About Black Knight Restaurant at Lumley Castle Hotel
The elegant setting and superb food on offer in our award winning Black Knight Restaurant make it a popular choice for diners from far and wide. Subtle lighting, lavish furnishings, unobtrusive yet attentive service makes the Black Knight Restaurant truly memorable. Our menu offers classical dishes with an original twist. Diners can choose from our A la Carte menu and enjoy an extensive selection of fine wines to complement your meal.
Venue impressive, service terrible, I booked the Black Knight Resturant, and after being directed to it was sent back to the Library Bar for a dire experience. Too numerous complaints to mention. Complained and an currently waiting for a response, which I expect to recive in the same time that they responded to my booking. So far all I would say is save your money or go to Beamish Hall where you are treat like royalty !
My only complaint would be about the dry scone. When cut it was very crumbly.
Lovely meal - the smoky goats cheese brûlée starter was particularly impressive.
Another excellent afternoon tea at Lumley Castle
I wanted to give zero stars! Food was terrible! The lamb was fatty and although it was cooked it was tasteless and we could have been eating anything Yorkshire puddings were cold and had to be returned Requested extra gravy and it never arrived Hazelnut choc brownie was so hard and heavy and struggled to break it with a spoon It was one of the worst experiences we’ve had from a dining point of view We told all this to staff and nothing was said to defend the situation
I love visiting Lumley Castle whether it's for afternoon tea or the Elizabethan banquet, food and service is amazing, which is set off by the beautiful dramatic castle
GREAT SETTINGS AND GREAT STAFF
Service was great, food was nice
Ribeye and fillet steak fabulous followed by cheeseboard which has a lovey selection.
The level of background music means that I found it a strain to hear by wife, I hate this. I have some hearing loss anyone else with hearing loss would say the same.
Food was excellent and the service was attentive.
Delicious meal, superb staff, and the atmosphere was just perfect! I would highly recommend it.
Sandwiches and scone excellent. Blueberry mouse would have been better chilled. Service very prompt but brought all sandwiches with meat even though they knew 2 were vegetarian.Had to wait for them to be changed, hence only 4 stars. Had to ask for more tea but it was brought very promptly. Every one thoroughly enjoyed the tea and would definitely go again.
I've been here a couple of times now and plan to return regularly with Business. Everything from the food, drink, atmosphere, staff is exceptional, particularly the staff, they are very welcoming and the staff in The Black Knight restaurant were full of welcoming chat and good humour at times when fitted. I wouldn't alter a thing about this place
I do regret giving a 1 star for the service as Michael our waiter was fantastic. The only problem I have was once we paid our bill a very rude member of the waiting team came over to us and told me to watch my language as someone had made a complaint on the next table. I believe I never swore but just incase I did I went over to the table to apologise where they told me I never swore and they didnt make a complaint. They told me they had enjoyed watching me and my partner have a really good laugh and a good time. This was my birthday night out and this waitress completely ruined my night by making something up that didnt happen. Will not return.
The weather was atrocious due to blizzard conditions but the staff and atmosphere of the restaurant took your mind off that. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was to die for (compliments to the chef there as the steaks were done to perfection). Service was on point, the courses came out at the right time and there was no pressure to leave once we had finished our meal.
We booked the romancing at lumley for our Golden wedding and really enjoyed our stay. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. It was so different from your normal hotel stay
We got married at Lumley Castle 11 years ago, we come every year and stop the night, just done the Queen Anne room last week, brilliant !!! the whole experience, room, staff, restaurant etc, is absolutley faultless, highly recommended, 5***** in my eyes, - Paul & Michelle Milner
I visited for afternoon tea with family members, we were served in the library bar and we were fascinated by the books! Would love to know the origin of some of them. We enjoyed our food very much, plenty of it and free flowing tea. The staff were very attentive and the whole place had a cosy welcoming ambience. Will visit again.
In all the years of coming to Lumley castle this was the first time we ever had to complain about the quality of the food and return a meal which after a 40 minute wait did not materialise . The “head chef” who was obviously displaying arrogance wanted to teach us a lesson for pointing out to him the difference between a jus and a gravy. The place is not what it used to be, very disappointing. Thank to the manage who came to us at the end of the night to discuss the problem.
Left waiting half an hour after being seated had to ask if we had been forgotten
Food excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend. The wine I had on both nights were lovely, saying that a couple of extra Bordeaux choices would have been snapped up if they were an option. All in all a great dining experience and a big thank you from us both.
Third visit here for lunch and excellent once again. Great value for delicious food and great service. Love this place!
Top place to dine, wifey and I love treating ourselves at Lumley Castle and the Black Knight restaurant. Regularly take people there as special treats, on this occasion my in-laws who were blown away. Great food and the staff is absolutely amazing. Highly recommended.
