About Knights Restaurant at Lumley Castle Hotel
The elegant setting and superb food on offer in our award winning Black Knight Restaurant make it a popular choice for diners from far and wide. Subtle lighting, lavish furnishings, unobtrusive yet attentive service makes the Black Knight Restaurant truly memorable. Our menu offers classical dishes with an original twist. Diners can choose from our A la Carte menu and enjoy an extensive selection of fine wines to complement your meal.
Bar didn’t have/supply two different drinks we requested but they did suggest alternatives. Service was slightly slow and there didn’t appear to be many staff on duty hence the waiting time. However,, staff were very pleasant and attentive once they did serve you. Food was very nice and good value for money.
Staff were very good and attentive. The food did not offer value for money.
Rather dull experience, grand afternoon tea not so grand, sandwiches poor as was the cake selection. Very disappointed as this was a birthday gift. Would not recommend
Second high tea...absolutely stunning, will be back monthly. Great atmosphere, relaxing and super service.
My wife and I had another great night in the restaurant for Dinner on the 30th. December and the next morning for breakfast. And as per usual the staff were very friendly. Billy and Evelyn.
Afternoon tea overpriced for what it was. Coffee was cold by the time the food arrived. Lovely restaurant though
Came for lunch last week and became very frusteated at the very slow service. We had to leave after an hour and three quarters and still hadn’t received pudding. Waitress didn’t pay us enough attention, and we felt isolated in corner and increasingly frustrated. Suggestion: Be more attentive to the mood and need of your customers. Don’t assume everyone has the whole afternoon to eat lunch.
Fabulous surroundings, beautiful afternoon tea and great service. Perfect.
A very nice lunch only one thing spoilt it ,was the restaurant was too dark ,I think it could do with more lights
The reason for lower service score, when i asked for more tea there was more hot water put in pot but no new tea bag so was very very weak!!
We had a superb meal in Black Knight Restaurant,we enjoyed every course particularly the Beef main course and ended with lovey coffee and mince pies.
Afternoon tea was lovely and our dietary requirements were accommodated without compromising on choice or taste. It is unusual to only get one small teacup to drink with an afternoon tea. Usually a pot or refills are included. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.
My wife and I really enjoyed the soft shell crab and that the menu was styled as small plates and large plates allowing a choice.. We would like to say that the soft shell crab felt like a luxury to us as we had seen Rick Stein preparing a similar dish on TV. The desserts were gorgeous as was the Kir Royale my wife had in the bar before our meal. The service was excellent and we were well looked after.
The food was delicious and I would definitely come back again
Arrived12.20 for12.30. Table 1at course did not arrive untill12 50 nobody else in until 12.45
Staff were very pleasant from us entering the castle to leaving. We chose from the Christmas fayre menu the food was perfect. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon
Waiter service impeccable made our whole evening exceptional.
Afternoon Tea was extremely expensive for what you got. Evening Dinner was first class. Cooked breakfast was good but availability of plates and glasses for the continental selection was poor. No orange juice left and only two flavours of yoghurts. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I have come to the Castle for years for various events. It’s disappointing to only now get one scone per serving especially now they are so small.
Excellent service from staff who were engaging yet discrete.
Was lovely for afternoon tea. Me and my friends loved it so much and will be back again
Disappointed in the quality of the food, the afternoon tea was not even average, would have been nice in such a lovely place to be served above average food and something more special. Service was ok, staff not attentive at all in the restaurant, expected more high end service.
I booked a one night stay at Lumley castle to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay and the food, service and setting was absolutely amazing.
Outstanding venue, food and staff who go out their way to make your experience a pleasure We have been before many times, so took some of our family at the weekend, they were blown away by the castle and the whole high tea. Made us very proud to have such a place on our doorstep
Sat for 20 mins before someone came with most people sat after us got served first. Tea arrived and waited another 30 minutes for the afternoon tea arrived. Very disappointed and wont be hurrying back
