excellent food in a beautiful setting. Look forward to seeing you again soon,
Excellent service and experience, made my wife's birthday a very specail experience
Beautiful and quirky. The restaurant certainly has character, a very unique place to have afternoon tea; although maybe slightly more than most places - most certainly worth it. The scones were amazing and the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Food and service was excellent. Thank you
Service was good, but the staff was friendly and welcoming so I gave 5 stars. Nothing is better than friendly wait staff with a sense of humour. Goes a long way. The food was fine. I had the pork belly which was tough and not nice and I couldn’t really eat much. The staff did fail by either not noticing and asking why I didn’t eat it or not caring. The fries were frozen packet which is not at all ok considering the price we paid. Lamb and steak were good. And the starter of asparagus and egg was yummy. We had a really good evening even though some of the food could have been better. But cheers to the staff, they’re super. We were disappointed that the restaurant only had Fonseca port, but luckily we found better in the bar, loved the old books in the bar. Loads of fun while we drank our port.
Excellent service, delicious food and a gracious atmosphere - wonderful experience
Excellent place to visit and experience
my only complaint is that my wine glass was refilled without my consent. I had poured the correct amount for myself previously so I did not want any more.
Excellent meal as always!
Our Scallop starters were served cold and had to be sent back. And when returned still were not up to scratch. Very disappointing and over priced for the quality
The food was so tasty! The atmosphere was amazing. The service with all of the staff was great, although there was some wait time for our main meal. It was a tad bit expensive for the four of us.
A lovely dining experience, food marvellous, well presented, all staff attentive and helpful. Very atmospheric setting.
Lumley castle is one of my favourite place to go for any occasion,iv been to lumley castle quite afew times over the years,I came here in January as a treat for my sisters birthday she was amazed by everything,I also came here Monday gone for afternoon tea as a treat for my friends birthday she also was amazed how beautiful everything about lumley castle was, The staff are lovely and always glad to help, the presentation and fabulous taste of foods are amazing, the only down fall is the cost of the bottles of wine but over all I highly recommend it.
Afternoon tea was good value and restaurant surrounding made it more enjoyable
Being to the Black Knight restaurant many times just love the atmosphere, food & drink it is value for money and the service we had was excellent.
The only reason for 4 stars for value is the cost of the extra drinks in the restaurant. We had a lovely time. Thanks to all the friendly staff!
We had the lovely set three course lunch in the Black Night restaurant. The atmosphere was good and the staff friendly. we felt we could take our time over lunch and relax. We had coffee in the bar afterwards which was also a nice experience. The choice and standard of food was good at a very reasonable price.
Staff where excellent. Restaurant a little dark and difficult to find but it is an old building. Keep up the good work
Wasn’t advised a choice of tea nor offered refills. There was no explanation of sandwiches/cakes brought to table, & they were bland & scone dry, the stand was also whisked away from table before finishing. Pleasant staff but lacked quality customer service.
Dorina was a charming and attentive waitress. She made sure we had a pleasant experience.
Best afternoon tea in the Northeast, lovely food at a great price in a fabulous sourounding. Definitely will be back.
Having experienced many afternoon teas in the uk I was bitterly disappointed at the afternoon tea prepared for us at Lumley Castle. Firstly I had expected to be offered a choice of tea blends like Earl Grey, Ceylon etc rather than to be asked by the waitress ‘would you like tea or Coffee”. I also found the selection of cakes offered for the afternoon tea lacked creativity or imagination by the catering staff who prepared them. While I feel what I received offered reasonable value for money I would be prepared to pay a little bit more to make it a memorable occasion. All in all, a very disappointing experience from a four star AA listed hotel that claims to be no ordinary hotel.
Been here many times & it always is consistent with both quality and service. Meal was very enjoyable in a unique atmosphere. We will be back.
gorgeous setting. lovely helpful staff and lovely afternoon tea
