About Black Pig With White Pearls
The Black Pig With White Pearls is an authentic Spanish tapas bar and restaurant nestled between the hustle and bustle of Dalston and the village-like atmosphere of Stoke Newington. Specialising in Ibérico, only the best quality fresh 100% full breed free range organic Ibérico pork from Extremadura Spain, which is used in their generous servings of tapas and mains. Starting out as a pop-up restaurant they have come a very long way since their humble beginnings. Not many pop-ups enjoy the longevity that Black Pig has to become an established restaurant.
The name Black Pig comes from the meat used. Black in colour, Ibérico pigs can be found in southern regions of Spain. Head chef David is Spanish born and bred, hailing from the town of Extremadura - you can't get more authentic than that. The "White Pearls" part comes from a beautiful painting of a pig that David and his partner Melvin found on their travel in India. The painting can be found adorning the exposed brick wall of the restaurant.
Inside, the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming with Melvin at the helm, always smiling and ever charming. Lit by ambient candlelight and with traditional Spanish flamenco music playing subtly in the background, you will feel like you have stumbled across a bar in the heart of Spain. All the staff are warm and friendly and more than happy to cater to your needs. The Black Pig With White Pearls will feel like a home from home.
Our server was so incredibly lovely and engaging, had a lovely evening being looked after by him. However from how they describe themselves we thought we were in for a cadlelit evening with spanish music- although these things were there it wasnt as atmospheric as they make it out to be. Definitely more of a chill place than super romantic!
We love it here! Try the prawns, they’re the best!
Great place strongly recommend
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service, friendly staff who remained completely calm and relaxed despite being very busy. The food was super delicious!
Everything was a little too salty. The staff however were lovely.
When you let the staff know (politely) that the service and some of the food didn’t meet your expectations (especially compared to a previous visit), the usual response is an apology and perhaps an offer of compensation. Perhaps a drink, a dessert or a future visit discount. None were offered. I won’t be returning.
Beautiful food, lovely staff!
This place is a gem and has become our go-to every time we ditch the kids. Don't go changing!
Seemed somewhat chaotic on arrival, with a table on the pavement offered. Nope to pollution and passing tramps. We opted the sharing menu which was confusing, with one dessert and/or no bread olives. Various dishes were offered over the period of 30 mins, many of which weren’t for us, and had to ask about various dishes that were missing. Overall was actually decent food, and the staff seemed nice and friendly. Not sure id come back for tapas if it wasn’t for the deal, would have been expensive for the amount of food on offer.
After my booking was confirmed, I didn't like being called up to request it to be moved earlier to increase cover turnover. I appreciate it's been a tough time for the industry but this tells me greed is more important than customer service.
Thank you for the delicious tapas and warm welcome
This was the most high risk place I’ve been since the end of the lockdown. The tables were far too close - so much so that the woman behind me had her head almost touching mine. The place was so understaffed that the poor staff were running around crazily and in a state of confusion. They had zero time to stop so I doubt they were able to properly sanitise hands between moving used cutlery and forks and bringing out new plates of food. I appreciate it has been difficult coming out of lockdown but we’ve been to restaurants that got things right and did things well. Yours didn’t.
Excellent food and very friendly service. I’ll be back
Awfully slow service and food going to wrong tables. A total mockery of good service. Food average and overpriced for portion size.
It was a busy evening but the guys did an amazing job, food was amazing and the tapas menu was ideal for trying a bit of everything. I implore everyone to book a table! Happy hour was also excellent and definitely resulted in a slightly sore head this morning!
The best tapas I‘ve had outside of Spain and the service was brilliant.
Wonderful service, wonderful food, wonderful restaurant!
Delicious food, friendly staff
Best in town! Black Pig still remains our favourite dining out experience in London and we out a lot so that's a big deal for us. It's our go-to place for celebrations and casual dinners, with a consistent relaxed romantic atmosphere, delicious ever-changing special menu and fabulous staff; its money well spent with each trip.
Great experience, will come back.
Great food and amazing service
First time here. Been wanting to come for ages and I’m glad I finally did! Everything was perfect! Our meal was amazing.
Lovely restaurant and lovely staff. Food was excellent
The vegan menu is a genuine delight. Nice vibe and friendly staff too. Definitely recommend!
As good as I remembered
