About Blairscove Restaurant
Blairscove Restaurant is located in the barn which completed the quadrangle of farm buildings serving the former manor house.
It is high like a church and the tall windows overlooking Dunmanus Bay were recesses through which the hay was pushed down to the animals from the loft above. Some say that about 250 years ago the building was part of fortifications complete with two watchtowers.
In October 1981, after extensive restoration works, the restaurant opened its doors. Right from the start we became known for the best of Irish meat grilled on a roaring fire in the dining room, an impressive display of ‘help yourself’ starters as well as a mouth-watering selection of desserts.
This has not changed in all the years except that the freshest of seafood has been added to the selection. We use local produce as much as possible and all of our dishes are prepared in-house.
Loved our dining experience at Blair’s cove. Superior Quality of food, ambience, bar cocktails & service all really impressive. You’re doing everything so well & are marvellous ambassadors for Irish hospitality & cuisine . It’s a very special place offering great value for money. We’re coming back.
We had an incredible evening out here for my partner's birthday. From the moment you start down the long driveway, it feels like being transported to a different place and time. The location alone is enough to behold. The service is pure class. Ambience is second to none (the older gentleman on the piano was especially magical). The food speaks for itself... in my opinion it's the best cuisine experience in West Cork. We were made feel very special from beginning to end, and after already gorging ourselves on the dessert buffet, all of the waiting staff brought out a chocolate muffin to my partner and sang happy birthday. We loved every minute of it!
We'll be back!
It was my wife’s 60th birthday and with a family of 6 adults we had a memorable occasion. Thanks to the staff. We will remain patrons of this unique restaurant in the future.
We had a most wonderful meal on Thursday evening. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and attentive without being obtrusively so and the atmosphere was great. To go to Blair’s Cove is truly an ‘experience’ and a very good one at that. From stepping over the lantern lit threshold to the array of mouthwatering desserts arranged on the Piano ( the floating island was actually glistening in the candlelight) it is an experience to remember. Despite being in a beautiful building boasting a mixture of both high quality traditional and modern furniture, crockery, tableware and art work it is a most comfortable place offering very good value for money.
Another fantastic evening at Blairs Cove. The food always hits the mark, the service is extremely professional without being too formal. An evening at Blair’s Cove is such a treat and the quality of food and surroundings make it a very special place. Looking forward to returning very soon!
One of the best restaurants I've ever visited with superb food with the highest quality of ingredients and an excellent service. The surroundings and location are just beautiful. The many starters and flavours entailed were beyond any other restaurant experience. Great value for money considering the high quality of food and excellent staff this place is a must when visiting West Cork do not miss this fabulous place.
A real treat as always! Bring back the sweet and sour herrings ?... they were the highlight of the buffet starter!
We were only able to stay at Blairscove for one night, but it was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous facilities and property, excellent restaurant and food, and we really, really did not want to leave!
Lovely place. Good food and nice variety of choices on menu Welcoming friendly atmosphere. Excellent service. Everything very professional but relaxed and pleasant.
Wonderful experience from start to finish!
Amazing night, with a great host and service
We had a perfect meal and everything was excellent. It was our first visit and we felt welcomed and relaxed once we had found the restaurant bar reception. area. It was a lovely finish to our 25th wedding anniversary and if you will have us back we will be dining with you again. Many thanks and Kind regards Sean and Theresa
A fabulous dining experience, wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent wine list for all budgets, the buffet of starters was excellent, main course divine and I was just sorry I could not eat more of the desserts which were delicious including a lovely cheeseboard. We will be back!
Been going to Blair’s Cove restaurant for the last 30 years and always regarded it a “special” night out. It’s been two years since we were there, had my 50th party there, and did notice some changes. The good points about last night... staff were excellent, friendly, efficient and polite. The efficiency however was too efficient we felt. We ordered a drink before the meal in the lounge, got the menus and were given all of 5 minutes to order our main course. Two minutes later asked to come our table, two minutes later asked to come the starter buffet. The starter buffet was as per fantastic but has not as much variety as before, but still excellent. The main course came and was a bit disappointing and lacking the Blairs Cove flair. The veg were served in a dessert bowl which consisted of butternut squash and chickpea and 4 potatoes in onother dessert bowl and that was it!! , NOT Blair’s Cove style I would have to say. Then came dessert... usually a great variety of what ever one wanted. Served by a very nice member of staff, obviously under orders not to give too much. The guy being served before us expected a full slice of tart but only got a mouth full of same, much to his disgust. Pretty much the same with us, small to tiny helpings and felt best not ask for more. I asked if I could get some cheese also and was was told either or. The cheese was to say the least “slack”. While it was good cheese it was presented awful and very limited. Over all we had a lovely night there and will go again but I really hope to see Blair’s Cove being Blair’s Cove, which is what Blair’s Cove is, was, all about.
Delicious food served in a beautiful place. Highly recommend Blair’s Cove, can’t wait to go back
OMG the buffet selection of amazing starters! I think I tried almost everything! The generous portion of scallops for main course were melt in the mouth. ...and then the buffet of desserts, once again OMG. Custard and strawberry tart, Black Forest mousse, but the highlight had to be the floating island - poached meringue that didn’t just melt in your mouth it evaporated! It’s what you’d imagine eating a cloud is like. ☁️ From the moment you’re led to the restaurant entrance by the candlelit lanterns and the soothing tunes from the piano this is a dining experience not to be missed.
