but the rest of the food and drinks good
Always a great place to visit with friends. Service and food remain top-notch, even under social distancing rules.
Fabulous evening as always, fab food and lovely atmosphere
Service was very slow considering there was so many staff Lovely waitress at the end did go above abound to provide us with a candle and clotted cream in the dessert for dads birthday though! Food was ok, nothing special.
