About Blas Restaurant
Meaning ‘Taste’ in Welsh, Blas was born out of the vision for its home, Twr y Felin. The dishes reflect the interior design, the food is creative, flavour filled, experimental; the presentation is ‘art on a plate’.
Ambient mood lighting highlights some of the hotels most divisive artworks, creating a space that influences the emotions and is space to engage in the present.
The menu offers contemporary dining, inspired by the season and locality, echoing Wales and its produce. Carefully sourced from predominantly Pembrokeshire and Welsh suppliers, the raw ingredients are fresh and originate from the surrounding countryside and coast.
Wales is famous for its lamb, but Pembrokeshire Black Beef, duck and fowl are farmed locally and feature regularly; whilst lobster, crab, mussels, clams and many species of fish are caught daily in the surrounding seas. Foraging rewards the team with ingredients such as samphire and laverbread.
From the windmill, you can see lush green fields above Caerfai Bay, dotted with a herd of grazing dairy cows. It is their milk that the local farmer churns into Cheddar and Caerphilly organic cheese, and is a must to taste.
For a true culinary experience and a feast for the senses, don’t miss it.
This is an expensive evening out. However, the atmosphere was very relaxed despite current covid situation. The service cannot be faulted, all staff were attentive and very friendly. The food was extremely good. Good to see that the feedback in relation to portion size has been taken on board with the addition of side dishes. This was our wedding anniversary and the chef made a very personal "petit fois" plate for us. Our experience in the restaurant made our evening very special indeed. We would return and definitely recommend.
Excellent service from all the team especially Daniel.
Food and service was great. We query why the hotel rooms and restaurant have no aspect of the outside space and views to the sea?
The food was ok, not exceptional. We had amuse bouche of venison tartare which was a bit strange, and certainly an odd choice for an appetiser (my husband was already having venison for main). Oddly the garlic roasted potatoes were all dente, so not enjoyable. Overall it wasn’t that bad. The staff are masked, the complication of using an app to see the menu seems unnecessary, when a wipeable menu would suffice.
We booked very late notice and are so glad we found availability at Blas Restaurant. The restaurant and hotel took safety and social distancing very seriously during the COVID pandemic but not to the point where you felt uncomfortable or spoil the atmosphere in anyway. The service throughout was superb for both dinner and breakfast, and the food was both stunningly presented and delicious. It was incredibly good value for money for the quality of food, especially compared to some pretty mediocre restaurants we had eaten in during that week while travelling through South Wales which were charging very similar prices at Blas. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting St David's.
It is so helpful that you mentioned how seriously we consider the pandemic and how we endeavour to keep our colleagues, guests from low risk areas and our community safe. Thank you so much. Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
We ate here on 2 consecutive nights. The first was excellent. The second was really disappointing because the very short menu remained unchanged. If one did not want venison there was no alternative meat, and even the amuse bouche was venison on the second night. The reason for my rating of service is only because the waiting staff could have suggested something off the room service menu. Otherwise service was 4 stars.
Thank you for your helpful comments which we will certainly take on board. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Beautiful food. Excellent service. Breakfast was wonderful, fabulous choices but the evening meal, while absolutely delicious, could do with being a bit more generous.
Thank you for your kind comments and for highlighting that as an AA 2 Rosette Restaurant, our focus is on quality of flavours and locally sourced fresh ingredients, rather than quantity of food. As a fine dining restaurant, we do recommend that guests enjoy at least three courses to maximize the experience. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Excellent lunch. Great food and very good, discreet service
So kind of you. Diolch o galon. Paula and the Team.
Fantastic service, delicious fine dining food, and excellent environment for fine dining. Definitely up for a second visit.

Excellent food served courteously in artistic surroundings
That's so kind of you. We are so pleased you enjoyed our collection of contemporary art. Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Delish as always! And thank you for the care you take of both staff and customers so we can be feel safe in your hands.
So kind of you to return once again and so sorry I missed you on this occasion. We really appreciate your regular patronage. Paula and the Team.
We had three breakfasts and two dinners with you. I have no complaint about the breakfasts which were good quality and well presented. One particular main course at dinner was very overpriced and simply ridiculous as a main course. Something which could have comfortably fitted on a couple of 50's and literally took all of a minute to consume. Granted artistry has a place in cooking but the point of eating is to satisfy basic needs as well. Butternut squash as far as I know is not an expensive product which must be conserved like perhaps truffles? Anyway, I complained about it at the time and your staff were very good at dealing with a grumpy customer. This was on the night of the 6th September. By the way, the breakfasts need to be good bearing in mind you are charging London prices for your accommodation and you are stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Thank you so much for offering your feedback on the nights so we could accommodate your individual requirements. in the hope of reassuring future guests, we offer rates from just £95 per guest per night inclusive of award winning breakfast, VAT Parking and WiFi. Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Always an outstanding experience . The commitment and hard work that everyone puts in creates a seamless welcoming high quality experience
We were so pleased to welcome you back for breakfast. Thank you for your excellent company once again. Cofion, Paula and the Team.
Excellent food and service and excellent adherence to covd safety measures
Thank you so much for highlighting our very stringent COVID prevention procedures. That is so helpful to reassure future guests who may wish to stay at Twr y Felin Hotel, Penrhiw Priory or Roch Castle, or dine at Blas Restaurant. Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
A little disappointing Much of the food arrived at the table cold. To say that the potatoes were the best part of the main courses probably says it all. The rest was sadly lacking in flavour and slightly undercooked.
Thank you for the feedback. We hope to welcome you back to our 2 AA Rosette fine dining Blas Restaurant so you can experience our usual high levels of food and quality of food. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Brilliant service. Staff exceptional and very helpful, polite and welcoming. A great selection of food choices, tasty and well presented.
That's so kind of you. Thank you for writing such a positive review. It was an absolute pleasure looking after you. Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Innovative beautifully prepared food, portion size perfect to allow enjoyment of all three courses. One minor point, we noticed a chip in a water glass after pouring the refill from the bottled water, glass was replaced, would have been a nice touch to replace the water also. But, very much look forward to returning. Gareth Thomas
Best restaurant in the area. Very carefull service extremely nice. Elaborated food. But the menu is a little short in choice and the atmosphere a little cold, but nothing not to go there!
Thank you for mentioning the quality, rather than quantity of dishes on our seasonal a la carte menu. Our fine dining 2 Rosette Blas Restaurant is indeed socially distanced and will be for some time to come while we are in this life threatening pandemic, hence the change in ambiance. Safety has to take precedence to keep our colleagues, guests from low risk areas and our community safe. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Excellent experience from the moment we were shown to our table. The food was really tasty, the presentation was excellent and the attention to detail. We will definitely be returning!
We are so pleased you enjoyed our fine dining experience in our 2 Rosette Blas Restaurant. Paula and the Team.
Considering the current circumstances and the time we are leaving, our dinner at Blas was really nice. Maybe some additional options in the menu would make it more exciting, but I have to admit that everything we ordered was very good, covering taste and presentation. The service was excellent. Very friendly but still efficient and professional. Definitely a nice treat if you are in the area.
Thank you for mentioning our laity rather than quantity of dishes on our seasonal a la carte menu which changes four times a year. We are so pleased you enjoyed your fine dining experience at 2 Rosette Blas Restaurant. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.
Fabulous food, every course a delight, great service, and the best sourdough I’ve ever tasted!
Thank you for mentioning our homemade sourdough which is certainly a hit with many of our guests. We are so pleased you enjoyed your fine dining experience at 2 Rosette Blas Restaurant. Cofion cynnes, Paula Ellis - Group General Manager.

This restaurant produced some dishes worthy of its two rosettes and we ate some lovely pescatarian and vegetarian food. My partner's halibut mains and loster starter and my mushroom starter and both mains cauliflower dishes were especially noteworthy. Highly recommended. The desserts were universally excellent. If you have special dietary needs give them plenty of advance notice.
