About Big Blue Hotel
The Blues Bar & Brasserie
Dining at the stylish Blues Bar and Brasserie is an enjoyable experience. Whether it's a lazy cappuccino or a delicious meal, it offers a tasteful backdrop to relax and dine in comfort. Sink into a soft, leather armchair and enjoy a long, cool drink or sip a hand-crafted cocktail at the bar.
Children can create their own fresh pizzas while parents can choose from an extensive menu designed with a European feel using only fresh, local produce.
For dinner the Brasserie offers an à la carte menu, a chef’s menu and a children’s menu.
The waiting staff did so well with their masks on, pouring with sweat and still smiled. The food was lovely and I’m a fussy eater the only criticism I do have is the plates. They are clean but marked that makes them look dirty
Great value for money. The whole experience, service etc was superb for the price. We shall definitely be returning.
I always enjoy my stay at the big blue. Thank you for a lovely few nights away.
I made my reservation after looking at the menus online. When we arrived at the restaurant we were given an a’la carte menu. After reading the menus prior to this we had already decided we wanted to eat off the all day menu. When I questioned this I was told it was only a’la carte. Food was mediocre. To be honest my children were still hungry and that was even after pudding. To my surprise the next morning I realised there was a copy of the bar menu on display and it clearly stated served until 9pm. I questioned this at reception and complained that I was told I was unable to eat off this menu. The receptionists (2 of them ) looked at me like I was mad and said that the reservation was for the restaurant and they didn’t serve this menu in there. I explained that I had therefore been misled as this wasn’t made clear upon making my booking. They apologised and said the bar menu is new. Can’t say I was impressed at all and the service was poor. Wouldn’t go again.
We have never had an issue with service in the restaurant previously. This year it was just bad and not what you would expect of a four star hotel. The main issues was a cocktail and the kids menu. I ordered a margarita and have drank many, favourites being in Florida. The margarita here tasted nothing like one. The kids meal, my son opted for the chicken nuggets, he ate half a one and said they were not nice. I tried a bite and they weren't. I wasn't going to say anything as he enjoyed everything else. Twice our waitress asked us if everything was ok with our meals. On both occasions I told her the margarita was not good and my son did ot like the taste of the chicken nuggets and that I agreed with him. She nodded her head and walked off each time??? The third time she asked I did not bother answering her. My nine year old son said, that waitress just asks you if everything is ok, but does not listen to you answer. Spot on, I'd expect some feedback re the issues raised, an offer to replace the food or drink etc. Also the guy who brought the mains out just put them down, my son tried to ask him for some ketchup but he just turned around and walked away. We had to find our waitress to get some. I had the braised beef with rosti which was great. Overall the service at the meal was poor, the staff that I encountered didn't seem to care and had no personality. We were due to eat lunch their today, but cancelled as a result of the service received.
We ate in the restaurant 2 nights. We were a family of 9 including young children, some meals were better than others. I would not recommend the smoked haddock rissotto. However breakfast was brilliant.
Really was a good experience considering the government policy on face coverings everything from hotel and staff made it as pleasant as they possibly could during this time. If you want a break this is place to come too and its the staff that make it a pleasant experience.
Second time we have visited the big blue this month. Excellent throughout
We paid £17.00 for a lamb dish and the lamb ribs were tiny and only came with a few potatoes and no vegetables. They ran out of chicken and I only eat chicken so had to have a kids meal of garlic bread and pizza and ordered the ice cream as a desert option with it but it never arrived! The waitress did take the ice cream off the bill though. Very slow service considering there was only 4 other tables occupied. Very disappointed ☹️
A clean and friendly hotel, with well trained staff and good food.
Can’t fault the hotel or the staff. Lovely spacious clean rooms. Wasn’t happy that we had to move the car out of the hotel car park at lunch time on the day of checkout because we had booked as a package with the pleasure beach and was spending the last day at the pleasure beach. We had to park in the pleasure beach car park costing us £18. Also the ps3 in the room had to pay £5 for each game to rent which wasn’t clear until my son got upset that he had nothing to play on so we went to reception (a deposit I can understand paying)
We enjoyed our lunch and dinner at the Big Blue Hotel, all nicely presented. Reasonable price for 4 star hotel.
Had a Superb time , very clean with everything that’s going. Would definitely recommend to friends and family
Service was very good under difficult circumstances. Very good menu for children. Food was lovely
Absolutely wonderful hotel, would definitely visit again.
Four of use dined but one of my party didn’t like their meal stroganoff as she doesn’t like onions which it wasn’t included/declared on the menu. We wasn’t asked if we didn’t like or any ingredient that could affect us. I know it’s.a bad time for everyone at moment but I wouldn’t pay full price for the meal when we go again. I gave it 4 stars.
No Social Distancing or guidelines whatsoever in The Dining Room at Breakfast .People literally breathing down your neck in the queue for food.Should have been separate queues for toast and drinks and just drinks.Waited 10 minutes for 2 cups of tea.Food quality average expected better quality for a 4 Star Hotel.Rooms were very nice very comfy bed.
Very well organised, all social distancing in place and staff explained procedures well.
Really quick service and value for money. The waiting staff were excellent.
although we had a few issues during our stay the one thing we can never fault (we've stayed 3 times) is the amazing professional and courteous staff. Great team!!!!
It was well organised with the changes that had to be made due to covid, tables cod have been cleared quicker and not much choice for children for breakfast.
Great food and service will definitely return
Great service by friendly staff. Food was lovely and social distancing in restaurant was very well organised. Family room was fab! The kids loved it! Would definitely visit again and highly recommend to others.
Lovely Restaurant with great service
