About Blairs at Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel & Spa
When it comes to dining, Blairs Restaurant boasts a kitchen that does justice to its grand surroundings. The award winning chefs conjure up one winning dish after another, using fresh, local produce and the finest international ingredients.
Staff in the spa area were very friendly and the girls doing the treatments were fantastic. In the main hotel it was a lovely surprise to hear we had the private room for the afternoon tea but then we asked four different people if we could have a re fill of tea and coffee and it easily took 30 mins to get any. The pool area is well outdated which I think is bad considering it’s not the cheapest spa in the world, and a real shame when there’s sucu nice treatments. I wouldn’t rush back for that reason. The jacuzzi is also far too hot!!!
The afternoon tea was nice however service was severely lacking. After finishing our afternoon tea we sat for 40 minutes trying to get someone’s attention for our bill. There were only 2 other tables occupied and we were the furthest away. The waiters would come in, go to one of those tables and go straight back out without looking in our direction. I ended up going to reception to ask for service. I’m glad my wedding is now elsewhere as after that service I would have been left thinking I had made a mistake in my choice of venue.
We won this carvery lunch and had we had to pay full price would have been disappointed. The range of starters was predominantly pate or terrine based so for children the only real option was soup which they said did not taste nice. The prawn cocktail myself and my mother in law had was tasty. Re the carvery the meats were nice but we had practically finished eating these (or those who waited it had gone cold) by the time the vegetables and yorkshire pudding arrived - and then the vegetables were taken away so we could not help ourselves to more! The desserts were nice and boys enjoyed the ice cream station. The atmosphere with the harpist was nice for adults but the environment and overall ambience was for an older clientele and not particularly welcoming for families. The main host was pleasant and polite, the other staff less so and had to wait 15 mins in reception before being shown to our table. I would not go back unfortunately.
As usual, everything about our visit to Ardoe was great. The venue looked beautiful, the staff were as lovely as always, and the Sunday carvery was delicious, with so many awesome options. We will definitely be back!
We were well looked after, not rushed at all, were checked upon but not harassed, one of the best afternoon tea I've had. Thank you 😊
Travelling with my fiancé for his birthday and we had a fabulous meal here, from the service to the wine and obviously the food we were really treated! I had the lamb and it was spectacular whilst my partner had the steak and said it was one of the best he has ever had - great night! Thanks again for the wee Happy Birthday surprise - it really rounded out a perfect evening.
We had diner at the Blair's restaurant. The starter as well as the main course were excellent. The desert was 'grandmotherly-wise' tasteful. Also a compliment goes to the choiches of the winelist: we had four different wines and all were excellent. But above all the Waiter made our evening: DANKEJWEL ;).
Lovely hotel room and service.
Food excellent Dining room excellent Staff excellent
Fantastic Sunday lunch, food delicious, service excellent, together with entertainment which was not too imposing which led to a perfect atmosphere. I'll definitely be going back.
I enjoyed afternoon as did my friends service was excellent . We all thought maybe more savory, maybe few less cakes and another few sandwiches . Hopefully we will be back soo. And that will be the case.
Thanks to Ardoe house hotel for their part in our Golden Wedding celebrations. The food was excellent, the bar and waiting staff were courteous, patient and very professional. Also thanks to the member of staff who was so helpful to our Australian family with organising some extra treats.
Table we sat at had a draught from door behind which apparently could not be properly closed. We were moved to another table. Otherwise perfect.
All together the experience was lovely. when we received the bill, the waitress had removed the drinks off the bill as an apology for our wait for our food even though we did not wait very long. appreciated the kind thought and would recommend to anyone.
Food was excellent. Service waiting on getting into the restaurant and also the starters arriving were both a bit slow
Had a lovely evening from start to finish. Food was excellent and the staff were atentive. Would highly recommend and will return again.
The evening dinner was excellent. Breakfast spoilt a bit by hard fried eggs and potato scones you could not cut. However everything else was fine and did really enjoy breakfast. Staff very friendly and efficient.
We had dinner but the steak was a bit under cooked and the sauce wasn't great
Unfortunately the teapots, cutlery and napkins were dirty. The waiter only checked on us after an hour when we finished everything.
Overall lovely stay. Shame the room was near lift though, as noisy with function guests returning to rooms
Scones were undercooked and had to be sent back but we had a fresh batch made
Started off well. However the 20 minute wait to be asked if we would like deserts was far too long. Then after deserts, despite being asked it took 30 minutes for the bill to arrive. Then 2 different card machines did not work and we were dumped at the front desk with no information passed to the receptionist about what we were trying to do who couldnt understand that we were not staying, only trying to pay for our meal. The food was average and certainly not worth the extortionate price tag.
The waiter forgot our order and we waited over an hour for our food but the food was lovely and we got drinks on the house ! Lovely vegan menu .
Afternoon tea was good with good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Unfortunately the hotel lacked any atmosphere and drawing room seemed a bit run down. Came as part of a spa day deal, would be good if the spa and hotel could work better together as I received multiple emails/calls regarding confirmation of my booking and each time the details were wrong. For example, I had booked afternoon tea as included in my voucher but then still received emails and a call about confirming my lunch order.
