About Blacksmiths Loft
Fresh, locally-sourced food
At The Blacksmith’s Loft restaurant, you’ll find only freshly-cooked food, prepared from scratch. Our Head Chef, Andy Ellis, works tirelessly to source the very best meat, fish and seasonal vegetables from leading suppliers in and around Derby.
There aren't many restaurants in Derby like this. With an excellent selection of well cooked interesting dishes. Not the cheapest, but it didn't blow any budget. Service was excellent, I'd informed them of a birthday and they provided a card and treated the person with a birthday which I thought was a really nice touch. Would go back again.
An absolutely lovely evening, in a beautiful, secluded setting, right in the heart of Derby! An informal, cosy restaurant. But enough space to not feel you were cramped in, or in anyone else's way. Food was magnificent, Waiting staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. It was my Wife's Birthday, so the card from the Restaurant on the table as we arrived, along with the welcoming glass of Bubbly was very much appreciated, and a lovely additional touch! I can highly recommend this place.
Very disappointing meal unfortunately.my crispy beef was not crust and very fatty. The lamb was ok. Won't be dining here again.
The quality of food was very good and we enjoyed it but my soup and chateaubriand was not as hot as I would have preferred. Also my wife's "crispy" Thai starter wasn't actually crispy so she was a bit disappointed. We will come back.
As always food and service excellent, our favourite place in Derby!
We had a lovely meal and great service - thank you Sam and team!
We really enjoy the food and think it is very good value for money and the staff are great.
A real gem for food lovers. Quality of the food and service was fantastic.
The best Sunday Lunch in Derby good quality food and value for money
We were celebrating my. 70th birthday and we all enjoyed the the evening. The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Another lovely evening at the blacksmiths. The service, ambience and food were lovely as always. The option to then move downstairs for the live entertainment completes the nights.
Had a friend visiting from Belfast so decided to go for Sunday lunch, booked online & reserved a table for the bar downstairs afterwards for live music! Dinner was as usual delicious 3 courses for £19, if two of you have the 3 courses you get wine included! Always great service but my request for a table downstairs had been overlooked! We did get a table but sadly where in the window and couldn’t see the entertainment, eventually moved once someone left. Always a great visit, definitely be back again
we arrived promptly for our table which was booked for 12.30,for Sunday lunch. We were the second table to be occupied. However it took ages for drinks to be served and our food order taken. We all had just two courses , mains and desserts. We left at 3.30. There were only two staff to deal with a full restaurant and clearly this is not enough in order to give good service. We have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. This time however the service was not good enough. It was a first visit for our friends,so was unfortunate that it took three hours to deliver two courses. There really should have been more staff.
First visit .booked on line easily. We had a drink in the bar below and mentioned our booking to bar staff . The restaurant was nice and staff were welcoming. We had opted for the March early dinnnig menu. Soup starter was very nice .... but unfortunately we had to wait a long time for our dinner (20 mins +) and had to ask a member of staff had we been for gotten .. Manager came and apologise for delay ... we were a bit disappointed.. but the lovely food (pork belly .. chicken & risotto )more than made up for the delay Food was tasty ..well presented and flavoursome... and the cheeky cheese cake desert was the best .. Enjoyed all 3 courses.. staff we excellent and customer service was very good as the manager gave a discount on the bill for our wait .. fair play 👍
One of the best Sunday roasts we have had in a long time. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending.
Very nice 👍
We had a lovely evening - however the restaurant was empty so had no atmosphere.
We had a lovely evening, the food was excellent, service attentive but not intrusive. We didn't really get a feel for the atmosphere as we were at the far end of the restaurant with only 2 other people seated near us, felt a little isolated
Amazing food and best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Highly recommend
The food was absolutely stunning. Our entire party of 11 adults said it’s one of the best meals they’ve had and couldn’t rate it highly enough. Booking the table was very easy, and Sam who I dealt with was very helpful. We was giving a long table at the end of the room, which was a nice private space. The food came out quick and we were regularly asked if there was anything else they could do for us. We will definitely be making a trip back, just a shame it isn’t closer to home for us!
The restaurant was empty and we felt uneasy as to why, especially on a Friday evening. The service was good, thank you. The food came too quickly, I know no one else was in, but within 5 minutes!! The staters were poor. Dry deep fried cheap beef on a tiny bit of salad was very disapointing as was the liver pate that tatested like it was from an out of date jar. Mains were better. Again came too quickly. The decaf coffee was £2.50 and was clearly instant, not acceptable. We tipped £10 in recognition of service. Will not return or recommend due to poor chef / food quality.
Excellent food and service - happy to go back and recommend!
Second visit here, friendly staff and good food, would definitely recommend
There were 5 of us celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday. The choice of restaurant was my daughter's together with her brother and her boyfriend. My wife and I (both of us "senior citizens") rarely eat in town, preferring to dine outside Derby. However, we went with the flow and were extremely impressed. We would certainly come again. All five of us had a wonderful evening and the 5 stars across the board reflect this.I had mentioned at the time of booking that we were coming to celebrate my daughter's birthday, but all too often other restaurants ignore this sort of information. Top marks to you, therefore, that your front of house staff had been made aware of the reason for our visit in advance of our arrival. Their welcome, the decorations on the table, the card and the complimentary prosecco all started the evening off perfectly. Thank you to the whole team for a great evening.
We enjoyed a most relaxing Sunday lunch....food was excellent with atmosphere and service to match
