About Black Pig With White Pearls
The Black Pig With White Pearls is an authentic Spanish tapas bar and restaurant nestled between the hustle and bustle of Dalston and the village-like atmosphere of Stoke Newington. Specialising in Ibérico, only the best quality fresh 100% full breed free range organic Ibérico pork from Extremadura Spain, which is used in their generous servings of tapas and mains. Starting out as a pop-up restaurant they have come a very long way since their humble beginnings. Not many pop-ups enjoy the longevity that Black Pig has to become an established restaurant.
The name Black Pig comes from the meat used. Black in colour, Ibérico pigs can be found in southern regions of Spain. Head chef David is Spanish born and bred, hailing from the town of Extremadura - you can't get more authentic than that. The "White Pearls" part comes from a beautiful painting of a pig that David and his partner Melvin found on their travel in India. The painting can be found adorning the exposed brick wall of the restaurant.
Inside, the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming with Melvin at the helm, always smiling and ever charming. Lit by ambient candlelight and with traditional Spanish flamenco music playing subtly in the background, you will feel like you have stumbled across a bar in the heart of Spain. All the staff are warm and friendly and more than happy to cater to your needs. The Black Pig With White Pearls will feel like a home from home.
Great atmosphere very friendly hosts always a pleasure. Great food , lots of sharing dishes, wine fab too
Amazing food and wine and superior quality/price relation. Thank you for your kindness David!!!
Lovely local restaurant, food was good and service was really friendly
Food and drinks were fantastic, though could do with some more staff as wait times were a little long
Celebrated my Birthday here and had a lovely time. The food and service is exceptional. You will be well looked after.
First time back here after having a fantastic party here a while ago. The food was lovely, especially the pork, although felt the pudding was a little boring (almond tart) and a bit dry. Ran out of ice cream. Staff really nice and attentive. Recognised and solved problems before they were brought to their attention. The wine was decent, although the digestif my husband ordered was pretty horrible and he couldn't drink it. Felt that could have been on house as a gesture seeing as it wasn't exactly fine cognac (!) and the waitress hadn't a clue about the drinks menu, so it was real guesswork as to what he was going to get. All in all quite expensive but above average tapas.
Food was delicious and the portions are generous. The service was excellent! Will definitely be returning soon.
Melvin is always a fabulously friendly host ! Excellent food
Excellent food, knowledgeable and inspiring staff. Hope the ice-cream takes off it’s awesome.
We had a wonderful evening here - staff are so lovely and kind - couldn't be better. And the food is amazing!
Food wonderful as always. Such friendly service too. Although we sat down early, the restaurant soon filled up around us. Despite this, we never felt rushed to leave even when all of the other tables were full and people were still coming in. We really appreciate this gem of a place and it will continue to be our go to for all our special occasions.
Food amazing as always
Amazing food, really friendly service. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommended!
