Very nice friendly staff and lovely food
Never disappointed, this has been my favourite restaurant for 25 years .
Excellent service, very friendly atmosphere and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you.
A memorable and different experience for our Sunday lunch. Food and service surpassed expectation in a unique setting. Great sticky toffee pudding ! Will definitely return.
Only criticism was we were a party of 12 and as the restaurant was quiet we could have had, as we requested, a couple of tables put together so we could all be together. Instead we were put on two separate tables. There was plenty room and free tables so we did feel a little let down. Food was excellent, staff friendly and the room was beautiful.
The restaurant was very nice the food was lovely apart from the sweet we had the ginger sponge with lemon meringue ice cream it was absolutely disgusting so strong you wouldn’t believe not at all a nice tasting sweet spoilt the evening to be honest and i was celebrating my 50th birthday and one more thing not even a box of chocolates or a drink or a bottle of something even when you all at the hotel new it was more birthday
The evening dining experience was wonderful, the atmosphere, food and service all first class and I can say the same for the lunch time experience. However not quite for the breakfast experience. The buffet breakfast was quite limited and there was a 15 min gap in service from seating to taking the order. Lesson learned: check out the buffet before deciding the breakfast choice
Lovely afternoon tea . Cakes were especially delicious.
Lovely, plenty of food and staff were really good
Visited on a itison deal, so a special menu to choose from opted for ox cheek, delicious, could have been a tad warmer also we needed to put the radiator on beside us as a distinct chill in room, it is January! Pleasant quick service, not pestered.
Absolutely superb in every way!
Fantastic staff who couldn’t have done more for us! It’s our favourite place!
Please pass on our thanks to Kim and the staff, Sandra and Blondine who looked after us exceedingly well. The meal was superb extremely well cooked the scallops 'melted' in the mouth and the fillet steak was sublime desserts out of this world. We have not dined in the castle since New Years Eve 2017 but we will most definately be back! Thank you
Lumley Castle is my favourite place on earth and this was our third visit at Christmas. We were very lucky to be given a table in the raised section of the restaurant this time which was a great table as my husband got to sit on a 'throne'. The food was again of a very high standard, served piping hot by one of the many very busy staff who are always on hand. Dessert was equally delicious, just enough to take our sweet cravings away. Always exceptional food in a beautiful restaurant which has such a great atmosphere our meals always feel special here and we hope to visit again very soon.
We have came hear for our Christmas lunch for a few years now and it’s always been very nice & would recommend it to anyone we have never had any problems with anything Lovely venue lovely staff great service & beautiful food
We’ve stayed every Christmas for the last 7 years. This year a definite decline overall, ie comfort, Christmas atmosphere/feel, service, food quality (especially breakfast). Sad to say we won’t return next year and will look elsewhere. Was magical this time of year, now very ordinary. Thanks for the past memories though.
Was a nice change to our weekend. Really nice afternoon tea served by really nice staff, very friendly and helpful, in a really nice and relaxing environment
Absolutely beautiful meal delivered fantasticly by happy friendly staff. Christmas lunch was amazing finished off by tea/coffee sweet mince pies . Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone very high standard very welcoming excellent quality food brilliant staff thank you for amazing afternoon xx
An excellent evening enjoyed by the whole family. Thank you.
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, will definitely call again. Thankyou
Its quite a formal traditional restaurant which I like. The starter of pigeon was complained by my guest and fed back to the waitress. The whole dish design is exceptionally poor value with tiny slivers of pigeon and the whole dish could be eaten within 30 seconds. He was quite annoyed about that dish. I urge you to look at that finished dish and ask how can it be improved, is it really value? Would your staff pay good money for that. First choice wine was out which was disappointing too. Overall though a good meal.
Good value and great atmosphere, only issue was the Tea was a bit cool.
£35 for two Special offers always turns out at least 20% more....just be aware
We enjoyed our lunch and the elegant restaurant. I had the "Broth" which was not very good. The base was watery and lacked depth of flavour. Otherwise the food was very good.
