About Blacks Corner
At Blacks Corner, small batch produce
is at the heart in this conversation of flavours and makers all striving to make small batch produce a reality.
The East Boldon restaurant works closely with
British farmhouse cheese producers, and
cured meat and charcuterie producers,
sourcing direct from farms to create a
menu of ‘taste pairings’ showcasing this
little-known British produce.
Set in a beautifully-restored Edwardian
corner building, Blacks Corner offers you
the chance to relax and unwind over a drink,
perhaps with a tasty savoury aperitif, such
as the intriguing-sounding Cornish seaweed
and cider luxury sausage, or maybe just
some toasted Valencia almonds, which are
imported weekly from Spain.
If you would like to catch up with friends
or colleagues over an informal meal, their
meat and cheeseboards would be ideal.
Alternatively, you can choose from a range of
flatbreads, small plates, crostini or baguettes.
Then why not round it all off with a refreshing
sorbet or a cake from the deli counter.
If you are not planning to dine, you’re still
free to sit back and savour a glass or bottle
of wine from their extensive list
They have sparkling wines and Champagnes
too, as well as ports – perfect as a digestif or
as an accompaniment to one of their cheese
boards. If wine is not your tipple of choice,
you’ll find a selection of gins, cocktails,
ciders, ales and lagers, as well as soft drinks.
The original Black family were traced and
contacted for old photographs to help with
the design, and the great, great grandson of the original owner and builder proudly
snipped the red ribbon to mark the
opening of Blacks Corner last September.
Blacks Corner was Runner Up at
the Northern Design Awards 2017 – in
the Restaurant and Bar category. It was nominated for a
Restaurant and Bar Design Award in the
UK and International Category of ‘Surface
Interiors’, and has been named a Diners
Choice winner multiple times.
A great afternoon at Blacks with delicious food!
Brilliant as always xxx
Great, friendly service and quality food.
One of our favourite places ! Staff are fabulous.
Food was absolutely amazing but we waited almost an hour from ordering to being served with any food. We noticed other tables being served food before us despite us ordering first. Staff were unapologetic about the wait :(
Excellent food and service; We were in a party of eight and everybody enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. If you deserve a treat, I would highly recommend Blacks Corner.
Lovely foid and great service
Absolutely fabulous wine food and service. Definitely a return trip soon
Afternoon tea, so not very busy, so can't comment on Atmosphere. How ever we did not feel the staff were very attentive, we had to ask them when we wanted extra drinks etc. they did not approach us and ask if we required anything further. The price has been increased since our last visit, but we felt we got less (cheese and meat on the board) We absolutely love our previous visits... very one was left a little disappointed this time.
Great visit with top quality breads and oils to start followed by exceptional olive flatbread main
Four of us out and had a great time. Great place to be in!
Once again we had a fantastic meal at Blacks corner. Loved the variation on the new menu and would recommend the British bravas which was a lovely accompaniment. Worcestershire ham and balsamic flat bread is still my favourite. Can't wait to return.
Food is amazing and great atmosphere
Really enjoyed our visit to blacks corner. Food was lovely and service was outstanding.
The only negative i havre is that this is the fourth time I have been and each time I have been asked to move tables or go through to the bar area so they can set up for the next customers - which I do understand that’s what needs to happen but this time we didn’t even get sat down until 20 mins after our slotted time but was still ushered off an hour later!!! Maybe give a two hour slot to customers rather than what you are currently allocating! But the postives of Blscks Corner do outweigh this one negative! Fabulous food, friendly staff (even when they are politely asking you to move) and a warm atmosphere.
Unfortunately I have to say our Christmas Eve brunch was very disappointing. We were a party of 13, the table had been booked for months in advance and we had even pre-ordered our food prior to the day. We had to wait 40 mins from the first person receiving their food until the last person was served, then when the food did arrive it was cold.
Great place, great people working there.....lovely food and special atmosphere! Looking forward to our next visit!
Always fantastic service, smiling, friendly staff members. We had dinner on Christmas Eve and even though you where so busy the service and the food where excellent! Well done our favourite place to eat xx
We had a fabulous time. Love this place
Just fabulous, as always!
Food fabulous and staff were brilliant-Blacks Corner is a real little gem of a place. Merry Christmas to all the staff x
Good food, good wine, good atmosphere, good service which altogether gives a perfect night out.
My first visit and certainly wont be the last. I'm a big fan of charcuterie & cheese and these guys know what they're doing. Even better the produce is locally sourced. Only problem I see here is they may need to extend premises as it's thriving so congratulations for that. It's absolutely buzzing and I can't wait to go back. Just what Boldon needed a beautiful classy place like this. X
We waited over 40 mins for our food. We were not informed that it would take so long. When we asked our waitress how much longer we would wait after 30 mins we considered her rude and challenging and reluctant to admit that she should have explained the delay. My daughters food was cold when it eventually arrived. The charcuterie Board was nice but it would have been nice to have a choice of what we had. Whilst there was a fair number of people in the restaurant the food is simple and should have been able to cope with the numbers without such a huge delay. We asked for discount because of the bad service and eventually were told we could have a £10 gift voucher. which means that we have to come back. We had looked forward to trying this place for a long time and quite frankly it was a huge disappointment.
Fantastic ambience great food and drink. Lovely staff and Highly recommend a visit
