About Bistro Jacques (Liverpool)
Bistro Jacques delivers in true Gallic style. This rustic French restaurant is situated on the corner of Hardman Street and Hope Street, in the heart of theatre land and the university district.
The décor has a classic bistro feel with wooden tables and chairs, candles in wine bottles and walls smattered with prints by French artists. The warm, friendly and inviting service is accompanied by traditional French music helping create a vibrant and bustling atmosphere.
Menu choice very poor son ordered confit duck as starter no duck in the dish! I ordered pate 2 very small pieces of bread came with it and they were plonked on top of the pate!
Excellent food and service. Good atmosphere but on our visit it was spoilt by a group of very noisy ladies.
Lovely food and just the right amount portion size, although I suppose some would say too small if they had a very big appetite, but for the price it was good value. It was very busy when we were there with a large family party taking place, so bit on the noisy side I suppose, but it didn’t bother us. Service was spot on, not over the top, courteous and smiley! Great location if going to the Philharmonic, just 2 minutes walk door to door.
Fantastic food and value for money. We had the pre- theatre deal , and all the desserts were heavenly! The only thing that would stop me from booking again, is the noise! It was so incredibly loud inside, I could not hear what people opposite me were saying, let alone any French music! Maybe a few soft furnishings, wall hangings might help??
Thoroughly enjoyable meal in a very pleasant atmosphere. Food was hot and well presented, looked appetising on the plate and definitely didn't disappoint the taste buds!! In terms of value for money, I doubt Jacques can be beaten. Highly recommended, Thank you,
Our waiter was excellent
Food was great as usual but the service was not good at all and meant that we didn't have time for dessert before going on to an event.
ENJOYABLE MEAL AND EXCELLENT VENUE
Great time with friends. We loved the food and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We had the Pre theatre menu which was great value for money and plenty of choice to suit everyones taste
A wonderful first time at Bistro Jacques, we had the pre-theatre deal and there was plenty of choice, the food was first class and the service was even better than that. We will definitely be returning.
We always eat at one of the Bistros when we are in Liverpool and all are excellent. As we were going to the Philarmonic your Bistro was the most convenient this time.
Enjoyable meal & evening
Unusually poor service and food this visit. Waited 30 minutes for starters which only arrived after prompting. The kitchen had lost our order and rushed our goats cheese tart starter as a result of which the top was cooked but the bottom almost raw and cold. Fish main course was horribly dry. This was a pre theatre booking and it is clear the restaurant cannot cope with a sudden influx of people. Will not return for a pre theatre meal.
Great pre-theatre meal as always
Waitress was really friendly and helpful and vegetarian options, as always, were brilliant. Many thanks to all the team.
Had vouchers from Xmas so used them as we were at a concert at philharmonic. Everything was perfect and although the restaurant was busy the service was great and we were in plenty of time for concert. One of my favourite restaurants
Quality food and service as allways, i would recommend the restaurant to anyone...
Been to Bistro Franc several times so knew everything would be great and I wasnt disappointed. We had the pre-theatre meal and it was such good value for money. Excellent food.
Great value , great food , excellent service . Pre theatre meal offer, very handy for the philharmonic . Best to book when an event is on 5:15 pm for a 7:30pm performance works well and beats the rush! We are regular customers
54 of us arrive by coach, and BJ goes into action. We are warmly greeted, shown to our tables and served drinks (those who want them!) within minutes. Good food, friendly atmosphere, and great service. All this and beautiful vegetables too! No hanging about. And then, off to the Phil. What a wonderful day. Thank you Sarah and all your team.
All just great
Every time Bistro Jacques is a great treat. The food is always delicious, the staff are lovely and it makes the perfect stress free pre theatre supper or relaxed lunch.
Great food and service as always. Reasonably priced. Love eating here
Lovely way to start the evening ! definitely worth having the theatre menu
Great food, great atmosphere. Would recommend
