About Blacks Corner
At Blacks Corner, small batch produce
is at the heart in this conversation of flavours and makers all striving to make small batch produce a reality.
The East Boldon restaurant works closely with
British farmhouse cheese producers, and
cured meat and charcuterie producers,
sourcing direct from farms to create a
menu of ‘taste pairings’ showcasing this
little-known British produce.
Set in a beautifully-restored Edwardian
corner building, Blacks Corner offers you
the chance to relax and unwind over a drink,
perhaps with a tasty savoury aperitif, such
as the intriguing-sounding Cornish seaweed
and cider luxury sausage, or maybe just
some toasted Valencia almonds, which are
imported weekly from Spain.
If you would like to catch up with friends
or colleagues over an informal meal, their
meat and cheeseboards would be ideal.
Alternatively, you can choose from a range of
flatbreads, small plates, crostini or baguettes.
Then why not round it all off with a refreshing
sorbet or a cake from the deli counter.
If you are not planning to dine, you’re still
free to sit back and savour a glass or bottle
of wine from their extensive list
They have sparkling wines and Champagnes
too, as well as ports – perfect as a digestif or
as an accompaniment to one of their cheese
boards. If wine is not your tipple of choice,
you’ll find a selection of gins, cocktails,
ciders, ales and lagers, as well as soft drinks.
The original Black family were traced and
contacted for old photographs to help with
the design, and the great, great grandsonof the original owner and builder proudly
snipped the red ribbon to mark the
opening of Blacks Corner last September.
Blacks Corner was Runner Up at
the Northern Design Awards 2017 – in
the Restaurant and Bar category, less
than £250k. It was nominated for a
Restaurant and Bar Design Award in the
UK and International Category of ‘Surface
Interiors’, and has been named a Diners
Choice winner four times.
Highly recommended. A wonderful venue, very relaxing atmosphere, great food and lovely service.
A little expensive when you break down what you have but I can see why. Took an old school friend, she hadn’t been before, she’s eaten in some high end restaurants and she absolutely loved it and will go back . Loved the decor, atmosphere and of course the company
Excellent atmosphere, service and food- as always! Thanks again!
Lovely food, though very expensive. Felt very crowded; seats are very close together. Menus look very worn and tired.
We were charged for 3 bottles of wine when we only had one bottle and a glass. This was quickly corrected when questioned. The waitress was rushed and I don't think it would have happened if there was more staff working on the day.
Second time we've been and it was very enjoyable. Love the concept and the food is fabulous!
My friend and I would have loved to sit outside, but when we arrived the rain had stopped but the wooden benches were still wet - just a suggestion how about having cushions to go on after it has stopped raining
First visit to Black’s Corner and was impressed with the seating inside and out. Friendly staff who were very helpful and accommodating when a friend arrived late. The kitchen was closed but our friend was given a plate of nibbles.
Lovely chilled out place, one of our favourites!
Would like to see nice rose like cote du Provence on wine menu
Fatantic food, service and setting. First class
Outside sitting area is also very pleasant for dining in. The plants shelter the tables so that you are unaware of the road. Weather this summer has made dining outside a pleasure.
Great food and wine and the service was fantastic !!!
The place to go' great food and fab staff
Excellent all round!
Amazing from start to finish The food was to die for The atmosphere relaxing Thoroughly enjoyed my visit
Easily booked online. Staff were delightful. Food lovely. Wine delicious. Sitting outside in the sun was wonderful. Highly recommended.
The food and quality of produce is amazing. Such a lovely place.
Lovely food, great service and chilled atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
I found the British Charcuterie selection to be VERY salty.
Had a lovely brunch here today , met up with family who have never been before and they were also impressed Great atmosphere and could of stayed all day 😁 Felt at home and staff are very welcoming Thank you we will be back
Quality food drink and setting - strongly recommend
This was my first visit to Blacks Corner and looking at the menu I was a little put of as i didn't really understand it, never been to a place like this before. Anyways once I got there the staff were so polite and knew exactly what they were talking about when it came to the food which put me at ease. I went ahead with there decision for starters and chose the charcuterie flatbread for main. I can definitely say it was one of the most tastiest meals I have had and not to heavy on the stomach just right ! There's a lovely atmosphere the decor was beautiful inside put a 4 star for value as although the wine was beautiful also and went down a treat £38 A bottle was slight steep ! But thank you for the wonderful night !
Great first experience, quality food and drink in beautiful surroundings.
The wine was excellent for a house red. The food was excellent in terms of quality and quantity. Unfortunately, there was no pate, no steaks, (Although in fairness there is a warning that the steaks are in short supply) There was also no artisan bread or butter beans & chorizo. All in all a good dining experience and very enjoyable. We will return.
